The Coyote Trap Is Set & Then This Happened

- Today we set up a couple different traps. We got the live trap set for the coyote and then the girls went and set a crawdad trap over on the creek to try to catch some creek creatures. Abandoned homestead is coming along nicely and we are getting close to having it ready for the up and coming deer season.

A good bait for crawdads is a can of dog food. Drive a nail into the top of the can then remove the nail, leaving a little hole in the can. Set it in the trap and put it in the water. That can will last a good long while. That sardine can wont last very long because the opening is too big and will leak out very quickly. Anyway, happy hunting!
A wounded rabbit call will bring him in, but to go in the trap, unlikely. Love ya'll ❤

It is such a joy to watch the girls doing different things on the property. My favorite today was Hope and Hadley in the creek with the crawdad trap. I would love to see more of the girls doing things together on the videos. Hopie is a bright light for sure to the channel. Keep doing what you are doing.
Getting Hope to hold still while trying to call in coyote could be a true magical trick I took my daughter hunting with me many years ago and asked her to be still and quiet then a couple does walked in and she started waving her arms and hollered out Dad here they come and you know there they went

Dutch I think you scared that big squirrel just as much as you did the girls!!! Hahaha
One of the things that my Dad taught me at a very young age(I was probably 3 or 4 years old. I’m 64 now) that anytime we were hunting we had to stay very still (hard not to wiggle when you are young and excited) and very quiet. I soon learned, the hard way, that being busy or loud would generally mean an unsuccessful hunt. It’s a difficult thing for bright, beautiful and very excited kiddos to learn. You should be so proud of those girls!!!!! In the years I’ve been watching your channel they have grown and matured into amazing young ladies! Y’all have a blessed day!
Not wearing gloves are you leaving juman scent on everything you touch setting thins up? I don’t know anything about trapping but I would think the animal would smell human and run. Good luck! Would love to see something large in the trap. The girls will be so excited !! 😊🙏🏼

Jimmy Houston has every deer around his property tamed it seems! Its so cute to watch them come up on his porch to eat, he hand feeds them and has them all named! Try using some apple cider vinegar to spray your legs and keep the ticks off you. It works for fleas too.

I think its great that you spend a lot of quality time with your daughters. My Daddy taught me to drive and to shoot long guns and hand guns. He died when I was a teenager. I'm 65 and still miss him every day.

My suggestion would be to have a trapper come and try to remove the core populations of coyotes. It hard to get a coyote to enter a live trap.
I never have caught poison ivy. I spend all of my young life in the woods and around a creek.

I think you need barrels/trash cans in the old bus for your corn, etc. - looks like you have mice or rats nibbling at the sack.
Miracle that fawn is alive,without mama it didnt get the suck it needed.. not to mention the coyotes

Tea strainer for heating tea, Are great for holding bait Saves bait and Shum scent released. Catch clean and cook.

Don't get the coyote too close to your deer hunting area. You don't want them to get them before you had a chance.

I dont know if your aware but the doe will not stay with the fawn. This is to keep scent down to protect from predators. She will come to feed and leave.

Hi Dutch,,, I’m glad you said that about Animals when they get sick they always go to water. I was told that from my Pap Since I was a little girl. I told someone that and they looked at me like I was crazy. LOL
Coyotes are smart and can scent you. Though it would be nice to have the fawn trust and get used to you, it would be a shame for her to lose her survival instincts because she will think humans are all nice especially with deer season just a couple of months away.
Deer like sweet horse feed. That little fawn would probably like some. They love carrots too. Just saying. Corn doesn’t have no health benefits for deer.
coyotes eat a lot of mice too. You should’ve put that rat in there for bait.
First you have to deal with the coyotes
