    You are on the way to doing amazing things! I built E-bikes just for fun, and hope to make it a retirement addition, If I retire before I expire. I know what you're talking about with regard to the different wire colors and connectors. The biggest problems I've run into are always the Displays that the e-bike controllers use. They always fail. I finally went with analog displays and I use my Phone and an app for GPS Speedometer. You can take what you know and with a little imagination, make an e-bike that will take the world of e-bikes to an entirely new level. I've had people ask me about using an alternator to make an electric motor, so people are out there, that might have seen your video. It's all about design, Cool Factor, and Price. You're on to something. If you could take multiple alternators...(I believe that an alternator rotates at 3,000 rpm? ). A Hub Motor is 7,200 rpm. If you configure them into a really cool looking design... And add Capacitors...You could change the whole world of e-bike design and make e-bikes affordable for everyone. An Alternator already has a really cool design. . A DC Motor with no load is a Generator. If you add more than one..You can make a really cool design within the triangular section of the bike frame. Or you could just hide them in a case. I always tell people to keep the dream alive...Go back to Bed... Because that's where dreams become reality.

    Love ur videos. Very educational. I have a zodiac 12ft inflatable boat with a 15hp gas motor. Motor won't run, so I was thinking of getting a couple alternator and mount them inside the case at 48v with 2 contollers. Do u think there is a way to control speed of both motors at the same time with one throttle?

    Sir, thanks for sharing your knowledge with us.
    I also do this same convention a week ago.I had a 75amps alternator and I converted it into a motor, but I did it in delta connection.
    I had a 80amps rc ESC and it is not calibrated, its a new one. I connected it with 24v(series of 2 12volt batteries).and I used a servo tester for throttle.
    When I connected the batteries to ESC I didn't hear any beeps coming from motor.
    What is the problem. Can you please help me out to slove this.
    Shall I calibrete the ESC using another RC QUADCOPTER motor and then connect it with the alternator(motor). Because I think the coils in alternator are to heavy for ESC to produce those kind of audiable sounds.
    Please help me sir

    Thanks for the info. I am looking to drive a boat lift crank with a converted alternator using a small rubber wheel against a large (42") pipe wheel. The large pipe wheel turns a shaft that has a 16:1 reduction and requires about 20lbs of force to turn. I need some info of power consumption. I was planning to run it off a car battery that stays on trickle charge using a car battery charger. The area of this that is a mystery is how much sustained power can I generate with the motor, so I can select the correct sized drive wheel.

    Rookie question here, could you tell me the difference between using a brushed or brushless controller? Im getting into a Grandad/Grandson project, and bought a brushed controller because i i see brushes for the field coil. I think i have gotten myself a little confused lol. Grrat vids, keep them coming👌

  • @alalbatross6549

    Car alternators are made for dual use 12 and 24V. What the power is you measure off of collectors (where brushes to rotor are)

  • @trentcharles8272

    You can control the speed and torque of the motor by using a pwm to the field coil. Found 12v gives better torque but dropping down to around 5v greatly raises rpms.

    • @foxxyytofficial

      i can't remind now where i read, but i searched for "how to control the rotor current/voltage"
      and someone said that using pwm in the rotor can mess with the stator running with these pwm controllers

    May I have to connect it in star connection as you said in your video and the quadcopter motors are in star connection.
    Or I have to calibrate the ESC with another small RC AIRCRAFT motor and then connect it with the alternator motor.
    I get struck at this point because iam new to this ESC kind of things.
    Please help me .

    • @foxabilo
      @foxabilo 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not much, a few 10s of mA, the field winding only needs to be saturated for the motor to have full power, it is a self exited system after initial charge up as it alternates in polarity as the stater spins with respect to the brushes.

      JUST GO MAKE IT yeah, I used a cheapo Chinese buck boost regulator to dial in a few voltages and now I'm running mine from an 80amp 20volt ESC from ElectriFly. The BEC output of the ESC plugs right into the field windings. The higher your RPM the more you notice a difference, I was thinking of maybe putting a "wing" of some kind inside the casing by the internal fan that cooled the diodes and using that to control a pot in a 555 to automatically give smaller pulses to the field windings at higher RPM. I've been told I have overly ambitious ideas sometimes though so we'll see. 😋

    On older alternators the field winding was fed through a small bulb in the dash of the car. Once the alt was generating the lamp went off. If you fed it from the 48V main battery through a suitable resistor, that would save having the need for a separate 12V supply.

    • @avrsoundsystems4844
      @avrsoundsystems4844 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      An alternator has to get above 2100rpm before it comfortably powers the field coil. If this was powering a vehicle it would work on a steady long journey but not very efficient around town. Unless it was continually running then a clutch and gears would be needed.

    • @nlo114
      @nlo114 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      So thinking along those lines, would it be a viable idea to feed the field from a nominal 12V source via a car dash-board generator bulb? That would provide enough initial current to initiate the field before the self-generation effect countered the supplied current, then the bulb would then go out.

    Can you couple another alternator on the other side or onto same shaft so you get power back. I've seen this being done on another channel. They harness the extra power through metal dc capacitors before going back to power the motor again. This also acts like a buffer to work nicely to charge battery.

      alternator not hot?

    • @foxxyytofficial
      @foxxyytofficial 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      to connect hall sensors you need to modify the alternator, in the site EndlessSphere the user Widodo put hall sensors on the alternator

    Have you tried more voltage in the field coils?

    • @foxxyytofficial
      @foxxyytofficial 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      more voltage in the field coils can make the current go up, make the field to oversaturate and make it overheat, the best answer to this "detail" is to adjust the voltage in the field coils, to get in safe levels

      I dont now, its not possible send link in this channel.
      I think, You need this:
      Compatible Motors:
      Only those 8 wires(3 phase-cables & 5 hall-cables) DC brushless motor that can work with this controller,
      other brushless motors are not compatible.
      Installation:
      These controllers have 4 groups necessary cables(power cables, E-lock cables, Throttle-cables & Motor-phase cables),
      when hook up these 4 groups cables, the E-bike can run normally.
      Besides, these controllers have other optional functions, users can hook them up according to your applications.
      Package Included:
      1 X Brushless Motor Controller

    More details of the controller would be less misleading to people, must have sensorless function in the controller or it will not run.

    what horse power is

    • @foxxyytofficial
      @foxxyytofficial 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      this specific model probably wasnt tested, but people tested one Denso alternator and it got 3,2kW max power
      3200/735=4.35HP

    Youre 1500 watt contrler the most youre gonna get is roughly 1.5 horse 750 watt per horse power but with frition losses and power consumed in feild winding about 1.5 horsepower but electric .otors are bery tourky and accelarate very fzst

    Man..., you are complicating the shit out of it, and spending 20, perhaps, 30 times more than you should. Just convert your alternator to 3 phase, and use an IRF Z44, the most 3 of them, with a PWM with enough amps.

    • @foxxyytofficial
      @foxxyytofficial 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      the alternator is already 3-phase
      brushless are 3-phase...
