Thanks for sharing! I like the idea of setting a monthly goal with some wiggle room. I've always struggled with hard limits, but I like this idea. Also the big goal and more realistic level/max. I'll have to apply that idea to my other hobbies too!
Im working on a detox this year. I have 20 and i don't want to go above that on canvas kits. Money is something i never considered in a roadmap. I'm Australian so paintings are pretty pricey when converted. I shudder to think at stash of 20 how much that is.😅 But this year i have kinda made a promise that if i REALLY want a painting, it'll have to fall on a sale or discount code. Just to not be so harsh on myself. Or if it's a painting i REALLY want and i have space in my 20 limit.
I do love how organized you are or seem to be. In 2024 I created an excel spreadsheet listing all the paintings I have purchased, ones that have been completed, destashed, donated, etc. At least now I can calculate the level of my stash whenever I want. My only plan right now is decreasing my stash in 2025. I'm very aware that I can decide when to measure the change in my stash, so it is at a time that my stash is lower than the last time I calculated the balance. 😉 You were one of my inspirations for these steps. Thank you, Lisette!!
The 3 canvases I had my heart set on were out of stock on Black Friday. When those restock, those are my only definite and planned purchases coming up. ❤ Thank you for your great advice.
@LisetteCraftsandTells I really ponder kits before purchasing so they do often sell out before I get them! I guess that's a good way to control your stash. These are the ones I am watching for: Dreamer Designs "Out of This World" by Wumples (it's an astronaut) DAC: "Winifred" by Claudia McKinney (Halloween kit) "Cozy Christmas" by Rita Konya Being a slow diamond painter keeps costs down 😅
In your roadmap, does the number of paintings or the budget take priority? Like if you use the budget for DP for 3 months but have say 4 spaces in your stash, would you buy more or wait? I guess its up to everyone personally depending on their circumstances but im just curious.
For me it's about the number of paintings. The budget isn't a real issue for me - I just added that in because in my mind that's a reasonable amount to spend on my hobby. The number of paintings is key - so I just ordered one painting from a company instead of two (even though you would tend to buy two to get the free shipping)
My goal this year is a stash detox not with an absolute no buy BUT a very picky and limited buy. It hasnt been too tough yet but I suspect it will get harder as DAC and others have new releases. Love this video series!❤
Great video. Thanks for taking the time to walk us through your process. I'm definitely going to work on my stash and scale back my buying going forward 🙂
Taken me all day to decide what I want to do....I am going to do two done (or de-stashed), one can come in, and keep my budget at 50% of last year at the most. With everything in life getting more expensive, I need to shift some of the craft money to other things.
Hi Lisette - you have really been inspiring me with these videos. It's taken me all day, but I've put my entire stash in an Excel spreadsheet. I've never calculated my stash before. To be honest, I feel a little sick about my data. Total kits in stash - 108 Total number of drills - 5,992,855 Amount I normally get done per annum - 5 to 10 Total time to do entire stash - at least 10 years without any new purchases. HELP! I think I need to sell at least 30. Can you please make a video about how I can get rid of some? Thank you!
Don't feel bad. Just take it from here. I can't help you with destashing, because I've never done that myself. I do know that the Principal Painter did a video once about de-stashing. Maybe that can help you?

Hi Gail, yes thanks - I read/heard somewhere that high-low goals work better that set goals. So I thought I would give it a try....

Sounds like a healthy take on things. I would do it like that too if I were you.
Great video, thanks for sharing. I’m actually working on a detox - yes, your previous videos showing your detox progress was inspiring.
Oh wow - well keep it up and keep me updated okay?
@ will do.

Ah thanks so much for letting me know. I really appreciate that.
I'm also working on the detox of my current stash. I think there are a number of ideas in this series that can help!! Thank you!
Thanks Grace and keep me updated about your detox okay? It's hard, but you can do it. I'll cheer you on.
@LisetteCraftsandTells thank you! I appreciate the support. Using your ideas and suggestions I think I'll do it!
Wow!! It is incredible how organized and strong you are! My budget will be a low buy. Thank you so much!🥰🤗❤️
Dear friend - I think a low buy is the perfect budget for you. Hugs

Oeeehhh now I'm intrigued - which ones???

Excellent and very reasonable, I feel. Thanks for posting!
Thanks so much Nancy
I LOVE that you give yourself some wiggle room. I have an overall budget which includes diamond painting.
Yes, I read somewhere that wiggle room works better than a set target - so I'm giving it a go...

Awesome goal and yes, definitely recommend a low buy over a no buy. Keep me updated okay?

Thanks for taking the time to watch my process Lisa
Very clear and easy way to keep track 👍
Thanks Marla
