Everything about the scorpius makes more sense when you consider it's entire purpose is to be carrier based. That's why you would want one two seater vs two single seaters: you can have twice as many (approximately, given the size) double seat ships in the same carrier space. Low health and range are less an issue when they are part of a groupfight, and can dock for repairs after each engagement. Small components easily accessible for repair crew makes sense since you can store more spare parts on the carrier (assuming the scu size difference is actually significant). I'm hoping that soft death is generous to these ships, as recovering them to the carrier and replacing parts to fix it up would be a very satisfying gameplay loop. Sseriously if carrier gameplay turns out well, these are going to be very popular.
Beauty in design is an important factor in my buying decision, since performance balance is far from finalized. The Scorpius is one of the best-looking ships in SC imo, so it'll find a place in my hangar.
I tend to not focus too much on patch specific performance for that very reason. The best advice we can give someone is to buy a ship (in or out of game) for its intended role and now how it behaves in a given patch. Cheers!
As someone like you, who was caught right in the feels with this design, I bought it. I love it and feel as if it handles better than the Hurricane. I have both. THa being said, the Scorpius should not be able to fire with wingtip cannons when wings are folded. there should also be a third wing config, like the X-Wing when not in attack position.
I just got the best in show version because of how awesome the paint job looks today, and took it out in pirate swarm to test it out, I got the farthest I've ever gotten in that mode while flying it, so far it's probably my favorite ship to fly, I can't wait for when I get the time to take it into the pu, and do some bounties with a buddy in the copilot's seat, there were so many ships I wanted to get during the ship expo, but I'm really happy I waited until the Scorpius went on sale
You can get it for sure! I finally got pirate swarm complete last week using gimballed fl-22s in my newly acquired scorpius. It's such a great ship to fly and I cant wait to mess around with ballistics when the change in the shield pen goes live.
Despite the Scorpios literally having x shaped wings, I personally think the Buccaneer is much more reminiscent of the original X-Wing. Similar shape canopy, cone shaped fuselage with the giant twin turbine engines with the wings just ring right off the engines.
I haven’t had the chance to fly yet, probably wait for it to go live. It looks cool and the cockpit is beautiful. Still on the fence for the purchase. Awesome vidi brother ✌️
Great footage and some interesting points. Disappointed CIG introduced another fighter in an "over tuned" state. Guess we'll see what its actually like awhile after its sale.
My opinion, CIG will not slave the turrets of any fighter. Or if they do they’ll add the turrets weapons to the capacitor pool of the pilot to severely restrict firing time. I’m ok with that personally.
We'll have to see what they do. They're on record in multiple spots about blades locking turrets forward and being controlled by AI. As with all things though, we should believe it when we see it in the 'verse! Cheers, Andy!
i wanna melt my ION for one of these beauty's but my gut says hold out till next massive balance patch because the star fighter series of ships will get some love again..still my brain says get the X-wing tho
it looks soo cool but the small ships are the ones that you well be able to get in game easier I would say that better to employ a NPC to fire the turrets than give 8 size 3's to the pilot as everyone would be in one otherwise........ Still may get one though :D
Love this thing, but is there really a difference between X wing config and retracted config? Because I am tempted to do combat with retracted for the smaller profile.
Per the Q&A it's not supposed to be able to fire weapons when retracted but it currently does. Not sure if they'll fix it or leave it this way.. so far most people I see fly it retracted for the smaller profile but still able to fire weapons.
don't know if it's going to fit in a polaris..... but just as I thought that this video will be another goodie goodie video just on the ship itself, you had to go crash into the ground at the end of all good things..... NICE touch~~

Futuristic X-Wing. But 200 dollars for a ship in a game? That's WAY TOO MUCH! The full game should cost 60. What's is wrong with those devs???? And WHY do people buy the ships?
The full game is 45$. Ships for real money is for supporting the crowd funding aspect if you choose to do that. Just "buy" ships in the game with in-game currency
i think the idea of multi crew ships being more powerful than single crew ships should be a given. a single manned ship or a couple of single manned ships should have a hard time with a multi crew ship cuz thats just how it should be otherwise no one would want to multi crew. whats the point of these big ass ships if a handful of small fighters can take it out super easily?
Yup. It just hasn't been the case for as long as I can remember. Multi-crew turrets were a joke until only recently. I also expect we'll see large subcaps and capitals be really tanky and with a lot of teeth be really scary to approach without a plan. It's the way it should be!

Tough call, but the ION is in game now, so you could just pick it up with aUEC too!

Can the back seat crew member operate the missiles like in modern jet fighters?
Only the pilot has access ot missile operator mode currently. Not sure if that would ever change or not.

Currently yes but it's not intended per the q&a so I expect it to get fixed at some point
