+Waw Hiker Thanks for the comment, you and the Hoop are appreciated! The ramp was more than a bit steep and my canoe is more than a bit heavy, glad I could lower it down.
Hey Lawrence, thanks for the kind mention in the description! The Ausable looks like a beautiful river! That water quality looked to be amazing! Thanks for sharing it! The wind is always there for us solo paddlers! :o)
+Wintertrekker thank you for your kind comments and honestly, the advice you gave me on dealing with the wind in a solo. But funny, the wind was coming from the north, from Canada - hmmmm, did you send it down :-)
My brother and I have done the trip from Alcona Dam to Loud Dam at least 15 times over the years. Awesome river! Usually make 4 days/nights out of it. Do a lot of fishing along the way. Can't wait till the next trip. Great video!
Thanks for watching Jeffrey! It is a beautiful trip and I am going to get my wife out there with me this year. Still want to do the entire river from Grayling to Lake Huron. Hoping to have the time this year.
I would like to get my fiancé on the river, if just for a day trip. Would also like to canoe from Grayling to Loud dam one of these days. Hope you get your goals accomplished! Maybe we'll run into each other sometime.
Thank you for watching and hello to Ireland! It is a beautiful river and in the late fall when I was there, it is very quite.Thinking about it, a view of the area with a drone would be incredible.
Thank you for watching and I am glad you enjoyed it. The area is fantastic and I am trying to make the time to do the entire river next month. Thanks again.
Looks awesome! I'm planning a trip up there this summer, but I was looking at the area east of the Five Channels Dam, because I don't have anyone to pick me up downstream. What's the river flow like in that part?
took this trip with the boy scouts, 100 miles exiting to the lake and it was one of the most beautiful rivers ive ever canoed on. truly an amazing place, just curious but how much did you do of the river?
Nik, I started out at the Alcona Dam put in at Bamfield Rd. which is at the foot of the dam. Nice wide launch area and easy to get to. Thanks for watching!

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I only had a couple days so I ended up doing about 20 miles, most of it on the second day. I hope to have the time to do the entire length next month.
Great video! I’m an avid Michigan camper myself and enjoy your videos. Thanks for making them!
Such a beautiful paddle! 🤘
You said it and I'll repeat it - gorgeous river! Interesting portage with stairs for you and a slide (ramp) for the canoe.

Yup, truly beautiful bud. I like the off seasons when there is nothing (bugs and people) around also. Nice video
