I miss the days when every manufacturer had a sports car.
Sadly though everything has changed. People like me rather like 90s sportscar than modern cars. Sometimes modern cars looks good, but I'm not gonna complain about it.

A 1967-70 2000GT...! Very rare and exotic. There are very few decent road tests of a 2000GT. What a great collection of red Toyotas Mat has been lucky enough to meet and been allowed to drive - the hand-built 2000GT is just special!

Thanks for discounting the BMW M4 hardtop coupé. My favorite is the GT86. It's modern, modifiable, great fun, doesn't cost the earth, and I've had 2 of them.

@@basshead. an old one with worn out poorly maintained suspension and wheel components, yes that does handle like crap. They performed amazingly right off the lot compared to other sports cars of its day.
Now building them into true racecars and they hold competitive against the heavy hitters like time attack evos and 240s

BMW is recalling the Toyota Supra for seat belt guide loops with improper welds. Too bad back in the '60's or even today; Toyota/Yamaha wouldn't mass produce the 2000 GT like the Datsun Z.
The difference is that yamaha didnt have a supra replica on sale with that engine at the same time and they didnt create the chassis just the engine

Car Wow sense: Not putting the Supra because its a Bmw, but putting a Gt86 when its a Subaru.
german still different to asian manufacturers
GT86 had lots of Toyota involvement with the chassis, gearbox etc. It was a joint project with Subaru. The Supra on the otherhand is a BMW Z4 with different body work.

I am really much neutral but Toyota had their part on developing the engine itself, they made sure that bmw made an engine that fits to their reliability grade, so that also means that bmw z4 also has greater reliability than other bmw sports cars.
Subaru is Japanese so maybe that's the point of adding gt86

I was confused between voting for the 2000gt or the mk4 but finally I voted for the 2000gt because it had a lovely voice and was perfect back when it came and had a classic shape filled with honor and greatness
But based on this videos logik, you would have to vote for the mk4, because the 2000gt isnt a toyota, its a yamaha.
The GT86 is massively underrated, bang on what it was designed for. For me however, I'm going for the AE86.
The Hyundai Genesis is better in my opinion and is even far more underrated! :)
@@santa_pepsi I think the one knock I have against the Gen Coupe is the styling (for both generations). It resembles the other cars within Hyundai's lineup, which keeps it from being it's own pure and unique design. Cars like the GT86 and Miata are more pure in this sense.

My vote is for the ST185 Celica. Owned an AE86 and while it's good as what it is and I understand the deep roots with drifting, at the end of the day I'm more of a rally fan. That's why I have the ST185's older brother. With some tweaks(especially in the suspension) it's an amazing car to drive.

I choosed GT86 because I like how it's modern, but still remaining light weight, with reasonable amount of power, rear wheel drive and manual shifter.
To me a 86 is like if you were to build a old car new the interior isn't too fancy but you do still have some modern touches such as heated seats and gps therefore it takes the cake imo

J B this is my opinion and I don’t mean to offend anyone which is hard in today’s society but I thinks the R8 has the best sounding V10 due to its loud, hollow sounds, I don’t rlly like high pitched screeches as much but the Lfa still sounds very sexy

Great car to cruise around like an old lady in or put your foot down and rev it to hell and back. @@darknedfren actually its not better its just that the st205 was disqualified from rally championship because of the restrictor plate cheat so they didnt win alot of rally stages because of the ban
It would be awesome if you could do a Toyota GT86 drag race, between the stock manual and automatic, plus a modified manual and automatic in the same race! I have an auto GT86 which has been given an NA tune by Fensport, uprated brakes, differential, suspension and more. It does the 0-62 sprint in under 7 seconds! Now they've stopped production after 9 years, it'll be a great send off for the fantastic little sports car to see a drag race between the different variants of the GT86!
I wonder where the Yaris GR would've placed if the test was done now, (and when the new GR-86 comes out)

Love your show classy and cool. Only one thing wrong with this particular video is your missing the rally icon Toyota Celica GT4 st205 Twin entry turbo. Japanese spec car, in my opinion the greatest Toyota sports coupe. 4x4 with around 270bhp true bhp out performs all standard Toyota sports cars including the supra. Would love to see this car reviewed as it's the ultimate gt4

I used to own a Supra mk 4 (non turbo Japanese import), it wasn't as fast as the turbo (obviously) but it looked the same and mine had been modified a fair bit but as it was an import I couldn't tell exactly what had been done to it and it was never available as a UK car. It made a hell of a lot of noise having some enormous Blitz exhaust on it, it was a bit of a nightmare in the wet as the back stepped out if you put your foot down and it was lethal in the snow but I loved driving it. I would have liked a Celica GT-Four ST205 too though, the last model, it looked better without the popup headlights and with a massive Supra style spoiler on the back.
