    Hi Brian & Michelle! Enjoyed the video, your editing is great. The battle of too much stuff goes on and on. It is always a struggle to keep from buying stuff we really don’t need. The thing is to change a lifetime habit is not easy. I can just imagine what was going through your mind when you were stacking more and more into the Airstream. Somehow we always make it work! Sounds like the pros are outweighing the cons. Enjoy Yuma, it’s a great town and has everything you might need.

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you very much, Clay! It’s always stressful at first but the thing to try to always keep in your mind is that it always works out.
      Yes the pros are outweighing the cons so far. What is funny is when you hear someone tell you...”you know there’s not much room in those Airstreams don’t ya?” 😂 Then, the same person goes and buys a big if the wheel and comes back to ya and says, “look at all of our room we have!” 😂🤣 Some just don’t get it why some people want to downsize (but not too far lol). We may go to a fifth wheel or back to a Class A someday, but what we want and need right now is right here. It’s nice and refreshing to hear comments from people like yourself that do get it. We have known a few people that went big and are really regretting their decision now and wanting to downsize. It all depends on each person’s needs. I always say, don’t listen to what others want and tell you what you should buy...make that decision on your own gut feeling.
      We haven’t had much of a chance to explore Yuma yet (other then Da Boyz Pizza - very good and great cauliflower crust pizzas) Thanks again, Clay!

      @@LivinRVision Your welcome! Da Boyz is good. We went there recently with our niece from Portland, who was down here to have dental work in Los Algodones, Mexico. We had the pizza and it was fantastic.I recommend Mi Ranchos, El Charros and Zarapes if you like Mexican food. I agree with your comment to take with a grain of salt what others think you should do!

      You’re not gonna believe this but Michelle and I were just now talking about getting dental work there in Mexico at the same time she looked down and seen your message. LOL what dentist did she go to and what was her experience? I was just trying to read reviews this morning but most of the reviews are very dated. There’s some horror stories out there along with some good reviews.

    We have been in our 2021 AS 27FB International for 4 months and we are still rearranging the storage. But we are finding more storage space all the time. Found that soft sided baskets form to the curved walls of the cabinets and were a big help. Know how you guys feel about being overwhelmed with stuff. When we picked up our AS in Las Vegas and transferred our belonging from the trade-in Class C we looked like you two in the video (and it was 100 degrees that day). We had to load up the bed of the pick-up and make a run to Goodwill with a lot of donations including some of the pillows that AS included in the delivery.
    Well, happy traveling and more storage space will appear as you use up your supplies that you bought in large containers.

      Yes those dreaded slides and also the jacks was always a worry too. The jacks aren’t as much of a worry on this. Just back up on blocks/Anderson blocks, level the front to back with your tongue jack and just let down the stabilizer jacks just enough to stabilize the coach left to right. Pretty easy Peezy much less to worry about.

      Hello! 👋 We are not missing the slides at all. We’ve adapted well to the smaller living space, once we found places to put all our stuff! 😂 That’s the good thing about Airstream, they have well thought out compartments all through out the rig and under the bed.
      We are not sure about the tire leveling blocks. Might get some wood boards to use instead, which is what we had with the motorhome. These tend to slide some and sink into loose ground.

    I’m enjoying your first couple of videos with the Airstream. We have a Classic 33 on order and hope to have it in June (fingers crossed). We are coming from a 33 foot Class C RV, so this will be an adjustment for us. We will be towing with a F350 and we are struggling with how we will carry our e-bikes (which do not fold). Still trying to decide between a retractable tonneau cover versus a topper. Also trying to determine what type of generator to carry (our Class C had an onboard generator). We are looking forward to watching your future videos with details on things you like or don’t, as well as recommendations and your modifications. Gas Buddy works great for gas OR diesel actually. Sometimes you can find diesel cheaper than the places that the TSD has. Some of those places can be very hard to get into when pulling an RV, so we try to find those after we unhook and then just drive the truck by itself to fill up. TSD is handy when traveling & hooked up to get fuel cheaper.

    Congrats, guys! A couple of questions: how big is that desk and is it usable space (because of the window lip)? Is the chair over on the side so it doesn't block the TV projector? What if you're left handed ... can the desk be rebuilt easy enough by a reasonable carpenter? Cheers! G

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! 😊🤓 The desk is 5’ 8” long and 22 1/2” deep. Plenty of desk space and WAY more than what Michelle had in our motorhome.
      I just sat in the chair with the projector on and no, it surprisingly does not block the view. Also, on any projector, you can also adjust your picture size to make it smaller or bigger, but it is not obstructed even at full picture size when sitting there unless you lean to the right for something. Short answer, no. 😂
      You can do many different things like you can with pretty much anything. At first I wondered why they didn’t put the chair in the middle part of the desk and make two storage areas to the left and right, but then I realize because you would be obstructing the screen/projection. Many things are possible if you don’t like it. I just installed a keyboard tray under the desk for her and it turned out really well and gives her more desk space plus she says it puts her arms at the right height now for her keyboard and makes the chair much more comfortable sitting low like it does. Now she does not need a pillow to sit on to raise herself up higher.

      Hi Tommy. Yep, I have checked all of this as well as bleeding the lines. If I were to explain the diagnosis in great detail it would be more understandable why it is not any of those things, but it does seem to be the board which we are working on trying to get one. At the time we shot this video the definition of the system not working was very vague because that’s all I knew at the time, but have been diagnosing it every chance I get since then. I’ve even called Truma (Alde) and their support agrees after explaining. I love to figure these things out myself. Love the challenge. 👍🏻

    If I may ask, how big a pain was it getting license plates for the new truck and trailer? What state? Did you have to pay taxes on them too?

