Absolutely true. I have finished my char dham yatra just one week before the 2013 disaster and returned to Hyderabad. I have seen with my eyes as to how constructions are made all over with out any regard for Nature. One has to pay the penalty one day or the other. In the name of encouraging tourism, all sorts of deviations are approved and allowed. Several European countries with hilly terrain also attract huge numbers of tourists on regular basis but there adherence to the legal regime is inviolable. I've been to manali 30 days back,and was so sad that people have encroached so much inside the river and thus releasing raw sewage in the river ,it was really sad to see our rivers dying

Most of the damage is to the property built on flood plains. River will definitely claim such things once in 20 years😢

Actually this heavy downpour is due to western disturbance. We in Delhi too had same heavy downpour on 8th n 9 th july which broke record of 40 years.

I just came back from Himachal on 2nd of July and now this happened. When we were travelling to mandi on 23rd june, the landslide happened. It was so damn scary. I recommend every one not to travel during monsoon.🙏

It was a wonderful experience.
Nature and peace all around, and not much hilly areas (like Shimla) although the route is longer compared to Shimla.

Hi...I am shocked at the devastation. I was in Kullu & Manali vacationing with my family till 7th July 2023. I am from Guwahati, Assam....... on 8th July 2023 early morning I left Manali for Chandigarh and reached Delhi on the same day. I am lucky and fortunate to escape the wrath of nature. However I am also from North East India and that too is a hilly zone I feel that large scale cutting of trees for construction of the highways have caused this devastation... Such a beautiful place but at the same time we must think of building roads without cutting the trees. My sympathies with the people of Kullu and Manali and pray that all the people are safe there. Also pray that all the tourists who are stranded there can safely reach their homes.

दिल खुश हो गया ये मंजर देख के। काश सभी लोग अभी से भी सुधर जाएं और नदियों के रास्ते में जबरन कब्जा करके घर बार ना बनाएं। सरकारों से भी एक अपील है की ऐसे कब्जा करने वालों के घर नदियों द्वारा तोड़ने से पहले ही खुद ही तोड़ दे तो ज्यादा अच्छा होगा। ऐसे हादसे होने बहुत ही जरूरी है तभी इंसान को अपनी औकात पता रहेगा। काश दिल्ली में जो बाढ़ आया है वो और भयानक रूप ले के यमुना का पूरा रास्ता साफ कर दे तो मुझे बहुत खुशी होगी। ईश्वर से प्रार्थना है की और बारिश कराएं ताकी नदियों को अपनी पुरानी इज्जत मिल सके। आज नदी को लोग नाला बना रखे हैं।
