  • Sleeping with your cat each night might seem like just a cozy habit, but it's actually a practice that can deepen the bond between you and your feline friend. If you start sleeping with your cat each night, you'll quickly discover why cats choose to sleep with us. It's not just about finding the warmest spot on the bed; it's about trust and companionship. Cats often choose to sleep with their owners to feel safer and more secure, expressing their trust and affection. So, the next time your cat curls up by your leg or snuggles beside you, know it's their way of saying they love and trust you.
Letting your cat sleep with you isn't just beneficial for your cat; it can have positive effects on you as well. Many cat owners find that sleeping with their cat helps them relax and fall asleep more easily, thanks to the calming presence and purring of their pet. However, the question of 'Can I sleep with my cat?' often comes up, especially concerning health and safety. Rest assured, sleeping with your cat is generally safe for both of you, provided your cat is healthy and free of fleas or other parasites. It's a practice that can enhance your relationship with your cat, offering comfort and companionship throughout the night.

Mine too. She lived to be 22 years old. Come Saturday morning with the alarm turned off, I would be awaken by the lightest touch of a furry paw on my nose or cheek reminding me that I needed to get up for work. If I didn’t need to get up for work, now that I was awake, I might as well feed her since I was awake. 🐈 😂

I'm just crazy about these furry things! I sometimes look after my Sister's cat, but my Sister isn't really a cat person so, when I get to look after Mila, I go ALL out and treat her like the Queen she is! Fresh sea food, treats, cuddles and yeah! Because she has unfettered access to my house, she often jumps into bed with me in the middle of the night.
I swear she gets sad and distressed when I have to take her back! I know I do! But after losing my own cat several years ago, I'm not sure if I could go through owning a cat again. At least not right now... We REALLY can get attached to them on a deep level... And when they leave us, they leave a gaping hole behind...

Losing your soulcat, Xander, must have been incredibly tough, especially after 14 years of such close companionship and nightly cuddles. It's understandable that adjusting to sleep without him took so much time; the bond you shared sounds deeply special and irreplaceable. The term "soulcat" really captures the essence of that once-in-a-lifetime connection between you two. As time goes on, I hope the memories of those cuddle-filled nights bring you more comfort than sadness, reminding you of the love and beautiful moments you shared. Xander sounds like he was truly the best cuddle buddy, and his memory will always be a part of you. Sending you warmth and comfort as you remember him. 🐾💖

My Joey baby isn’t much of a purrer (he’d rather make biscuits/knead to express his contentment), but before I was diagnosed with Gastroparesis (which is, apparently, difficult to diagnose, and left me couch-bound for awhile because walking AT ALL felt like my innards were being shredded apart), my baby would lay on my stomach and purr like a running engine. It was really one of the only things that relieved the pain.

I have 9 cats. I leave my bedroom door open so the can come and go as they please. They are all indoor cats. Our oldest is 19. He is a half-Bengal and now completely blind with age. He sleeps in my adult son's room. He never ventures out of there and my son is there most of the time. He still enjoys curling up on my son's lap. We lost his brother to old-age and illness last year and we know we won't have Benji for too much longer but for now, he is still enjoying life and eating well. One of our cats is a former semi-feral/stray we rescued 16 months ago. It's taken him time to learn to trust us but he does now. He sleeps every night on the pillow behind mine and often sleeps with his belly exposed - a sign of total trust. My other faithful feline friends are my ginger and white cat. He sleeps close to me every night and likes to be facing me. If I turn round, he moves so he's again sleepiing facing my face. My other black cat sleeps by my feet. One thing they like is my old fleece dressing gown which I leave draped on the bed for them. Do I sleep better? Absolutely yes. Their gentle purrs soothes me to sleep.

However, some young adults stay home to care for a sickly parent or stay home (but help around the house) as they're saving money for their own home.

Tink has hiding places I’m not privy to, but often joins us. When I wake, they take turns coming to wish me good afternoon. I’m harness training them to be able to take them outside. In the summer when it’s extremely hot (I do not use A/C, except when it gets to 3 digits or a combination of humidity) He will sleep at the foot of my bed, or in a location where he can get the most breeze from the window on my bed. My entire family was allergic to cats we ended up slowly coming into contact with strays we ended up taking in. Within a few months my cat allergies was gone, it took a bit longer for other family members. My family went from allergic to cats to having numerous cats. Now I do still get itchy eyes from certain cats I’m not exactly used to but after a few days I’m no longer allergic to them. So whenever I get a new cat I get the itchty eyes from certain breeds but it goes away. Not everyone can do this, some people will stay allergic no matter how much contact they have with a cat, but most people allergic to cats can easily become not allergic with more exposure

Smile…I go to sleep each night with one cat at my head, one at my back massaging my neck, and one under the covers. A purr symphony!!

I’m in my 40s, have owned cats all my life and I FINALLY got a night time cuddle cat last year. Freddy jumps up and cuddles into my arm (I sleep on my side) every single night. He has his own pillow that he curls up on. Unfortunately he is not a purring cat so I don’t get that enjoyment but heck, I take what I can get. ❤😂❤❤

My 1-1/2 year old Russian Blue cat doesn't purr!
I've had cats all my life and never knew some do not purr. I wish I knew why, though. She's super affectionate and doesn't shed (!) and follows me everywhere. Such a love.
My animals are my life ^. .^ ~

It's not too uncommon for some cats to be less vocal or not purr loudly. The fact that she's super affectionate and follows you everywhere shows she's happy and loves you a lot, even if she doesn't show it through purring. It sounds like you've got a wonderful bond with her, and her unique way of showing love makes your connection with her even more special. 🐾💙

My cat Buddy purred when he was a kitten, but now he just grunts. It just sounds like he's snoring. 😻😻

My cat has his own bed on my bed near my head, he loves it. It works out for us both. We can both move when we want without disturbing each other.

One of my cats snuggles with me every night, usually sharing my pillow. The other two snuggle more often than not, but usually not for the entire night. I once dated someone who hated having the cats in the bedroom or on the bed. We broke up pretty quickly 😅
Don’t make me choose between you and my cats… because you will always lose 💜

My prior cat used to get on my back and purr right into my ear. Never slept better in my life. He would also share my pillow. It was amazing and spoiled me. My current cat seems to love me but doesn't do any of those things. She only sleeps at my feet. I hate the distance she insists on. But I can't force it or change her behavior. Still glad to have her in my life

Try giving her a treat closer to where you want her. She might over time just lie there. I had to train my 25lb cat that he could not sleep on my chest. I used treats to get him to my side. Now that is where he sleeps.
