this EV's biggest problem is that Baidu is irrelevant in China's tech scene. it's essentially Yahoo at this point. that's why the Xiaomi SU7 is getting huge hype and excitement, while this "Robocar 01" is largely unknown/forgotten.
Could you elaborate a bit, please? I mean, what's the main role/segment in which Baidu isn't relevant? For example, which OS powers Avatr, Lotus NIO, Nio or Li Xia? Or Aíto? (Need to admit though that ive been unable to adapt to Baidu as a search engine, for example in already nine years. I jist don't understand hoe the hell it's supposed to provide internet search results
I don't like the auto doors but like smartphones they used to have clicky buttons now they don't so I think all cars won't have door handles within 10 years
I found it very telling the same year Apple apparently decided to give up on its car, Xiaomi released theirs. What else is Apple working on? They are now pivoting to AI because it’s in vogue, but they don’t have anything else going on.

imo, although the review depth and style was good, but the reviewer felt a bit too harsh or biased against the EV, maybe it's just me. But it did feel that way for some reason.
Context is key. When looking at an EV in the Chinese market you are comparing it to the most prolific EV market. By most EV markets around the world this EV is fantastic. Within China the comments are fair and balanced.

@@TheChinaEVShow I think we've seen that generally ADAS, although super cool and interesting, isn't translating into being something that drives sales. Look at Xpeng who have staked a large amount of their reputation on their ADAS system. Personally I think it's difficult to communicate to a customer on a short test drive that your ADAS is superior to another companies. ADAS ability requires more education of the consumer, that takes a lot of time and money.

And: you might wait because CATL as well as BYD announced that they will halve the prices of their batteries between July and August 2024 (don't take this vagueness of time as BYDs abd CATLs fault...vecause it is me just not remembering too precise + being too lazy to switch tabs and too look it up (but not too lazy to type all of this text)).
I wish WheelsBoy did a video on what its like to own/drive an EV in china and what the EV infrastructure is like and how usable is it compared to other countries. I see all these pushes for EV cars coming out from china all the time but i have strong doubt that theres as much adoption for them there given the economy and classes of society.
NEVs (BEVs + Hybrids) made up 50% of new vehicles last month in China. Adoption rate of NEVs in China is massive. Charging infrastructure for the most part is very robust compared to when I drove an EV back in the UK for a few days. Example the charger maps in the UK classes 50kW+ as fast chargers. Haha. In China the slowest “fast chargers” are 120kW and those are consider dog slow. Plenty of 150kW, many 350kW chargers and now we’re seeing 500kW+ chargers rolling out.
As far as I can tell, yes you can absolutely do that. There was no voice command set up, i just yelled at the car and it responded. I'm thinking that would be a very funny thing to do if i ever see someone near their Jiyue hahaha
The problem is there are 123 chinese car brands, and so uv got stiff competition so stiff that even cool interesting manufacturers like hiphi are facing profibility problems, so it ain't easy to compete.
I think my problem with the design is that Jiyue advertises itself in the market as this futuristic, advanced Smart EV company, and the styling just doesn't speak to that. As I said in the review, I don't think there is a bad angle, it just doesn't have that wow factor, for me at least.
It's not the only one. But it's far from common. My NIO ET7 has only a DC port. In fact all Chinese NIO NT2 are DC only. They added an A/C outlet for the ones sold in Europe though. NIO sell a 11kW home charger with a DC connection.

I don't like the style of this reviewer at all: 1. his strong accent make it quite difficult for people not used to British accent to understand what he's saying - this is even more important for non native english speakers, who will struggle compared to Ethan, which instead is quite easy to understand. 2. he's speaking too slow, and with a lack of energy. 3. the review itself is boring. That never happened to me before in a review of this channel. 4. please don't assume that all people watching this channel uses imperial measures - we are not. In fact, it is probably the opposite, since the US is the only country on the entire planet that it does (4% of the world population). Please use the standard metric system, eventually using also other local (old and obsolete) unit of measurement if you want to help people not used to it (ex. "I'm 1,75m (or 5 feet 9 inches) tall"). Thank you. So, not meaning to be rude, but I'll probably skip the next reviews with this reviewer...unless is really a car I'm looking for.

Perhaps you felt that way due to your perceived "lack of energy" on the delivery. 4 - I did unfortunately use feet and inches for my height, an oversight by me, however every other stat was given in metic. I do hope you return to watch my reviews in the future, it would be a shame to lose you as a viewer. Side note, i'm not happy with the audio quality, It's something we are working on. It's true Baidu is kind of the the old guard in terms of tech. But for robotaxis they are up there. And for mapping they are a leader.
