I'm so gassed for this map, I hope I rate it more than Westcountry cos as long as I enjoy that map it's a bit repetitive. Definitely looking forward to something new. But Westcountry3 will always be one of my favourite maps
YC3 is beautifully executed (ie. it looks nice) but is totally unconvincing from a design perspective. Silly place names, silly gimmicks (like the lost child, and the FATAL accident). I tried to get a refund but was 10 mins over the Steam 2hr window. Only good thing is the Veiling, but it's not worth £20.99
Most of this map appears to be based off Birmingham, the beginning is definitely Colmore Row and the The Mall by the bull ring... the hospital seems to be based of QE hospital and Birmingham University, the final terminus also gives Harbourne Vibes.
Is Arkala ever going to be released for mere mortals to use? Or just for the closed club and TH-camy people? That sounds more salty than intended 😄 but you've been streaming it for over a year. Long development time for a freeware map that doesn't require modelling against real world locations and objects.
Agree. It seems to exist only as some sort of map purely for a few OMSI youtubers to do videos on. Eamonn85 has just started featuring it now, so he's clearly in the 'club' too. To be honest it doesn't interest me. I find fictional payware maps just lazy. When you think of all the work that Reece did for Addon London - 1000s of hours of research, custom model building etc. Then you get fictional payware maps like Yorkshire Counties and this one, where someone's just made up a road network, created generic models and applied a bunch of silly place names. Freeware, yes, I get it, but Yorkshire Counties charging £21 for a freeware map that is totally unconvincing as a real place, with names like "Lake District" as areas of the map. Payware developers should put some commitment in and create the next (payware level) Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, London Route 24, etc.
@@DavidR_192 - Spot on. Payware maps should be centred around real locations. If someone like Mr Moose can put in all the work to create a freeware real world map like Scunthorpe, the creators of YC3.0 and this map should do the same - if they want to charge £20+ for it.
@@droge192 - just watched the section of this where Joe says it looks like York - and it sooo does! with the long sandstone wall.... and yet it's called "Arkala" (Cub scout leader?) and it's version of York has station names like "Michigan St Station" !!! Totally out of place.
hi joe, i have a quick question. i have downloaded westcountry 3 and i put it in the directory but its not in the game map choice is it ok if i can have a bit of help with this? Keep up the great work joe
I had to check to see if I had somehow turned on a slower speed for this one...I don't know if Joe has a medical condition or maybe he had partaken in a few shandies, but it seemed to me like he was slurring a little and it sounded like a drunk ramble. Might just be me.
