I’m a POC and developed melasma 4yrs ago from my pregnancy 😢 I’ve been using this product for 6 months now. I had very dark untreated melasma and today my face looks amazing! You can see a bit of the pigmentation but it has improved by 70%! I use it 3 times a day; and it’s gentle on my skin. I can’t wait to see what my skin looks like after a year❤❤❤
Do you use it all over or only on your dark areas? I have dark marks from ingrown hair and a natural darker contour area. Would I apply it all over my face or only on those areas? I don’t wanna be blotchy lol
@@Denise_Cocoa I have a similar complexion to what you described; initially I was applying all over the face but then my complexion was getting lighter. I am now applying directly on the dark marks and avoid using all over. I don’t want to loose my complexion only the dark marks/melasma. It really worked for me. I hope it gives you food results like me. Also, patience and consistency is what made a difference. God bless 🫶🏽
It's so strange how I have just started thinking about my dark spots (hyperpigmentation) I'm light brown skin black American male, and this video showed up today. I've bookmarked another TH-camr who compared different over the counter name brand dark spot reducers. Hydroquinone years ago irritated my skin, so tried different things on the market. I have some skin hyperpigmentation on my face, and back and some scratches that turned dark on front lower legs, but the spots mainly came from me having chicken pox when I was around 17/18 years old. I will definitely try Eucerine's product with Thiamidol.
I can never get over her beauty, gentle/ kind/ confident demeanor, and her ability to communicate her knowledge in a clear way that is respectful to all people with different knowledge and backgrounds. I love learning from her. Thankful that she shares. ❤
I use this product. This Eucerin thing. It can cause acne. And I’m not a person with acne prone skin. Not moisturising. Stops working after two weeks. Take a rest then use it again, it starts working. It actually works but you have to pause using it and come back to it. I won’t repurchase.

Thank you for making this video. I love your videos and information. I’ve been using the dual serum for (2?) years with amazing results. I got my friend on it and we both find it to be better than hydroquinone for melasma. The thiamidol creams that Eucerin makes are not as effective as the dual serum though. The one in the pink/orange bottle with the silver cap (not the one in the white bottle) The only annoying thing is that I can only find it in European online shops, so I buy 2-3 at a time and they ship it to me in the US. I usually try to avoid fragrance, but Eucerin products never irritate my skin and this one is no exception. I hate the smell though, but it doesn’t linger.
Yes, i contacted Eucerin directly today & was told it is not sold in US. Also, you mentioned that you have been using for 2 years. Did it take that long to see results
Now this ingredient is in Nivea too, in the 360 line wich has two sunscreen 50+ and one 20 spf too. They have cream, serum, face sunscreen, body cream and body oil with this ingredient. Nivea belongs to the same owners of Eucerin.

So, I believe I have information overload from looking at so many of your videos at one time. My question is, do you ever suggest one brand for everything (cleansing, toner, exfoliation, moisture, sunscreen, etc? Since the season has changed, I am starting to deal with eczema again on top of hyperpigmentation and my skin is sensitive. So, I am trying to put together a regular routine for my facial and neck.
I’m so glad I just came across your page!! Instant subscribe, and thank you for repoing the melaNATIONA! Question, how would you incorporate this into my skincare routine. AM? PM? After cleans, may I layer this with other active ingredients ?
Unfortunately, it's not working at all on my melasma. I used it for half a year with no visible change in my pigmentation. It's so frustrating to hear it is supposed to help 90% of people 😥. In my daily routine I use SPF50+, vit C, azelaic acid, niacinamid and retinal and that's why my melasma is not very dark but still it's clearly visible without makeup. Adding Thiamidol did nothing. Maybe it is working if somebody was doing nothing before for the pigmentation or maybe I'm just a part of these 10%.
