Titus, the "child" in the 40k episode is the main character of Space Marine and Space Marine 2, voiced by Mark Strong in the original and by Cilve Standen from Vikings in the sequel.
If you like the 40k episode: "Astartes" is a fan-made set of 5 episodes made by one of the guys who was included in creating this, his name is Syama Pederson, in which he created it all by himself. Should definitely check it out, this is basically like an unofficial Astartes 2. Would definitely like to see what you think of it!
Im begging you guys, please keep going with this series. Even if you don't know the games, the quality of the episodes is good enough to justify covering. It's probably the most epic anthology I've seen in years.
For context, the demon in the 40k episode with the ugly eye had the power to look into their greatest fear and then manifest it to kill you with it. Of the three you showed, the first feared dying locked in his armour, so it killed him by crushing his head within the armour. The second was Titus’ mentor, who feared Titus’ potential strength falling to corruption and betraying him, so he was stabbed by an imperial blade. The last one, Titus himself, had no fear, and so when the demon looked at him, he was able to look right back, terrifying the demon, breaking its hold and killing it as it retreated.
or one might say, his fear of failing was lesser to his indomitable spirit, because his fear does manifest as a small boy, failed becoming what he could become... but he does not let the fear rule him, it is a part of his past, not his present.
@@kinagrill The manifestation of himself was The Boy Who Has Never Known Fear. Titus has never once fear anything in his life. He has only ever known pain and rage, and he focuses that into destroying the enemies of mankind.
Personally I believe the fear of the first marine was that as a space marine, whether via the process of becoming one or the acts he has performed in the name of the Emperor, what made him human was torn out of him and crushed.
Syama Pedersen, who was a layout artist for the 40k episode, got his big break as an animator directing a 40k fan film microseries called “Astartes,” which is AWESOME and you should react to it. It was so well-made - and keep in mind, he did virtually all of it himself - that Games Workshop, which is notoriously hostile toward fan projects, officially recognized it as canon. Astartes is available on TH-cam and it is incredible.
12:41 StarCraft was originally meant to be a Warhammer 40K game, but Blizzard couldn’t get (maybe lost?) the rights, so they had to rework the game for legal reasons giving birth to StarCraft. That’s why it shares so many similarities with the 40K universe. Terran Marines? Basically Space Marines. The Protoss? Heavily inspired by the Aeldari (Eldar). And the Zerg? Basically the Tyranids.
Warcraft and starcraft were never supposed to be warhammer titles, they are Chris Metzens own setting within those universes that he then made his own IP for as part of blizzard entertainment. Are they very similar to their original inspiration for setting? Yes, but that doesnt mean it is the same.
@@zZSleepytimeZz not originally GW titles, but very much inspired by them. Blizzard is pretty infamous for taking IP and gameplay elements from other products as "inspiration," changing them enough to be legally dissimilar, and then polishing the hell out of it (comparatively). I just loved the expressions all the way through that WH40K short. It makes me so happy! Hopefully this won't be the last we see off Warhammer from you guys. The Emperor Protects!
Rule 1 of Warhammer 40K if there is a named character you don’t fuck with them as they will kill you period especially Titus who was the child. Also the fuel would not be the tears of men that’s too happy it would be the tears of dying babies and orphaned children or something like that that’s more on the same level for 40k😂.
To add to Rule 1: ESPECIALLY if they’re a named Ultramarine. They have more plot armor than anyone. Malum Caedo, Marneus Calgar, Cato Sicarius, Demetrian Titus…
Starcraft was supposed to be a 40k game, but GW and the developers had a spat, and it ended up being changed just enough to release without GW copyright issues.
That is not true, Blizzard finished work on two adaptations of DC Comics games and hated the process because they had to follow the characters and overall lore of DC, when they started making their next game the vast majority of the developers wanted to do their own IP so they would have total creative control over it, only a few at the top wanted to use another companies IP because they thought it would guarantee more sales to existing fans. So Blizzard based the initial art of their new game around Warhammer Fantasy and even arranged a meeting with Games Workshop to show them a tech demo of the game, but GW didn't want to hand over their IP to Blizzard without oversight and Blizzard didn't want to work under strict IP control from GW so they never came to an agreement. Blizzard kept the heavily inspired by Warhammer Fantasy art style and let their writers come up with anything they wanted, this ultimately became Warcraft. When it came time for a new title they wanted to do a Sci-Fi game and some of the devs were fans of 40k but the game was never meant to be a 40K game nor was it ever offered to GW as one. The rumour about Starcraft and 40k persists because people misremember the Fantasy connection, but it has never been true.
It seems, from the comments in this video, that this isn't the case. I don't know. It seemed to be common knowledge before Starcraft was even released as I remember. Maybe the history got rewritten for some company or another's best interest (not uncommon) or maybe they somehow the IP's weren't related at all. I don't really care one way or the other but it has always seemed blatant to me that Starcraft was supposed to be a Warhammer game. I mean, just look at it.
The vehicle sequence was so good, I had to rewind the video and see it again. It's one of the insanely awesome things Titus has ever done - and that's saying something.

Fun fact about 19:26 "More blood for the Blood god" actually comes from Warhammer 40k.
