      I'm watching to do the same thing. I have an old KJV version I have owned since I was around 12 years old. I'm now 50, and it has been well-read. The cover came off a long time ago.
      This video, I believe I can redo it.

    Very Nice! I have a Open Bible from 1981 and the leather is damaged and it really could use a new cover. So my question to you is i f you still do this kind of work and if you are able to rebuild mine ?

    Love your rebind videos!
    I have just began my journey into rebinding as a hobby.
    1. The duct cloth used for spine reinforcement, is that book cloth in particular or some other product?
    2. How does one shop for the inside cover liner material, is it just a thinner piece compared to the exterior cover leather?

    • @agapebibles7704
      @agapebibles7704  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The "duck cloth" I purchased at Joannes Fabric, it is just a heavy cloth. Inside liner that I use is sheep skin. Very soft and pliable.

    I'm not sure if I should glue the spine to the leather cover. It might make it crimpy over time.

    How do you create that marbling effect? I have searched everywhere I could think of to find an instructional. Closest I've gotten is the shaving cream method but I still find that leaves empty spots. If you could please point me in the right direction as I am trying to make my own bible and one for my kids. Amazing work!

      I used veg tan goatskin and then wad it up into a ball to put crinkles in the hide. Then mix the dye 50/50 with rubbing alcohol. Then use my airbrush and spray it. I go over it as many times as needed to get the desired effect that I am looking for. You can always spray more for a darker color. Hope this helps.

      @@RyanGrandon My Bibles are not too floppy. I use 2 oz goatskin and 2-3 oz sheepskin. A leather jacket will normally have a 2oz leather. A leather jacket will normally have chrome tanned leather which is very floppy. My leather is veg tanned which is still very soft but has texture.
