Very good list! Only thing I disagree is about Adula's Moonblade. It has very good range on the projectile, stunlocks most smaller enemies, and comes out really fast, so it's spammable, almost Carian Slicer level (at a higher cost). The damage is very high, and I feel like it's safer to use than Zamor Ice Storm. Especially in the DLC, where enemies are crazy aggressive. Adula's is just crazy. The best part is that, because it's just a bit slower than Carian Slicer, it gives enemies a bit of time to reach you, but not enough to attack you. So they get within range of the full damage, but while still being stunlocked

All these are well and good, but my guiding moonlight that has been with me all along....Ancient Death Rancor. Honorable mention for me cause it never misses, insane poise damage, and npcs can't dodge it. Does it all for me.
I think ancient death rancor at late game is broken. I used it against Malenia and she was practically stunlocked for entire fight. You can use lusat staff and prince of death staff in other hand (with ng+ pod can actually be even better), and it just destroys enemies. Or, you can use bloodhound step ash of war in one hand, and staff in other, easily keeping the distance and bombarding enemy with death rancor
Ancient Death Rancor is practically my go-to spell for bosses. The damage output is sick. And now, I even have a complementary spell to use with it in Spectral Rings of Light in case I need something faster over the better tracking.
bro I think the new gravity spell is so op.. the one that pulls enemies towards it and then explodes. I noticed if you cast it on the floor it immediately explodes instead of doing the ''pulling in animation'' first AND knocks them back. always free kills when i invade or get invaded. they literally cant do nothing especially in narrow dungeon pathsi dont even feel ashamed everyone spams the ash of war of messmers spear or falx spammer, sword of night spammer. if they use 0 skill, I use less skill🤷♂
I'm running a build with 60 arcane, 25 faith and 10 intelligence. Poison mist on a bleed bloodfiend's arm, mushroom crown, offhand poison hand with rot and poison boost talismans running dragon communion seal and the albinauric staff exclusively to use impenetrable thorns. Even at the minimum faith and int, and arcane at only 60, this is my strongest spell and it costs essentially nothing from the rest of my build to run besides the weight of the staff. Think it nearly matches more optimized int arcane builds using thorns if I take a moment to poison myself before a fight and cast golden vow. Highly recommend and when thorns gets nerfed into the ground it's still otherwise a totally excellent build that you won't have to respec from. Just remove the staff and focus on incantations and your poison bleed weapon.
I feel like people underrate comet azur. I carry it around to use w/o hidden tear and it's fine. Sometimes you don't mind spending a bar of fp to just (half) kill something either thru shield or just bc you don't really want to deal with it, esp since if you get hit once that'll take a crimson flask to heal up anyways. Things with shields, mini bosses standing around, that 1 fireknight on the narrow walkway, tree spirits, even crucible knights in the base game etc. Just blast a full fp bar their way. What else were you going to carry anyways?
I did rock sling, blades of stone, meteorite spells only on all the bosses with no summon. Rock sling is almost too slow to cast in boss fight. Blue dancer charm can buff it but you need to have no armor. Arrow reach talisman works but it’s not necessary in boss fight.
I’m rune level 200 in NG+2 on my main character and just made a 40 strength/40 dex/60 faith build with just enough int and arcane to use Discus of Light and some Dragon Communion spells but this video just makes me want to try an intelligence build again lol
would you do a pvp video like best stuff overall for pvp? especially invasions but invading seems unpopular in this game so won’t hold my breath for that
I got lazy and called forth my mimic tear to do double Impenetrable Thorn against PC Radahn. It almost felt like we were bullying him lol. After that I rarely used it because it is absurdly broken. But it can be your go-to if an enemy really pisses you off or makes you struggle and you just want it to die instantly, as long as they're not immune to bleed.
Those still cost 10 faith. There are weak versions which gives 35% protection, and then there are the more costly, higher faith requirement buffs, which gives 60% reduction
I agree with most of the list but I do think that meteorite of astel in 99% of cases out performs comet azur (and you can use it for the albunauric rune farm)
Can you explain that? It’s killing me, I heard him say it and was super confused like since when is “cos” a valid pronunciation. It sounds like orphan of kos but idt that’s the joke
@@monhi64 yep! Kos is a "great one" in bloodborne. The boss micolash has a line where he yells "Kos, or some say Kosm, do you hear our prayers??" You can hear the line allot as you chase him around the boss area so it stuck in lots of our heads haha
I might put Dark Moon a bit higher due to its use as an additional evasive option. Being able to evade and attack while punishing is hugely valuable against the DLC bosses, especially because those scenarios (twin moon, consort meteors, PK's fire, dancing lions breath + spins) wouldn't allow for a strong punish. There aren’t as many windows for big punishes, but with dark/full moon you can make those windows happen where they normally wouldn't. I'd probably swap it and microcosm (in my experience enemies usually move after taking the first instance of damage). Great list!
Dark Moon is awesome because: - applies magic defense down 10% - applies frost, which when full puts all defense down another 10% - hits kinda hard - tracks very well, and far - the part where you're a moon is a basically an evade AND counter It helped in my vid against Malenia and was my primary way to beat Sludge Horse.
