Servers dying out has mainly been due to two main factors, one being the EULA making it so servers cannot distribute and sell commands or items that give an advantage to a user and the second one being that most servers now focus on competitive style game-modes that reset monthly or every 3 months etc so unless you're already in a faction/team of some sorts, you'll never be able to settle down and enjoy the multiplayer aspect. That being said, there are of course servers out there that respect the EULA, are chilled and have a friendly player base but if there's one thing I know, they're washed off the face of publicity from the majority of what I mentioned so those who are hopping on server to server to seek somewhere to stick around don't tend to stay long enough because more often than not, it's fair to say people can judge a server like a book just by seeing the automated money hungry (go to /store) announcements, the spawn (crate area for premium keys) and colourful rank tags in TAB and chat.

We were meant to get a proper spiritual successor to Minecraft years ago called Hytale. The trailer dropped over 6 years ago and got 61 million views; the developers freaked out and delayed the game by a few years so that they could make something that would live up to the hype of 61 million people, but then the studio, Hypixel Studios, got bought by Riot Games, and it all went downhill. They have a website where, once upon a time, they posted blogs and development updates about once a month, but that quickly stopped, and now they post maybe once a year to just tell people that Hypixel Studios is not dead and the game is still being worked on, but that's about it; all the hype of 6 years ago is now gone, and the game is most likely never going to come out.

Bethesda dug their own grave there, almost like if you let someone else do your job for you, and they do it really well, nobody will need you to do your job anymore. Maybe if anybody had faith in Bethesda to make higher quality content than the modders for their games, people would be less disappointed, hmmmm
several great modcommunity games got successful next versions. for es6 they literally just need to make the same thing as they did with skyrim, improved graphics, better potential for mods and good enough basegame so it is sold in large enough numbers. of course with their last few attempts the chance for that is very slim and they will probably bake in way too many monetization option to the base game to make it shit. they probably would be better off with a free to play route and hope they can sell enough horse armor and other stuff to gain it back.

im skeptical personally, considering ALOT of minecraft's popularity is how you can customize it so freely with mods, and how a new game would likely require rewriting / transfering code, mod creators who have established themselves in minecraft would likely be hesitant to move, and as a result, stunt the growth of minecraft 2 alot, as people might not be open to the less mod heavy version
Notch became a billionaire, was hanging with celebrities, got depressed, divorced, went away for years and now wants to make minecraft 2. I would bet a lot of money he won't complete it.The George R R Martin of gaming.
Considering what i heard about the code behind minecraft, what notch achieved was pioneering a great concept and enough of a game to support that concept and honestly, a great amount of luck. If he tries something different, which he very well still might, as he originally wanted some retro something or other, and only changed his mind due to a community poll. *I honestly don't see him succeeding.* Although i do wish him all the luck and good karma in the world. I remember hearing at some point that he wasn't doing too good emotionally after selling minecraft, so it is really nice to hear him happy about creating a new game.
Also a lot of his success with minecraft was based on stealing ideas from modders/community and not crediting... lots of the modders left cause of it, including the guy who made pistons. Honestly a lot more hype for Hytale.
Just keep in mind. Notch doesn't usually finish things. He's really a hobbyist programmer who happened to get lucky with Minecraft. He did push through on that one (with help), and it nearly destroyed him. $2.5 billion from Microsoft and a Beverly Hills mansion helped him land on his feet though.

the notch story is so sad, he was a chill guy from sweden, i met him at dreamhack, he was great, then he sold the game, became a billionaire i believe, got this big, but empty house, and hosted selebrity parties while getting more and more isolated and depressed, downing alcohol and pills. i hope he makes a comback for his sake.
I'm not sure if people are too busy throating Notch because he's "unhinged" or "based" but the dude didn't even finish his first game. He made tons of unkept promises for new features only to walk so many of them back. He caught lightning in a bottle, lost motivation, and then put out drastically fewer and fewer updates until eventually selling the IP to Microsoft. His studio also tried to make a second game, a digital card game called Scrolls/Caller's Bane, that crashed and burned. His track record for making a good game is not exactly good. Holy shit in their contract it said Microsoft couldn't make a Minecraft 2 but I dont think it said the same about Notch hence this. I believe it will be a good game however I don't think he can use a lot of the beloved features in Minecraft in the sequel. Even if he can use the stuff he made himself, there are still very significant updates made by MS that I can't play without, such as the Update Aquatic, Villagers update and Nether Update. If he can just add on to the game tho it's gonna be crazy because Mojang's target is mostly money but for Notch it's passion. Only arguments against the new updates being small were that they are free even after 15 years of the game being out and bc its a big Corp, every features has to go through a lot of people therefore delaying every single step. But if Notch works on it, both issues are solved

I assume that “Minecraft 2” is going to take user-interface elements from “Rec Room” in which it becomes a game without Survival Mode, but it will only have Creative Mode and Online Mode. In Creative Mode, we build areas that we can save in our inventory and when we finished them, we publish them to the Online Mode-library and people can visit our created areas by looking them up in the search bar. Optionally, the visitors can leave a “like” on our area or add a “comment” to it. In Online Mode, we can optionally adjust our starter-dorm, adjust our character’s appearance and on our monitor, we can select areas that other creators have created. The point of this game is to either socially interact with other players online, enjoy the art of architecture that other players made, or enjoy building and publishing rooms.
Minecraft had only sold 15 million copies when Microsoft bought it, and now it has sold 300 million. A 20 times increase lets not pretend that it was perfect before and Microsoft just messed it up. Im still hopeful Notch can make a good game
Those numbers seem off for me, so I looked up on Wikipedia. 17 million on PC alone. 12 milion on Xbox 21 million on Mobile. Game was also released on PS3, but no sale numbers. Those are numbers for 2014 I found on Wikipedia. The 300 million is for all platforms. And it took a lot of time to achieve that, as 100m was sold in 2019, which means in first 10 years of Minecraft existence, in first 5 years Notch made at least 40% of that number.
Your numbers are off a bit, MC had sold 50million copies prior to the 2014 acquisition, so a 6x increase. But your point still stands. It was selling an average of 10 million copies per year prior to the acquisition, and 25 million per year after that. Those numbers don’t really indicate that Microsoft “messed it up”.