That can be so frustrating. I'm a light brown skin make, and have to spots, hyperpigmentation on face, sides of back and scratches that turned dark on front lower legs. I do apricot scrubbing twice a week, cleansing, and toner and tried other products, But nothing. I will try Eucerine's product and hope it works. There's another TH-camr, guy, who compared different products for hyperpigmentation and I have been thinking of watching it again and maybe purchasing one of the products. I've seen Eucerine around stores for years, so I'll try their product which has the patent on Thiamidol right now I think The Dr. had said. 😊
That’s so unfortunate. 😕 Do you think that the product will work if you adjust your daily routine? It may be that they are counterproductive as I read that you use niacinamide and retinol. Just a thought. 😊

I'm dubious that all of these new innovative ingredients are supposedly as effective as Hydroquinone like the medical estaishment and cosmeceutical industry would have us believe, none of these active ingredients produce any visible results. It feels like I'm being gaslit by these medfluencers. The only other Hydroquinone alternatives that visibly work IMO are alpha arbutin and kojic acid but they take months to fade the PIH. Thanks Dr. Alexis! You always provide such great info and its so appreciated! Where can we buy this line of products. I checked all the major retailors and couldnt find it. Only saw it on amazon and Im alwyas skeptical of beauty products being sold by 3rd parties on Amazon. Thank you!
Thank you, Dr Stephens! I would love to know if Thiamidol works better than Cyspera as I've been willing to try it. Of course, Thiamidol is much cheaper so that's a great incentive. However, it would be nice to know which one is more effective. 😊
This is just what I needed today! I got a brown spot from a very minor burn from trying to use a hot comb for the first time in 20 years, and now will need to fade that. Crazy how a second of inattention can cost weeks/months of repair, but here we are. Just ordered. I only need it for a spot, so I doubt the fragrance will be a big deal.
Update: I ordered this the day this video came out 2 weeks ago and have been using it on spots along my hairline that are always dark and thick skinned from sun damage from many years of walking the dog with a visor that didn't cover that area properly. I can already see that area greatly improved. In contrast, I've use alpha arbutrim, niacinamide and transdemic acid (sp?) on my entire face including that area for about a year with no real change to the hairline area.
Righto ordering another bottle - I did notice a difference. II tried a mutil pronged approach - Timeless Vit CE Ferulic, popped that on let it absorb into my skin. Followed by the Eucerin, yip it is a strong fragrance , but one pump covers a large area, I let that dry down then whacked on Bondi Sands SPF 50 . At night i double cleansed, applied The Ordinary Copper peptides, let that dry down, then my tretinoin .025%, once that was absorbed applied a 20% azelaic acid product - we are lucky here in NZ that it is available OTC and for like $21 NZD, then a fragrance free moisturiser. It's been a hella hot summer here in New Zealand and I can't avoid the sun , so i was skeptical - however incorporating this into my routine has definitely made a difference. I got used to the fragrance. Hopefully a non fragranced version will be out soon
We have this Thiamidol in most drug stores here in South Africa. It's over the counter, there's 3 kinds. A serum and 2 others. All 3 are spot removers. I don't know the strength of each one of them. From this forum I've been reading that the serum is more effective, i wouldn't know for a fact. For one thing its pricey. Sometimes i feel manufacturers want you to buy up to 10 of their product before you see improvement.
@@jusTOOfresh i think it's made a difference.I use it in the mornings with a vitamn c and sunscreen. At night Im using tretinoin and azelaic acid - multi pronged approach because melasma is such a dick. Honestly I think it made a difference adding it to the routine i already had in place. But Doc is right - it is such a powerful fragrance that it'd be off putting for some. It does settle down and by the time you slather sunscreen on it's gone. I did take a shot when I first started but i reckon you need proper lighting to see differences in a pic, But yeah I'm glad I bought it. Ill report back when Ive used the whole bottle
Hello! I love your content and only watch you for skin reccs now! I followed your good molecules video and was using the toner and brightening serum for hyperpigmentation, along with a retinol. I am on my 3rd month of differin and going through it with the purging despite starting slow (wish I watched your video before starting)! Anyways, I am really interested in this product and was wondering how you would work it into a routine with retinol? Is this something I could use in the morning and keep my retinol at night? Any recommendations on a regimen with this product?! Thanks again for your informative videos!
UGH!!! Why do they put Fragrance in skincare products, especially products that folks suffering with hyperpigmentation would try to use. Don't they care that Fragrance can cause irritation, and also leas to hyperpigmentation??? I'll wait. Eucerin should know better.
