Codes are bare minimum requirements. If you want to be a great contractor/tradesman, go above and beyond for your customers. If they want you to do something against code, grow a pair and stand your ground. The customer isn't always right, but they need to be informed of what codes are AND why they exist in each scenario that they may not agree with. Most of the time, it's for their safety.

At the end of the show they put in cabinets that cost nearly twice as much as the plain ones he had put in. It is no longer a basic white kitchen. The guy mentions $30,000, and that is probably what they spent to put in the new kitchen. It also suggests the people were unhappy with the white look. It does look pretty cheap, but the gripes about the craftsmanship were minor. Bedell does make a mountain out of a molehill even though i agree they all needed to be replaced.
He could remake new doors in a day. Not a big expense for such cheap cabinets. That was why i said it was minor. As for the design nobody can tell me they haven't been asked to do something that didn't look right because the people insisted even across a 'helpful' suggestion. I thought they were hideous but who judges their customer's taste? Not defending the guy just saying what they received was much more than they could ever have afforded.
I couldn't hear over the half second camera transitions and loud, overly dramatic music. Keep it organic and set yourself apart from the consistency of reality television. Great idea for the premise of the show however.

My parents have been scammed , dude took off with $20,000 and never got the job done. He wants to return $11,000 only because he claims he bought materials already. Told him send a pic and invoices , and no picture or invoice. The court system is so fucked up , that It gets tricky and expensive to sue a contractor . Gotta be on your feet with these guys.
I think these two guys catching a contractor are wanna-Be Tough Guys showing the World how Tough and how too be Bullies and how Spike now paramount can spread Racism Over the air-waves. The two host's lack Class , empathy , tack on any given day id not ever hire them two if they were the last two Goof's on earth .You choice of programming is very poor choice Paramount .
