Awe...it’s a bummer when you lose a tree..but that’s a part of planting life I guess. On the other note.. your garden looks great. I can’t wait to see the larkspur and poppies and other spring/ summer flowers popped up!🤗
I grow poppies every year . I think your issues with your poppies is they need full sun in mostly poor soils without a lot of water. They also don't like competition. Also they love gravel. First time visiting your channel. I like how you keep your beds tidy but full, planting vegetables along with perennials and shrubs. I also garden on an acre in North Central Texas, I don't recognize many of your plants. Thank you for the tour.
This is the sweetest presentation of nature ever. What is not to like about this? How fit can you get gardening? Note the remarkable results and morning coffee spot with the cool blue chairs.
This is the kind of garden I want for my yard. Not pretentious! Just bought your book Foodscaping Revolution, full of excellent information. Was telling my adult kids, this will be my retirement projects after forty three years in the health care profession. Thank you so much that I found you in YT.
That is good to know about the compost!!! That is so horrible that it happened to your bed and TREE 😭 Thank you for sharing such valuable information!!!
I knew you were my kinda gardener...but now with Joni Mitchell in the background, I'm all in.😁 I can't find barley seeds, but you totally inspired me to seed some blue wheat. I think it's going to be beautiful. Your garden is looking beautiful.
I am so so sorry you lost your flamethrower tree I just ordered one and they are so pricey.. maybe I should pot up abit.. gardener in pensacola fl.. thanks for sharing your beautiful garden!!!
So sorry for the flamethrower. 😢 I waited a year to get my flamethrower. It arrived a couple of weeks ago and is the most pampered of anything in my garden. I hope you are able to get another one.
Have you thought of having yours prunus plums removed. Good news on compost buyer beware it also happened to me with a lot of sand and rock with twigs. Keep the videos coming.
Can't wait for your open house! My angle white Lilac just finished blooming. The new growth is still a little too soft but should be perfect for propegation cuttings in a few weeks. Perfect time to bring you some for your open house.
The passing of the Flame Thrower is tragic! I know you've said you invested a lot in that tree to be able to get one when they first came out. Heartbreaking! For those of us who don't have access to Soil3 compost, what questions should we be asking our compost supplier to make sure they are providing a good product?
Great question! Actually I’ll do a video on it, because there is a lot to cover! I include this info in all my webinars so I have good visual aides to include 👍
OMG! I thought it was you from the thumbnail and I immediately recognized your voice from an episode of Growing a Greener World! YT just recommended your channel! Im so happy (on my side) to feel “reconnected” to the great work you’re doing!
You even experiment with dominant perennials that could get aggressive, fearlessly. I could and likely will watch this several times. I give it seven stars in the garden art category. *******
Your diseased compost story was an eye-opener, thank you for that education on the risks of cheap compost! So sad that the your Flame Thrower died, it is at the top of my purchase list for autumn.
Started larkspur in the fall for the first time this year along with sweet peas and bachelor s buttons....thank you so much for your videos. Still waiting to hear from Soil3 about some great compost so excited. Zone 7b hillsborough NC....
Hey Brie! My American fringe tree has kind of done the same as yours. Mine hasn’t shrunk but it’s not grown an inch in 4 years. I’ve read they don’t like acidic soil, so that could be your issue, mine too.
Whenever I transplant things, I always think I’ve killed them bc of the wilt. I’m glad to know that’s not the case! Thank you for so much inspiration!!
Do wildlife in your area eat the barley? I’ve never grown grains/grasses but I am considering forage plants for the birds/ squirrels to overwinter. SAn Francisco area zone 9B
Wildlife, aka deer, rabbits and groundhogs, have been known to eat the barley, as do my cats! But to avoid the browsing animals I mix in larkspur which has poisonous foliage- no the poison does not translocate, therefore it does not get absorbed by the barley or any other neighboring plant (I get that question all the time). The larkspur integrated and a potato edge helps reduce the wildlife component considerably.
I've had the same trouble with cercis "rising Sun" I've killed 3...I got 2 more and one is growing and the other is D.E.A.D. ,,,dead....I think it likes more alkaline soil because the one in TN at UT botanical garden is great....I think they have a lot of limestone there....just a guess....
I think that flamethrower redbud died because it seems like you planted it on a downhill so it wasn’t catching much water. You should create a basin around all your new trees until they develop a good root system. Also it seems like you have a lot of other stuff growing around it looking pretty healthy so those other plants might be sucking up all the nutrients... I also noticed you have a black structure right next to the redbud. It could be getting too hot in the heat of summer, I don’t know when you planted that redbud, but they’re sensitive the first few years.
The floating glass balls have been collected over the years from glass blowers, art festivals and ever Pottery Barn ;) Some of them were actually meant to be holiday ornaments! The place I got most of them from (actually I registered for them when I got married) closed as they went into the Cannabis business. But here is a store that looks like they sell interesting pieces. www.avalonglassworks.com/our-products/glass-floats/
You had me at vacuuming beds, now: "Weeded vigorously", it keeps getting better and better.
What a beautiful garden! 🌿🌿🌿🌸🌸🌸🌱🌱🌱

Corylopsis spicata 'Golden Spring '. I will definitely be keeping an eye out for that one!
Your garden is absolutely gorgeous. It would be nice to drive and see Gardens everywhere like yours that would just be lovely😊

Brie I'm so sorry about the redbud!! I Hope you can find a replacement soon 💚
Condolences on the loss of your pretty tree. Everything looks beautiful though.
I like the look of the bottle wall but maybe a concern is broken glass.

I like the bottle border
You are brilliant!
How do you freeze your cilantro? In ice cubes or baggies? I have a lot, and parsley and thyme, and freezing it sounds like a great idea 💡
Wow..thanks for the poison compost tip! 😬
Yes! I hope to help others avoid the problems I have purchased!
Very nice

How do you keep the cats from pooping in your foodscape?

Ahhhhh that could totally be it!! I sent a sample into the lab to test for ralstonia.
What was the little pool called? It looks like it's made from hard plastic, which would be awesome!
Yes it is hard plastic. It’s a feed tank/ trough from tractor supply
Is your now mutually mourned dead redbud flamethrower specimen known to grow tall in some Australian forests?
That is a good question.. I am not sure that it would live in Australia.

What do mean by open house?... Is it in person garden tour?
Yes in person, free, no registration www.briegrows.com/spring-open-garden-tour

@@BrieThePlantLady very pretty
What kind of phlox is that?
This is Phlox paniculata 'Bright Eyes' a VERY vigorous spreader but so beautiful all summer and the swallowtails love it.
@@BrieThePlantLady Is that the same as Woodland phlox?
@@sharonmcentee8615 No that is Phlox divaricata which blooms now. This variety will bloom in full sun through the summer.

About the Deseases Virus that!!
Sell them to Japanese and Asian people at farmers markets.
That’s what’s done in Los Angeles.