They have a corecctornstick cause im allergic to fragrance(even in deodorant) im very sensitive and this works. Expensive but the only thing that heals it within days
Noticed after i took my covid mask off that i now have a brown mustache and two brown spots..had a dermatology appt for other reasons and he said fade creams dont work and my best bet is laser or microdermabrasion which i cant afford on a low end fixed income..i wont be going back to that office, for various reasons but i knew in my heart there has to be some kind of safe topical fade creams, ointments, medicines, etc..i have a couple other brown spots..one only showed up when i was pregnant..im 63 now so im calling em age spots but they def give me body/facial issues..
I have hyperpigmentation around my mouth and eyes. I just take a Vitamin E liquid gel and break it open. I apply it to my affected areas just before going to bed. In 2 to 3 weeks you will see dramatic improvenent!improvement!! Trust me!!!
As always thank you Dr. Stephens for the awesome info. So happy I found your channel. You have helped transform my skin! My derm is always surprised how well informed I am. I told her about your channel 😂
Good information. Would products with this ingredient help with hyperpigmentation caused by sun exposure while taking antibiotics? Thank you for what you do.
What do I do about my chin being darker than the entire rest of my body, including my upper face and chest? it's not like a dark "spot" it's my whole chin and I am not sure why. Maybe I used to always lean on my chin or something. It is very noticeable in pictures with no makeup. I think shadowing also makes it worse because my chin is recessed, not jutting out, so the shadow from my full lower lip and the rest of my face makes it look even darker than it actually is unless I intentionally poke my chin out.
Same issue too. I have started using hydraulic acid and alpha arbutin by the ordinary and have seen some progress. The progress is slow though. Started seeing changes after 2 months of consistent use. Will continue till my skin is even. Additionally, been trying to keep my hands away from my chin.
@@AutumnSwatches Still slightly darker but one has to be very observant to notice the difference. Keeping my hands away from my face and chin has also helped significantly. I also had darker skin on my lower eyelids near my nose because I kept touching the area and this is where it is almost gone entirely. By the way, I stopped using the products above about 3 months ago because I was having eye problems. I am currently only using Nivea and taking vitamins high in vitamin A.
@@lynnhams7723 thank you so much for the update and that’s a really good point about touching. I suspected that’s how my chin got darker cause I used to always lean on my chin.

Dr Alexis I know you never reply but I thought I’d ask anyway. We all know that hydroquinone can cause rebound hyperpigmentation when you stop it. Something to do with melanocytes being angered. Don’t know. Since Thiamidol is an alternative to hydroquinone, can this also create rebound pigmentation. Would be helpful to not just me but others too if you could provide a response. Thank you.

Hello Dr. Stephens, Can you send the link as to where to purchase the Eucerin ant-pigment dual serum
Thanks for the info. Should you still use ingredients with niacinamide with this?
Eucerine created and has the patent on thiamidol, which is why you could not find it anywhere else.
Sometimes i feel manufacturers want you to buy up to 10 of their product before you see improvement.
i bought this because of this vid. Im taking before and after 12weeks shots see how i go
Any updates?
Thanks Dr. Stephens❤
Dr Stephens, what is the best collagen for women over 50
I'm gonna have to find and invest in this product.
Could you do a video on Resorcinol? And the products.
Would a chemical peel help or recommended? Hello doc l am new here. Thanks for the information.
Hi Dr Alexis, how would you recommend incorporate this product in my routine (PM, AM or both).
I have hyperpigmentation around my mouth and eyes. I just take a Vitamin E liquid gel and break it open. I apply it to my affected areas just before going to bed. In 2 to 3 weeks you will see dramatic improvenent!improvement!! Trust me!!!
I first discovered this ingredient when i started using the Be Minimalist 2% alpha arbutin and butyl resocinol
I wish she had a practice in Orlando, FL.
Hiiii I love your videos! would love to see you review the brand Eadem (:
@@lynnhams7723 Thanks for responding. How's it going now?
@lynnhams7723 why are you having eye problems? Ehat tupe of eyes problems & is it. Because of what type of cream your using?
