    Should your safety be in the "SAFE" position or the "FIRE" position when cocking your crossbow? New crossbow hunters and shooters often get this wrong and the result can be a broken or damaged bow.
    In this video we're going to go through:
    1. The CORRECT POSITION
    2. What can happen when incorrect?
    3. How to reset your safety and trigger.

    Great video!
    I have one more thing to add. I will add by my recent experience. I was shooting a Ravin R29X, built my arrows to500gr up from the stock 400gr. Set up. 3 brand new Ravin lighted luminocks three shots and three broken nocks and damaged nock bushings!! I just figured that because they all blew through the target is why I never saw any lights. Truth be told they all blew apart when I pulled the trigger! So now I am confined to the r500 only nocks. Sent a message to Ravin but never received a response!!!

    Just bought a Barnett crossbow today. Owners manual say when you pull string back the safety will go to safe. Funny it says nothing about make sure it's on fire before pulling string up. Glad I thought about this and watched this video. My new bow was on safe out of the box.

    Always refer to owners manual! ALWAYS! I do have a question howeaver... Not regarding safety, but NV optics on my Legal 405... I installed my sightmark photon XT, using low profile rings. Stangely, I ran out of windage adjustments and the bow still groups well but aprox 3" to the right. Do you please have any sugestions? Is it possíble to, somehow, compensate (fix weaver rail adjustments or something) for this lack of "clicks? Thank you much for sharing! 👍👍

      I don’t have any experience with that particular scope, seems odd that you’d run out of adjustment tho. Is it possible your scope rail is loose or crooked?

      @@kevindonahue7355 take a look at page 10 of the ripper 425 owners manual. It indicates minimum arrow weight of 370 grains, minimum length 20" and half moon nocks must be used.

    Put safety first

    • @draggindeeroutdoors
      @draggindeeroutdoors  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Many, many crossbows require the safety to be at the "fire" position prior to cocking. The safety then automatically is set to the "safe" position once cocked. Please check your owners manual to make sure you're operating your bow per the manufacturers requirements.

    Older Excalibur crossbows like the matrix and grzll need to be cocked in the fire position but then the safety needs to be manually reset.
    I have a newer Excalibur Assassin where when cocked in the fire position the safety automatically engages.

      All the Matrix and Micro and older Excaliburs will ONLY cock with the “safety off”. If the safety is on, it will not latch.
      The newer Assassins and perhaps the newer cease fire bows can be cocked and the safety will auto engage.
