Really ❤ the soind of Yamaha dx7. Pls make a playlist full of your cover songs on your synthesizers :) really cannot find it here on your channel.
Today: Ooh, a synth! Let me program the crap out of it.
80s pro musicians: just let me use the presets.
Lol.
Yes agreed
Sounds that changed my life....sounds that changed the world of music. 40 years ago, and still today !!!!
Thank you for your feedback
I remember playing one of these in a band back in the mid-90s. It absolutely failed at what I needed it to do. Hearing it lately, it's pretty cool.

Amazing how the technology drove the sounds of the time. Still sounding good. Thanks.
Thank you for watching Arthur :)
There can be only one winner of "Synth of the 80s" and this is it! You can keep your Poly whats-its, and your D50 do-dads.
Sadly, I had the DX27 which was a pale imitation of its big brother.
agree with you Andrew. :)
@@retrosound72t's a shame it fell out of favour, whilst sampling technology of the time completely dominates, even now.
That was great, I wasn't expecting the Mario 64 docks music! Nintendo primarily used patch sets created by Roland for the Super NES and N64 so it probably wasn't a DX7 in the game, but that's clearly what they were going for.
Thank you
I believe the original was made with a Korg DW-8000, it has an electric piano waveform that already sounds like 99% there, and with just the right editing it can be perfected.
Broken Wings made all the hairs on the back of my neck stand up!
Thank you for your comment
Love the DX7 because a lot of people don’t understand it and the power you can release from it. A lot of people and stars used the presets but if you go deep into the technology inside you can make some amazing sounds, even analog sounds that do sound like analog. It’s a great 80s synth that changed the way for better and for worse. But it’s not the synth at fault it was people just using the presets and only few bands used the programming side of it. The only shame is only they made it more like the DX1 which was more easy to program. Anyway love seeing this machine and hearing its wonderful sounds. I think it’s one of the best looking synths made and Jupiter 8 is one of the best looking analog synths made. Thanks for sharing with us and fantastic work as always from you, thank you.
A wonderful versatile synth. Love it. Thank you Michael
Nice job as always! I especially enjoyed the Moti Special piece - Hamburg's finest and led by Michael Cretu (Enigma, Sandra, etc.).
Thank you
One of the best synths ever. Wonderful playing 👍
Thank you
Amazing...
Thank you 🙌
My god so many flashbacks from the 80's. Great video my friend!
Thanks a lot 👍
Great video of this 80’s icon 🎹
Thank you!
@@retrosound72 Welcome.
Das hast Du wieder absolut schön gezeigt! ❤🖐️👍
Vielen lieben Dank Kollege 🙌🎹
2:08 Positively surprised to see this coming up! Nice!
thank you
Thank you so much for the kind words
Best wishes!
👍🎹
i knew all these songs, all these sounds, yet still had no idea it all contains a DX7
You are welcome
Dx7 é ainda hoje um excelente teclado! E essa playlist está sensacional!!!
Yes agree with you
This was used by Axel Beritung of Silent Circle in their original video for 'Touch In The Night'. ;-)
And the PPG
Amazing bro ☺♥sounds love♪♥
SUper song ☺♥♣♦
thank you!
:)
Most excellent demo, Marko. You really have the synths that defined the 80's. This was fun and great to hear with headphones.
Thank you Rick :)))
Depeche mode or Nin songs! 🤩🙏🙏
Last week
Freut mich wirklich sehr.🙌
...und wieder einmal... Zeitreise 😊
vielen Dank!
Perhaps one of your best videos
Perhaps. 😉
I had to give the video a like directly after the Super Mario dire dire docks
Thank you
Excellent!
Thank you :)
Nice Mario addition! :)
thank you
Thanks for the Super Mario ending ... :-)
Thank you for watching 🙌
Thank You retrosound72 apologies for this delayed reply I didn’t realize you responded.
I got it all worked out and gained some knowledge too lol. USA
Thank you for your feedback
These sounds are really good!
