When I think back to the bikes available when I passed my test back in 1861 (it feels like that long ago) we truly are spoiled for choice these days. What a machine this is, and for what I feel is a decent price.
G'day Mark, your testing one of the big four from Japan over the years they had the market basically for themselves every day it seams like a new competitive brand comes on the market, this bike is just perfect for the everyday experience rider who look for a reliable, quick good looking machine and has the money to spend, must be hard giving some bike back after a review, another good one mate, cheers, Neil 🤠.
Thanks for going out in the frosty weather. A brilliant bike, I noticed the hefty and complex structure of the swing-arm, very impressive! That bike will worry some of the other bigger touring bikes, you don't really need 1 300cc and higher.
Cracking review Mark, I love this bike! I had a 2016 GSX-S 1000S and that thing was so much fun!!! What an engine 😁 It looks as though Suzuki have raised the gearing on this model which will make it less buzzy for touring and help MPG, really like that it now has electric suspension with an extra 20mm of travel over the GT.
Hi Mark, great review as always! Poor old Suzuki… adding far too many model names with all new models nowadays, when in fact it’s really easy… Suzuki GX, GT, 8S, 8R, DE, RE … Every reviewer gets a little tongue tied 😉
Best motorcycle of the year imo :D At least the one I anticipated the most. My Honda VFR800X Crossrunner is 5 years old only but damn is that Suzuki tempting. But I don't want to take a loan ahah
I owned a GSXS1000F K5 engine fantastic engine, in the form of the GX really don't think it can be beat as a do it all/anything bike. It ticks all boxes.
I owned both at the same time and believe me ridden back to back the engine in the gsxs 1000 is nowhere near as strong as a k5/k6 engine, not even close
Thanks so much for this review out in the cold, Mark. It's a beautiful bike, and the inline four is such an amazing engine. The price is fantastic considering what one gets with it. The only thing that worries me is that perhaps the pegs are too high for my bad knees.
I have a soft spot for Suzuki, having toured in Europe on a GS850G many years ago. This bike interested me until I realised it has no centre stand and Suzuki don’t offer a top box. Screen adjustment seems unnecessarily complicated. Think I’ll stick with my Versys 1000 SE GT. All the electronics, centre stand, heated grips, full luggage and enough power for me!
Thanks for the review, really informative as always. Hoping to test ride one soon. Torn between this, the 1000 Gt and the Kawasaki 1000 Ninja Sx. All great bikes, hard to choose.
All these green bikes all of a sudden. Excellent vid; fabulous bike. Too tall for me, sadly. You should do your bike of the year vid. It would be interesting to get your views. Ride safe
Nice detailed review Mark, cheers. Don't like the lack of weather protection and to much buzzyness through the bars for me. I will stick with the versys1000s
Hi Mark, a really good and enjoyable review. One question: I read that on hard brake the handlebar, due to the silent block, "seems" a little bit "moving".... giving a strange feedback to the driver. Did you experiment? Thx
Thanks for the review Mark, great as always. I'm thinking of changing up to this bike from a 2016 MT-07. I've got your same inseam length, did the foot pegs dig in your feet while stationary? When I've tried the Tracer 9 that's what put me off it to say the truth. Thanks for any feedback Mark, keep up the good work
Hi Mark , well done another excellent review on such cracking bike, what’s your honest opinion “ love it or hate it ? How did you find the seat height, would it put you off? Thanks Dean
Nice review and a nice looking bike, in my mind the trouble this bike is how it fits into the market, if I wanted a sports tourer I would have the GT version of this and if I wanted the adventure touring look I would opt for the Vstrom 1050.
very nice and informative review....i want to ask two things... *first is it true that this bike has speed limiter? *and second does this bike has very good brakes oorr needs an upgraded front master cylinder?!?something like BREMBO 19X18-20 19RCS CORSA CORTA?!?i know that has brembo m4.32 radial calipers but nissin semiradial master cylinder..is it a negative thing?
Hi I'm not aware of any speed limiter ...it does about 150 mph anyway...you can always have a remap to improve performance No need to upgrade brakes they are very good Best wishes Mark
I'd like if the semi active suspension was on the F sport touring bike. I'd buy that. I generally wish manufacturers wouldn't hold the nice features only to the tall rounders and supersports. I'd take a really tricked out middleweight that weighed less any day.
Thanks Mark. This bike is clearly more powerful than the Yamaha Tracer 9 GT+ triple CP3. But I suspect you would only notice that at the top end. How did it feel in comparison to you? I used to own a Honda Magna 750 and it topped out at around 137 mph. But it wasn't very planted at those speeds. Aerodynamically, the air pressure that built up under the gas tank made the front end become very light at those speeds. It seems that high speed design needs a downward wedge shape on the fairing/windshield in order to keep the front tire planted. This bike has that design... Gord
Hi Gord funny enough the Suzuki feels stronger at the bottom end more because of it's torque. The Yamaha is going crazy with noise and power at the top end so it kind of feels just as fast Best wishes mark
@@markpulling12 Thanks for that indication, Mark. I wish I knew more about the Tracer 9 GT+ at higher speeds. There was some comment I saw published on the negative side that indicated it was twitchy (not as stable) at over 93 mph. I higher speed tourer needs to be planted at speeds of at least 100 mph in my opinion. What has been your experience? You still have your Tracer 9 GT, right? Gord
@@gorrdd hi Gord no I sold it a while ago....I found it stable at speed ...no problems personally...I have an older multistrada 1200 now 2012 model which is fantastic Cheers mark
I’ve been dead set on getting a Honda NT1100 for ages now, but now I’m in a position to head to the dealer, I see bikes like this one and the Yamaha MT09 GT+, and I feel a bit conflicted. Spoiled for choice really in this price bracket.
I’m not a huge fan of shaft final drive but . . . even as a marketing gimmick, if Suzuki used their excellent (simple and patented) shaft I suspect more would have considered a purchase.
Funny enough I was thinking about the versus 1000 when I was riding this ...the versus is a bit more comfortable and smoother but I'd go for the Suzuki ...it has better suspension and more power Cheers mark
I can't understand the Suzuki's philosophy about sport touring. How a height adjusting windshield can't be even in accessories catalogue? It is like a self punishment in the year of 2024.Suzuki had equipped with one of the best electronic suite but cannot offer an appropriate windscreen?Lol.
When I think back to the bikes available when I passed my test back in 1861 (it feels like that long ago) we truly are spoiled for choice these days. What a machine this is, and for what I feel is a decent price.
163 years is a reasonably long time to be riding bikes in fairness!

