I'd assume they mean it is based on another IPS-Type technology, not LG's IPS. For example, AUO calls their IPS-Type panels AHVA, confusingly.
I don't think they can call it an IPS Display unless it is based on an LG panel due to copyright and advertising laws, as it is a technology owned by LG and not a generic term for that display type. You'll find most 'IPS-Type' panels are not actually IPS from LG, but something equivalent from other manufacturers.

@@israellewis5484 4k on anything under a 36" screen is a waste one could argue anything over 1440p is a waste as the human eye doesn't have the number of cones and rods to actually perceive 4k anyways. They operate differently I know but as far as points of visual input our eyes have around about the number of pixels in 1080p. 4k is clearer for sure and 8K even more so but it's only really relevant on displays larger than anyone normally uses anyways. It's really only good for clarity at zoom for digital art or animations etc for normal media consumption anything above 1440p as far as clarity and sharpness on a normal sized PC screen is 100% placebo the human eye literally can't really see a difference. People bragging about their phone having a 4k display and I'm over here like okay that's cool but you can't even see the individual pixels on a 1080p screen that size, how is having 4x as many benefiting anything.

G14, This is exactly what I’m looking for personally. 13-14”, good processor for video editing in the go, that looks high quality, and not bulky. Price will determine if this is my. Ext purchase. They excluded thunderbolt three and that’s a big deal on laptops. Since they excluded this feature that limits the longevity of a laptop side you can’t add a external gpu. So price will have to be lower here. If this laptop has a decent price, the processor is solid, build quality is solid, and battery life is good, I’ll purchase as soon as I can.

Unlikely but still the performance jump from Zen+ to Zen2 is so significant that I would go with the new one. The 2000 series (Zen) VS 3000 series (Zen+) on mobile only has a 3% IPC gain and maybe a slight clock bump. Ryzen mobile 4000 series (Zen2) has double the cores and a big IPC gain so a 4000 series R3 has about the same performance as a 3000 series R7. The GPU's are nearly identical though.

Looking at specs I was not this interested in the portable platform like ever. Around 2ghz base with 4 core being the minimum. That is exciting. And the 4 core has higher base clock... Also can't wait to see what a 45W 8/16 part can do.

Interested to know if you can get away with 1080p low gaming on the R7 IGPU. Having more cores might eat up som of the thermal headroom. Would love to hear more from AMD on how they will balance the CPU vs GPU on the 8/16 version vs 6/12.

@@KeppyKep True, this won't be out for a while. I've just been disappointed with my 3500u system. The stability isn't at a point I'm happy with. The clocks are disappointing as well (1.6ghz) under heavy loads really wish I spent a little more for an intel 6 core/ 4 core with dGPU. It's just that this is going to be such a huge upgrade in performance/watt when it does come out, today is possibly the worst time to buy a new laptop, at least for someone like me that likes to keep their old systems in service for as long as possible.

I can't wait to see what these devices are capable of with future gaming orientated mobile devices like the GPD Win 2, I imagine we could see a two or three hundred percent increase in 3D game performance! Presumably devices not aimed at gaming will be throttled by various things to achieve battery or heat goals and not be very good for gaming just like Intel HD devices.
