    Do you love your non-premium bible? Want to make it last? Do these two Easy Steps!
    1. Apply Neatsfoot Oil to the Bible a couple times a year; even though it is Bonded Leather, it is still leather, and helps when given the same care.
    2. Use a Needle Feed Glue Applicator to make repairs when the time comes, doing so will be preventative maintenance, and will keep weak points of these bibles strong.

    Iv had my Nelson bonded leather bible since 1993 and Iv always used mink oils for my leather bible and any other leather products.. it’s nice and cheap very easy to use and effective for all sorts of leather.. my bible looks great for being 30 years old.

    What a great vid. I would add a third practice. Always lay flat and stack Bibles and books. Putting them vertically in a library’s style on shelves stresses the spine and crushes the edges of the leather. This is true for hardbacks as well. Dust doesn’t settle on pages or gilding if they are laying flat either.

    Boy I wish Id have seen this video a few years ago. My old nkjv bonded leather Bible fell apart. Pages weren't coming out, it was breaking away from the cover as a block. I sadly said goodbye to it but it was well used and well loved for over 20 years.

    I've tried several products with various levels of success, so I have to admit I was a little sceptical at first, but now I am 100% convinced of Neatsfoot oil for bible leather. Really amazing. Thank you! p.s. Applied to a '72 Nelson (top grain buffalo), a Hendrickson 1611 (leather), and a Tolle Lege 1599 Geneva (bonded leather).

    Do you use that same oil on all your leather Bibles? If so, how often do you apply it to other more premium leathers?

      This was going to be my exact question. Thank you for asking 😊

      I do use the same oil for all my bibles. On premium leathers, I’d use it once a year or so, just depends.

      @@frostLeather awesome thanks! Do you wait till the leather is worn, or use it preventatively? Sorry for all the questions 😅😂 new to having premium Bibles

    Good review! Have you ever used a leather treatment with beeswax in it? I have Aussie Leather Conditioner with Beeswax. Just applied it on an older imitation leather bible. We will see how it works. I will subscribe to your TH-cam Channel. Thank you

    Any ideas on preserving imitation leather Bibles? I've had a few start crumbling within 4 or 5 years. The best are out of print, and crumbling so I thought maybe there is some kind of flexible matte/satin varnish I could put over the crumbling/flaking covers to hold that fake leather layer on the covers longer. (If I could find someone who can rebind Bibles in Japan I'd just do that. A bit costly to ship back and forth, and weak yen.).

      No hope for synthetic stuff, unfortunately.

    My neatsfoot bottle (Shep Pure) says to use good ventilation and don't get any on your hands. Does that sound right? Also, how long does it take to dry?

    • @custerranch
      @custerranch ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Does your Shep's label say "Neatslene" harness oil? If so, that's a petroleum product, and it's safety data sheet does say it's hazardous.
      But if your label says 100% pure neatsfoot oil, then that data sheet says it's not toxic.

    Do you repair a Bible if i don't think i can do it myself? I can send you a picture. It has a zipper around it that has broken. I appreciated your comments.

    • @frostLeather
      @frostLeather  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do sometimes, but a zippered bible repair would need to be looked at to see if the repairs are possible.

    I have had an NKJV bonded leather Bible for 18 years is it too late to start doing this even though mine is not cracking and it is not coming apart? I have used it a lot yet it does not look like I have used it much. Thank you for making a video like this.
