Yes, last time I did outer CV boots I was lucky to find GW had a special offer on, CV plus boots were only R50 more than the boot alone. So new CV joints went in instead, saved around 20 minutes of cleaning out the goop and sand out of the old ones, plus I got a nice new set of marbles to use. Thing I did learn the hard way, to replace that inner spring clip every time you pop it out, it tends to lose tension after a few goes, and popped out as I was turning a corner. Suddenly had 5 gears, all neutral, and had to climb under the vehicle with a makeshift hammer (shifting spanner doing double duty) and tap the CV back into place, and the next day go to Ford and pay them the R35 for that clip. Bought 3, so that I could have a new one the other side as well, plus a spare for the tool box.
This is how we learn Sean, it takes an incident to realize the folly of our ways, thanks for your insights and constant interaction, I appreciated it immensely. Gary.

Neat trick with using a section of the old inner boot a definite Hugh money saver and out of the box thinking, great video, thanks Gary.
