- Valentines Day! Trip to Saraburi Province...Ever heard of that fabulous town called Kheng Khoi? We hadn’t, which is why we went there. Saraburi Province is 77 miles and 2hrs from Bangkok by train so it’s an easy short trip! Snakes, monkeys, temples, food, tragic war stories, mountains, water-less waterfalls, smog, cute kids and a cat are all part of this video which myself and May made of our trip and we hope you enjoy reliving yet another journey away from the big city, it’s the only way I get to do any videos outside of Bangkok! Maybe rename the channel Bangkok Patrick? At one point you mentioned not doing much research prior to the trip (no waterfall), but sometimes that's when you have the best experiences. Especially for shorter get-away type trips. As an older pre-internet guy, I still like the "hey, that looks cool, let's check it out" method of discovery. That includes restaurants. Thanks to both of you for a fun video.

I really love this dynamic. You know, Pats music choices, and video pacing always felt a bit romantic ...a bit like a Woody Allen movie. In some ways it matched up with his content (details about Metro lines and neighborhoods). But it fits much nicer in a love story.

BTW That temple actually has a Road, but it quite steep so only Locals allowed/know how to get there, with experienced drivers and good power bike/cars.

Lesson learned: His name is Patrick ...I always assumed Bangkok Pat stands for "Bangkok Pattaya" and that he abbreviates Pattaya with Pat to obfuscate an inner desire to travel there (for whatever reasons).

Nice video about the provence and the good and bad surprises when you go to some places. Waterfalls only working if no tourists there :D I have had the same experience on Phuket :D

I frequently travel route 2 through Saraburi up/down what I affectionately call “cement hill”. Those cement factories are a site to behold!

Hi Pat, if you're reading this I can suggest another video with a 'hidden Saraburi ecotourist' vibe which is based in some fantastic locations in or near Khao Yai with NO FEES to pay. The waterfalls, caves, treks and giant buddha temple complexs there are surely the best kept secrets within 2 and a half hrs of Bangkok and perhaps what you were really looking for in this video. I guarantee you would be blown away by the caves, walks and temples I have found there.
Loved the video Pat especially Wat Phra Phutthachai, the journey there was interesting enough but the views were spectacular. On my bucket list.

Nice trip. May is a natural star. How and where did you rent the motorbike? How much was it? Too bad for the smoke. I wish farmers in much of the world would compost instead.
Rented the bike from a kind staff member who lived at the hotel! They were very nice.

Saraburi has many places to explore. It's good to visit during raining season, more fresh air , more green.
If you're looking for waterfall i recommend to visit muak lek. Sam lan was a beatiful waterfall in the past decade. It change a lot because forest not flourish like the old day.

Very recent subscriber. Have enjoyed the videos I have watched. They are interesting and for me nostalgic. Lived in Thailand for 6 years back in the 80s, and got to a lot of places during this time. Can't believe how much Bangkok (in particular) has changed. Never got to Kheng Khoi, loved the underground museum, and remembered how nasty monkeys can be in some places. Your last meal looked great - all favorites of mine. Thai foods are so diverse, one can never get bored with it. You and May were great together in the video - she has a very nice personality. I'll be perusing new and old videos (catch up). Best of luck to both of you!

Saraburi is a big army town with Fort Adisorn and various cavalry and Royal Guard units based there.
Just like I always notice those damn cables.
Hahaha, had the same "waterfall experience" on Koh Samui back in the summer of 1987. I had a dirtbike and took my Thai companion to the "waterfall" and all there was a cliff of wet rocks.
Was a bit of a dampener but never mind, l wouldn't have gone swimming anyway!
Could you please visit lak hok and rangsit lak hok is surrounded with khlongs
I visited both areas doing the Red Line 1 video. Not many watched it so I edited those videos into a shorter one! I will go again one day for a future canal video but not anytime soon.

Thank you for this video... lots of interesting places in Saraburi... quite a disappointing waterfall though. Definitely going to steer clear of any monkeys. Not afraid of them, just really dislike how destructive they can be. Nice temple. Very cool views.
Interesting place, however the monkeys seemed dodgy af. I never let my guard down around them. The Naka Cave looked fabulous though.
Hi Pat, this has always been a province that I just transit! Past the cement works on the hills and on to Korat. Didn't see anything much different from my locality in Rayong, dry waterfalls are common in 'dry season'! Won't want to go see the monkey's either! A bunch in the road in Lopburi town center is enough for me from the safety of my car! Good friendly vlog! Well done Pat and May.

Nice change of pace there guys. Amazing temple on top of the mountain well worth the climb (and monkeys). Looks like you took one for the team with the waterfalls 'Patrick' but these things happen. The lovely May seems comfortable in a rural setting but I think it might be a case of you can take the man out of the city but not the city out of the man for Bangkok Patrick :-D
