to all the people making comments about her weight, my best friend is super active and eats like a goddamn horse (she practically inhales food), but because of her metabolism and build, shes also has a very visible ribcage. you honestly cant judge somebodys health from their appearance, and to be honest it really isnt our business anyways. aside from that, lights killed that performance and she looks badassssssss
petrichoree She did kill the performance. However, people are going to worry about her because she has been getting abnormally thin. And it's true we don't know her position. I'm someone who was under 90 pounds up until I got out of college and that was eating like every other person does. You could never see my ribcage that visibly on my chest. People are just worried. It doesn't mean they don't still think she's awesome. I personally think she's one of the best artists out there.
The same goes for some fat people. I'm friggin' one of them. Between hypothyroidism and medications, I gained weight while eating less that 1000 calories a day and daily excercise. I used to be a minor league hockey player and my body was a finely tuned athletic machine at one time, but I was forced into retirement due to injuries. I get made fun of or called lazy because I'm overweight and it's entirely out of my control. So next time one of you goes to clown on a skinny or fat person, stop, think and ask yourself if you'd make fun of a black person for being black? Hell no you wouldn't. Me being overweight is just as much out of my control as a person of color can choose their skin tone. Fatism is a thing, just like racism.
I saw her perform 10 years ago and she was thin then, but she looked GOOD then, she doesn't look good now, she looks sick now. Stop defending sickness.
Chris Rackley She is not defending sickness she is just telling people like you to not worry so much because lights knows what she is supposed to do with her health and she knows that she is thin and does not need people telling her that she is skinny so do not worry so much cause you are not her doctor.

Is it possible that what you're all misconstruing as an eating disorder is really just her "tour weight"? Most performer's lose weight while on the road. Performance IS exercise. Michael Jackson was always disturbingly frail during a tour because he was burning more calories every night than he was consuming during the day. That's just how it goes with these professional musicians. It doesn't always mean starvation.
Seriously her tour was amazing. I saw in Vancouver on her opening show and literally so professional, engaging, fun, and fucking magical. Totally cried. Love you Lights!!

Stop spreading misinformation so you can pretend that you're championing some progressive cause, and actually educate yourself lest you encourage someone to kill themselves.
@Laura Redfield Yes. If you are as skinny as Lights is in this video, you certainly fall under the spectrum of "abnormal" when compared to the populace at large. "Abnormal" is not inherently bad, but being that underweight will have its own set of problems.
I'm quite educated, thanks, both as a personal fitness trainer and years of studying psychology. As I mentioned in another comment this has nothing at all to do with "body types". The term you're talking about is called somatotypes, a term that was invented in the 1940s by an American psychologist and has much to do with this trend of "body types" occurring. That said, somatotypes has been regarded as a myth for quite some time now. Nobody of any repute believes that theory.
You may believe yourself to be an ectomorph (naturally skinny), but unless you have a medical condition, that's just not the case. Your activity levels and caloric intake are going to be much larger factors in your size than "just because". Your bone structure is one thing, but your ability to gain or lose fat / muscle mass? Quite another. If you're so sure that you're unable to gain weight, track what you eat for a week. Add an extra 1,000 calories per day. Track for another week.
If there has been no increase in your weight, post your findings to the local newspaper... You might just be a medical marvel, and I'm sure someone would like to pay you to conduct studies, allowing the scientific community to better understand how the body interacts with foods, and what could be causing this mysterious result, and so would I.
How can a personal fitness trainer create plans for what their clients should be eating / doing to achieve a certain physique, whether that means to gain weight or lose it in their pursuit of fitness goals if there's not methodology behind it? Should I just say, as a personal trainer "There's nothing that can be done for you... That's just your body type."? Preeetty sure the fitness industry would collapse overnight if that was actually a thing.
While you're at it, learn what "double negatives" are... 'cause "don't respect nothing" means that I respect at least one thing, and I'm sure that's not what you were trying to say.
I don't "need" to do anything, neither do you. The word "respect" is tied in with admiration. I don't need to admire someone for their physical appearance. If I thought like you, maybe I should say that you "need" to respect me for my "brain type". But that kind of thinking is naive. What I understand is as a result of studying, not just randomly claiming things. I'm not a kid, but I sure hope you are. Thinking the way you do as an adult would be quite unfortunate.

Tanini when you do live production everything has a microphone on it that goes to the sound desk. By doing this they can record everything directly from the stage and microphones. Gives a better sound quality than just using a microphone on a camera etc. then they’ll master them like normal songs on an album and it becomes an audio file :)

I don't know why people keep saying "naturally thin people exist" as if that somehow means an eating disorder must be ruled out. I'm naturally thin (not this thin), but I'm still worried about her weight.
I've been a fan since the beginning and have been noticing her getting waay thinner suddenly. I always wonder why people get so defensive when someone is worried about someone they care about possibly having an eating disorder.. is it not okay to worry or question?
Nobody is able to watch her 24/7, so you can't say she's completely healthy and I can't say she's not. We can only assume. I hope she's okay. :)

I think Lights is a great singer, I enjoy her music. If that's how her body is, that's how it is. I'm making an observation. She DOESN'T look healthy to me. But maybe she is healthy, maybe she just can't gain weight. It happens on occasion. But if it is due to a disorder, I feel bad for her. If it is just a look that she enjoys, I lose respect. Promoting this sort of body type is unhealthy. It can be accepted in its natural state, but it should not be applauded because for THE VAST MAJORITY of women to have a body like hers, they would have to stop eating. THAT body cannot be achieved through diet and exercise. It's very important that young women today do not get the idea that THIS is what they should look like. I imagine you're calling me overweight because you think I am jealous. Contrary to popular belief, people do not always say "mean" things because they are jealous. When you grow up a bit, I'm sure you'll understand that better. In the end, my opinion stands. Whether she is healthy or not, she sure doesn't look it, and I hope that young women will not wish to look like her.