Is it possible to obtain these please?
Is there a link?
Thank you, David
Thank you 🙌
That was awesome, thanks so much!
Thank you 🙌
Moti special, will check it.
Michael Cretu. Enigma. Sandra.
Great sound!
Thank you 🎹🙌
Nice video! Anyone know the drone broken wings preset? If it is one?
Thank you
When I heard Moti Special I could feel Michael Cretu's jelly mullet spreading his hairgel stench all around the office ^^ Nice work I like you bellish patches, self programmed or found around the endless collection of the internet ? Keep up the good work
Thank you for your comment
Very Nice Synth of my Childhood. Great as always. 👍🎹
Btw. I've played my newest Cover Song with DX7 Piano Sound. 🙂
Thank you so much :)
Awesome 👏 🎉🎉
Thank you
Does the FD drive still work?
Yes 🙌
@@retrosound72 Nice one: it’s usually just the drive or eject belt that packs in, easy fix. Can’t beat a DX7 for reliability
Moog or emulator II! PLEASE ❤
Check the video last week
QUE PRESIOCIDAD DE TECLADO EL TATA DE TODOS ANIVEL MUNDIAL
🎹🙌
Great demo, specially for those that blamed the DX7 as being sounding gritty and awful. Mr Mr's "Broken Wings" sounds are almost analogue.
Thank you Jose!
Can all these sounds be made on an original DX7? How are they different on a DX7 IID? I would think a lot of the early-mid 80s songs used the original DX7.
Yes. Try it. 👍
Josh Silver! 🤘
🙌
@@retrosound72 😁👍🤝
Anyone know a good tech to speak to about the dx7? I can use some help with mine.
Solid work here as well💯👍👍
Thank you.
Country?
Hello dear friend! I'm wondering how to get the same synth sound that was in the song" Белая ночь"? I watched a lot of videos, but I did not find the same sound.
One million DX7 sounds. Not easy to find the right one.
@@retrosound72 It seems that this main melody was played on the Roland, and not on the Yamaha.
What dx7 sounds did you use on silent running
Self programmed
I've looked on your websites, but can't see if there's somewhere to download these sounds.
If there is, please can you send me a link?
You can`t find the sounds in the web. Mostly is real time progamming.
@@retrosound72 Hi, thank you for your reply.
Do you have the presets stored on your DX7? I'd happily pay for them.
Hello again!❤
I have another question about the synthesizer
Can you guess what kind of synthesizer is here th-cam.com/video/oIDt-haSyJw/w-d-xo.html At 3:10. There is little visual representation, as well as a beautiful spreading sound. The concert was in 1987.
Not easy.
@@retrosound72I agree, but according to my ideas, this is Roland of those years
Is that a preset on Eyes Without a Face?
No present sound
No ROM/patch names to seek out? :(
Patches? I use self programmed sounds
Not MIDI
da hora
👍🎹
It’s funny, how pretty much all of these sounds are the same lol. The GX did one thing very well, which was the Tinkley bright EP sound!
The same? No :D
strings , bass, voices, fx and more can you hear
@@retrosound72 No, I Know...but that tinkly lead is what was mostly used, as evinced in the video! still, a very useful sound!
Yamaha DX7 is best, but better is Yamaha CS80 😎
A matter of taste.
I like the DX sound more
One's a Bentley the other a Lincoln.
This synth's soundd embodies everything I dislike of eighties music.
A matter of taste like the music.
I love the DX7 and music with the DX7
@@retrosound72 offcourse you are absolutely right, it is a matter of taste and personal preference…however mid eighties there was an endless stream of pop hits and all had that same DX7 Linn Drum sound…it was just too much for at the time, hearing the same damn crisp sounding synth in every hit song on the radio. I was just 9-10 years old and could not explain it, years later I found out about these synth’s existence and usage in quite a lot of top ten hits.
🎹🙌
