Several modders in several places complained fromsoft stole their animation/animation idea. Didnt really believe any of it, until got to see the weapons and spells.Usually you only see stupidly broken anime stuff in soulsgame mods where the maker has 0 aftertought. Then we magically get all the broken, instant startup having attack animations, legit nuclear bomb spells. Sorry, but just cause you enjoyed elden ring, doesnt mean if someone states a good critic against it you have start witchhunt, grow up sorry

@@hennyboi1523 just booted up fextra life video which shows all the dlc spells and reforged mod all spells video, already finding similarities to the extreme. Tho fromsoft owns all the right of their product, they have right to do so. The problem isn't that. The problem starts when they copy a mod what has 0 aftertought hows that gonna handle the balance, and those things reach the maingame.

The advantage of Moonveil was the speed and damage.
This new weapon is slow in comparison, gets you stuck on the animation, and the proyectiles are short range.
Moonveil is still better objectively.

The great katanas have an extra attack if you press roll during a heavy attack charge just like CS and TS
I just tried it, you can feint on the first heavy attack on 1H and both heavy attacks on 2H. Also doing the light attack after it does a nice poke attack. Seems like a pretty crazy mixup if you use it well
I looked up the stat requirements and was blown away. Only 18 Dex 14 str. This just goes in every build now.

Not sure if anyone’s mentioned this before, but if you want a good ash to go with the great kat flame strike is a prime choice since if someone tries to strafe your pokes/vertical attacks you can deny it. Overhead stance seems like it suffers from the tracking in a lot of cases and also sword dance could overshoot a bit
Honestly love the way the moveset was constructed, from all the dlc stuff I’ve seen it looks like one of the most dynamic and satisfying weapons

tried out Great Katanas for the first time, saw that the moveset is very familiar. And i was hoping that the ashes of war for the weapon class would be similar to Iai Spirit Slash or Sacred Sheathe lmao

What I've noticed so far is that there are a lot of spammy weapons and ashes, but to counter this there are no reliable burst damage sources yet.
Golden retaliation. Jar cannon. Switching weapons and talismans. Tryharding. We still have options, don’t lose hope.
Your live and die by your build. The more tools you have, the more you can adjust to your gankers strategies.

I think blind spot is pretty broken, it punishes almost any aggression with it's on reaction i-frames, I found storm stomp as a counter but a good player might not fall for it.

Yeah, The poise damage on it is insane too. L2 on reaction to anything the opponent does and you'll likely come out on top. I can't imagine how busted it is in duels.

Easily my favourite weapon class in the DLC, found it early on in my playthrough and beat the final boss with it, it's so fun to use.

It's goofy that the great katana has a 4 point lower str requirement than the nagakiba
I like the Rakshasa GK moveset, poke R2s are always nice.
I think it doesn’t have any HA, *but* the follow-up R1 when 2Handing is actually insane and basically protects you from making slightly risky plays.
If you over or undershoot your running attack for example, you can follow-up R1 for a quick poke that totally protects you on the ground since it’s a 360 radius

It was love at first sight for me, a duelist's weapon through and through. Reminds me of the DS2 days using the Alonne Greatsword, very tricky but rewarding when used skillfully.

I’ve been ROLLING everything in the DLC with the great katana. It’s such a great weapon. I’m running it with a high arcane build, with a 132 bleed build-up. I’ve always run katanas in this game but the crits with this thing are unreal.
milady is my fav so far, beast claws are also realllll nice, love it

Free aim seems to be more effective on lgs for mobile opponents.
Been loving the beast claws, I'm sure they'll be sick in 1v1s but I've had to drop them in the face of bosses with infinite hyperarmour, using them against Rellana was impossible.
Edit: also the heavy attack on the beast claws feels so odd, you can't turn during the wind-up even when charge attacking, really limits the flexibility.

do you think that the average pvp level is gonna go up with the dlc? been very hesitant to level up much past 125
Id say RL139 is still a reasonable level range since you’ll get a majority of the competitive player base with that (125-150), although there’s a lot of PvEr’s doing NG+ and beyond at 150-200 so trying out 168 is a viable option, although I haven’t tried it I know others say it’s a good level bracket for natural invasions.
For invasions? Almost certainly. For duels? Probably not.

Its kinda funny to me how everything, all the fancy moves and projectiles and so on in From Soft's combat especially with the cool stuff in this game....but when you're fighting real people rather than all of that it always actually comes down to a weapon with good reach, solid swipes, and pokes since so much comes down to roll-catching in pvp.
I like the great katana too. As long as ss you can change the ash of war to something more useful im good.

Dryleaf need a buff btw but I'd be curious to see what you think about them. They lack a lot of forward momentum and have very questionable hitboxes (despite appearing to have a small AOE on heavies).
They actually have a lot of forward momentum, you just have to be really close to your enemy and precise with your aim, as they have laggy tracking.

They deal a ton of poise damage in pve, breaking boss stances all the time, havent tested them in pvp yet.

Oi, they casually quietly added additional move on some of new weapon classes: if you press dodge button during charging attack you do a retreating attack, it's not that big on great katana but on perfumes you practically have same distance as a roll...
That's a feint. thrusting swords and heavy thrusting swords have it too. Also scimitars.

The feint on the Beast claws is pretty fun, it’s a crouching backflip that covers insane distance. I reversed stepped it into a roll attack and hit a host who was like thirty feet away and had no idea what happened. Kinda feels like using Gael’s again.

Bro elden ring players (half at least) in pvp are like 80% ashes of war, it is like they dont know how to win without spamming them when actually knowing about the weapons moveset is what will make you win (like jeenine)

DLC weapons are stronger than their base game equivalents...checks note on Fromsoft history, completely un-surprising.
They definitely need to nerf the amount of spam these host have been producing with these spells and weapons, since I can’t see the majority of invaders survive any of that.🐱