Y did private servers die out? Cos of Microsoft?
@@anonisnoone6125 Not really. Microsoft have slowly been trying to push the Bedrock version (crossplay varient) out a lot more heavier than the original java version.
In other news: virtual worlds made of blocks are now patented.
They cant patent making a world out of blocks because they will get a lawsuit from 20 game companies that made their games in voxel style, luckily.

He has the money, the resources and connections to make whatever game he wants. The only thing that could hold him back is if he signs to a studio and they put him one the clock.
Why would he, though? Usually devs join publishers to get either funding or the entire marketing spiel. He doesn't need either.
The dude still has that Microsoft money, I'm sure he's not worried at all about funding
The only thing that can hold him back is himself. I'm not convinced that he has any concrete ideas on what Minecraft 2 should actually be and he's too busy posting nonsense on Twitter to make anything within a reasonable time frame.
I mean, the only thing holding him back is copyright and trademark laws, and I really don't think he wants to engage in a massive legal battle with Microsoft so they can protect THEIR intellectual property.
What money?? he burned through all of it.
And it would probably be of shite value if it is still produced by riot games

There was a time after minecraft took off, that Notch was working on a space game called 0x10c, with the premise being that you wake up from cryo-sleep on a ship that is controlled entirely through a 16bit computer, that would be emulated within the game. The idea was the player would need to write code (or copy from others) that would control the ship, or even write little 16bit game codes so you could play totally-not-tetris inside your ancient space computer game.

There's tremendous underrated value in something being the intended experience. I don't like mods.
several great modcommunity games got successful next versions. for es6 they literally just need to make the same thing as they did with skyrim, improved graphics, better potential for mods and good enough basegame so it is sold in large enough numbers. of course with their last few attempts the chance for that is very slim and they will probably bake in way too many monetization option to the base game to make it shit. they probably would be better off with a free to play route and hope they can sell enough horse armor and other stuff to gain it back.

That dosen't have many blocks, mobs and structures!
If you bought Minecraft to play Beta, my friend, there was a free website where you can play it.
@@cleverman383 1.8.9 was my favourite Minecraft version
@@cleverman383 Oh, look, a man blinded by nostalgia.
Could it compete with Minecraft? Not at this point. But all he has to do is listen to his players and he could make a pretty strong game.
ill never understand the hate notch gets, dude did something with his life.
I hope he hires some more devs than Mojang with his 1,2 billion dollars
He probably can do it alone. He did it with minecraft in the beginning too. He is also super super rich so he can take as long as he wants to.
@@benhavis2474 hes definitely hiring someone. that man probably didnt touch code for years. hes not gonna waste his time on a game.
@polishedmeat6399 I've been following him on Twitter for like 10 years, and he really seems like the type of guy who will make the game himself. He'll probably hire people to help, but I trust that its core will be made by Notch
@polishedmeat6399 Didn't he just said he find a spark in making games again? I'm sure part of that is programming
@ Yeah, there is literally no other reason for him to make the game because it’s not like he needs the money. I trust that he is doing it because he is the one actually making it
I’m not really on board. How would a Minecraft 2 even work? Minecraft’s style of gameplay, world and updates show anything that you could put in Minecraft 2 can be done in the first game. Kinda pointless 💀
He does not own the first game anymore
the game doesn't sound like minecraft. its a voxel first person game that's a roguelike, if you know Rotmg it seems it will align more with that then endless mining simulator.
@@tjgdddfcn I know that; still doesn’t make sense as to why we need a second rendition of the game
Look up Hytale. Basically Minecraft 2 that'll probably be releasing 2026, and is better in every way. Personally, I don't see Notch succeeding with a Minecraft 2. Guy isn't talented, he got lucky.
@@SleepyStreak Hytale isn't coming riot games canceled it.
MC 2 gonna be a 2D Asteroid looking game where you build on a plane and fight triangles, but the lore is gonna be deep, the gameplay exciting and the community access unrestricted. XD
But if Notch works on it, both issues are solved
i think the thing that shocked me more was seeing GTA released in 2013. i could have fcking sworn it was released later than that. holy shit. and could have sworn minecraft was released earlier than 2009.... god time is just blending together at this point for me. fkc
It was released later on most platforms. It was only PS3 and 360 originally
You are looking better & better with each new day.
Bless your heart😁🔥⤵️
So vertical slabs?!
Watch that’s the ONLY new feature lmao
No way. Half slabs were his biggest regret. He hated them.
Why bro keep lifting his eyebrows up so much 💀💀💀
He's kicking it up a notch.
12 milion on Xbox
21 million on Mobile.
Let's also not forget that Notch did not instantly leave.
Your numbers are off a bit, MC had sold 50million copies prior to the 2014 acquisition, so a 6x increase. But your point still stands. It was selling an average of 10 million copies per year prior to the acquisition, and 25 million per year after that. Those numbers don’t really indicate that Microsoft “messed it up”.
and now Minecraft is getting sued - make of that what you will.