that green is beautiful... nice and subtle.

First class review as always. You do a very clinical in depth review with no bull. Superb.👍.
Thanks Paul I appreciate that 😀
Thanks for going out in the frosty weather. A brilliant bike, I noticed the hefty and complex structure of the swing-arm, very impressive! That bike will worry some of the other bigger touring bikes, you don't really need 1 300cc and higher.
You don't even really need 1000cc unless you're taking a passenger.
You do when you're as fat as me!
Nice but think I'd rather the GSXS 1000GT or most probably the Z1000SX. Another good review, cheers.
As always great no nonsense review, looks like a great bike.
Thanks again.
Nice review.
Cant go wrong with that motor, proven better on fuel now ,bags of power and has the Japanese reliability that no others can match.

Thanks Mark very nice and realistically priced although does lack a center stand. A good competitor for the BMW 1000 XR or Tracer 900gt+

It's more plush like the versys :)

Gorgeous bike. I am a twin man nowadays but if I wasn’t…… his right up my street. The legs look quite high?
Excellent review.
Nice review! How would you say this bike compares performance-wise to the Tracer 9GT?
Hi this Suzuki has a bit more torque and power but fun wise they are equal
Cheers mark
Awesome review Mark! 😊
Please do SV650 review next time I'm looking forward that you will ride it.
Is this category of bikes just sport tourers for tall people? Because I can’t really think of any other reason to buy a GX instead of a GT.
Food for thought!
Nice review Mark.
I'm wondering if the gearing is higher than my Katana as its a tourer? Can't quite tell from the revs v speed?
Excellent video looks a lovely bike to ride

The GX electronic suspension and more travel isn't much different?? Not way more comfortable??
I sure hope so for the extra $4-5k!

mark...why does Suzuki us 2 brands for brakes? brembo on front and nissin at the back?
Good question I thought that aswell... probably supply and cost ?

Thnks Mark...the same to you and up to more awesome roadtests@@markpulling12
Possibly because nissin rear brakes actually work, and work really well. The usual brembo rear is just bad.
I don't understand this bike. It's the GT but taller. And more expensive. Couldn't they just make a taller seat option for the GT?
No heated grips as standard 😳😩
Yes I thought that too ...grrr 😖
They're usually an option on big suzukis, but I personally think the controls on Oxford aftermarket grips are easier to use.
It's like someone stuck a 4 cylinder engine ( and road rubber) on a V-Strom. Can't be a bad thing.