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Kevin! Our domicile is in South Dakota so that is the state our registrations are going through. To be honest, the dealership we bought the truck from is taking care of it but they are taking their sweet time and we haven’t received the plates/registration yet. The lender for our Airstream is taking care of the registration for that so we’re hoping we get both of these fairly soon.

    Thanks for your video and your straight-forward opinions. Excellent recommendation to NOT put a bike-rack with bikes at the back of a trailer! I have seen quite a lot of such break-dancing trailers on our European highways. More and more elderly (not you!) Rvers here in Europe have foldable e-bikes of high quality. They store them inside their Class Bs, Cs, or cars, which also reduces the probabilty of theft. I am very close to my seventies and, for years, have had a foldable British-made BROMPTON, non-electric. Once stored in my car, when it pulled a trailer, now stored in my HYMER van, this bike is quality-wise as good as the once unbeatable German beetle. Greetings from rainy and snowy Bavaria, Germany.

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello! 👋 Yes it just makes sense to not put so much weight on the back of the trailer. More chances to twist the frame of the trailer causing other issues. The e-bikes are great but they are much more heavier than regular bikes. Agree, storing inside vehicle reduces the chance for theft too.
      Stay safe! 🧡😁🤓

    Did ya get the TPMS on yet? FYI...there is a TPMS for inside the tire that also does temperature too and that way it won't have an outside wheel sensor..also did ya install your 30 amp fuse in the 250? Lastly Alde had a recall on their system..not sure if you knew that.

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Mike, I knew about the sensors inside the tires which are connected to the back of the valve stems, but I and most people like to have a better system when pulling like the TST TPMS so that you have warnings with temperature and have everything right there on a monitor all together to keep an eye on with a quicker warning as well. I had to send back 4 of the sensors because they were all flow-thru sensors and only the Airstream had metal valve stems. Cap sensors are needed for the rubber valve stems.
      I’ve been in contact with Alde (which is actually Truma now) and no mention of a recall on our system. There has been a few updates, like the 3010 to the 3020 and software updates to the Firefly.
      Thanks for mentioning, ya never know! 👍🏻😊🤓

      Thanks! Been working on diagnosing it with Truma who took over for Alde now and no resolution. However, I believe it is the main board. We had a guy here locally take a look and he thinks it’s the board also. I’ll probably end up getting the board and installing it myself. We have a few road blocks getting this figured out but we’ll get it.

    Looking good! Yeah storage - travel trailer vs. a Class A, apples to oranges. We are pulling a 28-ft Lance 2375 with a Ram 1500 with a flip-style truck bed cover, and using the bed of the truck for camping gear when we travel. We're not full time, nor do I think we'd attempt full time in our current trailer, but we are planning a few longer trips. I do believe, though, if our "someday" comes and we go full time, it'll be in a Class A with a toad. Great job on this video, and thanks for sharing your experiences at the end. Good luck!

      Thank you! The Class A is nice to have but even from one Class A to another, there can be big differences between them all.

      @@LivinRVision Agreed. We will spend time with candidate rigs pretending to use everything - assessing storage, ease of use, practicality, etc. Really digging what I see of the new Winnebago Journey - but, yeah, Winnebago. Hmmm.

    Y'all making great progress. I have often wondered who does the cooking or you both do. Liking the upgrades to the truck and a slider tray would be awesome. Are there solar panels on the roof and if not, will that be an up coming video? Keep on streaming

      Thanks, Loda! I usually do the cooking but Michelle is a better cook IMO. I have always cooked since I was a kid, grew up with my Dad and alone a lot so had to learn. I love to cook and Michelle always says she will gladly let me. 😂
      No solar as of yet but hope to sometime soon.

    What happened with the Alde heater? Just in case if happens to us :-) We also modified our Rock Tamers because they start to crack at the top where they attach. We added a piece of thin diamond plate so they don't flex as much. If you want we can figure out how to share a picture.

      We would be interested in seeing a pic of what you did with the rock tamers. You can send it to our LivinRVision Facebook page messenger.
      We’re still working on the issue with the Alde heater. Thinking it might need a new board.

    How do you get mail? And amazon packages?

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Two ways. Mail service through Americas Mailbox or similar companies that you get your domicile from as well and also mailed directly at the RV campgrounds we are at. Pretty much any campground or RV resort. Now a state or National Park is a different story. No issues getting our mail.

    Have y’all thought about adding taller legs on the desk chair?

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We haven’t thought about that Angela. It has rollers so we wouldn’t want to lose those. It was much easier to order an underdesk keyboard tray and then we wouldn’t have to modify the chair. Seems to be working out! 😁🤓

    Suggest u get a set (2) cheap hand held “walkee talkers” for communication when ur backing into parking/camp sites - communication from spotter to driver is paramount!!

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Appreciate you trying to help. Our phones seem to be working fine, which is what we were using to n the video. Michelle uses her ear buds so and sticks her phone in her pocket. A lot of people use walk-in talkies though and a lot have switched back to their phones. I think it’s a preference. Always remember, Going slow is Pro. Plus it gives you time during a delay in the phones. All else fails...GOAL (Get Out And Look) 👍🏻😊🤓

      Second the Walkie Talkies. We also have some lanterns we place for backing in when it’s dark (can’t always make it to the campsite before dark in the winter). Cell phone service can be spotty in remote areas.

    We were amazed on how much stuff we could pack into the Airstream. Way more storage than you think. Once you have it fully packed, fill the water tank and head for a CAT scale. Don’t want to overload her.

    • @LivinRVision
      @LivinRVision  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s a lot more room then you would think. Getting to a CAT scale is on our list, but you really need to weigh each tire to be more accurate. You’re right, you want to fill the fresh water also before weighing so that you know your absolute max weight. 👍🏻😊🤓