Hi Dr. Do you address fading discoloration on other parts of the body - Legs and top of feet? Would a chemical peel help in these areas or cream?
She has a video on this already.
Thanks. I'll look further.
Dr Alexis thank you for sharing
I live in Miami. I would Love to make an appointment.
Your visit would definitely be with it. She is amazing!!!
Thanks Dr.! Can we use it with tretinoin at the same time?
Do you have a video about hypopigmentation? White spots forming in waxed areas
Thank you so much for this new information
Can you talk about topical estrogen for perimenopausal women with melasma?
Dr Alexis please can I use adaplene in the evening and azealic acid in the morning…
Yes. This is a great duo.
Was just about to start using Kojic acid then came across this.
Over 60k views but not even 35 likes? How???
EDIT YOUR PLAYLIST! 😅 I think your children have added several Disney singing videos to your skincare basics Playlist. I was very confused, but remembered you have little ones. ❤
This sounds promising. I have acne prone skin and use Benzoyl Peroxide. Is this a product I can use in the same routine with that? And does it cause any purging effects?
I have finished 4 bottles and they did nothing for my melasma. I have heard others say the same. Not sure why some dermatologists recommend it.
There are so many different ones on your page you share please share the one that’s best and guaranteed to work I use to use ambi cream before they changed the ingredients now I don’t know what to use!!! 😢
Im going to try this on my uv damaged hands.
Great option!
Nivea 630 has a hand cream in the line with this active ingredient in it.
@@DrAlexisStephensHI Dr Stephens, Please can you do your next deep dive on 'ECTOIN' as I've found it so healing and anti inflammatory after using the Nivea 630 POST ACNE MARKS SERUM (it has RESORCINALin it as well as
SALICYLIC ACID
ALCOHOL DENAT ( 😢)
SODIUM HYALURONATE
GREEN TEA
PANTHENOL
ISOQUERCITRIN
LICORICE ROOT
and it is Potent!! Can dry the skin but worked brilliantly, so just using occasionally as it seems like this should be on prescription ( it worked that fast😮) I'm just using Boots derm cream with Ectoin and Inkey list sunscreen and they have removed the dryness.
I love yr Videos🎉
@@sandraellison6570we don’t have Nivea 630 in the us. Why is it called 630
Dr Stephens can you thiamdol with retinol ? please please talk about clindamycin phosphate ? Also can you review Dr Dennis gross alpha beta peel please
I’ve been using it for about 8 months. I use it with tretinoin at night, but each skin is different.
I also use it with my salicylic acid toner on the nights I exfoliate.
@@lidiagmv1980 you have been using thiamdol with retinol ?
I use topical clindy solution for hs
Exciting! Can it be used with retinol? Vitamin c?
Yes you can! I would introduce it by itself first to check for sensitivity to the ingredient.
Great question!!!
Uhhhh why would they put fragrance in it. Fragrance should be banned in skin care because whyyyy 😫
Hello, thank you for this! This may be different but is there anything thst helps bring back color to white stretch marks? There are so many black women who suffer from lighter color stretch marks that stand out against our skin tone compared to non black people. Especially when we tan.
Dr Alexis
I know you never reply but I thought I’d ask anyway.
Thank you.
Hi, Dr. Alexis. Thank you for the info! Is it safe to use this under your eyes (for dark circles)?
Your skin is just lovely, btw. 😍😍😍
Right? I just kept staring at her skin the entire video, thinking about how beautiful it is!
Do I need to live in Florida to book an appointment? I live in Toronto but I would love to get a consultation from you
I was excited to try this product having watched your review. Then I stumbled across another video where somebody says she used it for 3 months and her skin looked good BUT when she stopped using this product her hyperpigmentation came back darker than before. Now I am worried about using it. Please advise if that’s is what could happen if you stop using Thiamidol.
Please Answer 🙏🙏🙏
Can i use a salicylic acid toner (like Paula's choice 2% bha) after an oil cleanser?
Hi doctor, can you please review the « Caudalie » serum for dark spot.
Is there a plant besides aloe vera that you can use for hyperpigmentation looking for more of a natural route
Very helpful video.