Shard spiral is absurd, even the small enemies the damage is comparable to night comet or comet for a lot less FP but multi hits so can shred groups of small enemies. It’s just slow that makes it less optimal for small enemies. And obviously huge enemies stand no chance, and since if you attack quick enough it’ll show you the number of added up damage I got as high as 100k on a furnace golem. If I was in charge of balancing I’d want to try increasing the FP cost a lot but make the spell a lot faster all around as compensation. A sort of magic Gatling gun at that point, imagine how sick it’d be if it chain cast it quick and use the unlimited FP tear. Super fun but probably would end up more OP than unlimited FP comet azur
Comet Azur was #1 for a while for me based on my vid but, I found Thorns in time to beat Consort in my video. Damage is supreme. Use it before it gets nerfed.
As a blood mage main, the DLC really upped the anti. Aberrant spells got a great spell, dragon communion got some neat toys, and blood oath got... anyway, Arcane casters are eating good.
Surprised to see no mention of Myriam's vanishing this shit is so absurdly fast, lagless and great I frames, basically pre nerf BHS for mages (and looks so cool )
Gravitational missile is better than fleeting microcosm imo. It has less range but it’s way easier to spam by just shooting at the ground and it has a bigger aoe.
If you're looking for an enemy that doesn't care about the Impenetrable Thorns at all, just mess around the Furnace Golems. It doesn't do a thing to them.
Hey youwy where would u rank ancien death rancor in terms of good decent or bad, that spell carried me thru alot of the dlc, unless it got nerfed but it virtually made fire knights not an issue for me and it would stagger bosses also
where's gravitational missile its just a better version of fleeting microcosm also blades of stone is just a better rock sling, takes about the same time to cast but does more damage and does pure physical damage
@@youwy you can cast gravitational missile towards the ground to explode it immediately, forfeiting its delay, it does more poise damage, and it does a majority of its damage in 1 whole hit meaning enemies cannot avoid it as easily as fleeting microcosm i can get calling blades of stone worse than rock sling due to it being way more easily cancelled, but it definitely does a whole lot more damage and its easier to land on the bosses that its really good against, like rennala.
I would actually disagree upon placing Fleeting Microcosm instead of Gravitational Missile on this list. In my testing the latter just deals more damage even without any buffs (and gravity staff outdoes even both maternal staff + finger robe) with the same investment, consumes less fp with having less requirements, and has more versatility in ways it can be used in casting, with insta-explosion while cast into the ground, plus in has those smaller staggers which open windows for other spells. The things that are obviously worse are delay before the final explosion being much longer on missile (somewhat countered by ability to insta-proc) and range is just not on par, here microcosm is just better. But overall I prefer the missile.
The better no nerf the thorns. If they do it’s gonna go from great to dog shit. They aren’t that good at balancing. I also see no point in nerfing it because it’s not a bug, it’s not that good in pvp, and you can just not use it in pve if you don’t want to.
I hope they won't nerf Impenetrable Thorns. I always wanted to have another Dark Bead in Elden Ring. Dark Bead was a much better spell than Impenetrable Thorns btw. and they never nerfed it.

Ancient Death Rancor is practically my go-to spell for bosses. The damage output is sick. And now, I even have a complementary spell to use with it in Spectral Rings of Light in case I need something faster over the better tracking.
@@Folutu ow, good idea, need to try it myself)
bro I think the new gravity spell is so op.. the one that pulls enemies towards it and then explodes.
In PVE Fleeting Microcosm is just better.
@@youwyHow so?Gravity missle is broken.
Yeah bad take. Gravity Missle is broken even in PvE
@@youwy i forgot u base it around pve
Ooooh majestic! A hunter is a hunter, even in Elden Thing.
Nice bloodborne reference for fleeting microcosm
I’m rune level 200 in NG+2 on my main character and just made a 40 strength/40 dex/60 faith build with just enough int and arcane to use Discus of Light and some Dragon Communion spells but this video just makes me want to try an intelligence build again lol
would you do a pvp video like best stuff overall for pvp? especially invasions but invading seems unpopular in this game so won’t hold my breath for that
I don't think youwy does any pvp or cares for it much. Scott Jund has good rankings that focus on invasions :)
@@calebcantreid ty!
That Micolash reference was good 😂
I got lazy and called forth my mimic tear to do double Impenetrable Thorn against PC Radahn. It almost felt like we were bullying him lol. After that I rarely used it because it is absurdly broken. But it can be your go-to if an enemy really pisses you off or makes you struggle and you just want it to die instantly, as long as they're not immune to bleed.
Can't believe i played for so long and didn't found out night comet or spiral were that good, nice advice
i defeated consort radhan using the night comet xd i also also used moonveil with the carian regal scepter
@@andrei-cezarbleaje5519 def gonna use it on my next run
Fleeting Microcosm may be the most beautiful spell in any Souls game
Loved that bloodborne reference
Youwy the fortification incantation you talked about yesterday no longer require only 10 faith, they require alot more
Those still cost 10 faith. There are weak versions which gives 35% protection, and then there are the more costly, higher faith requirement buffs, which gives 60% reduction
Your videos are great 👍
I agree with most of the list but I do think that meteorite of astel in 99% of cases out performs comet azur (and you can use it for the albunauric rune farm)
Appreciate the "cos, or some say cosm" joke 😂
Can you explain that? It’s killing me, I heard him say it and was super confused like since when is “cos” a valid pronunciation. It sounds like orphan of kos but idt that’s the joke
@@monhi64 yep! Kos is a "great one" in bloodborne. The boss micolash has a line where he yells "Kos, or some say Kosm, do you hear our prayers??" You can hear the line allot as you chase him around the boss area so it stuck in lots of our heads haha
What are your thoughts on a rework for sleep and madness maybe even all status effects. ❤❤❤❤
A frost exultation talisman would’ve been sick
"Fleeting Microcos... or some say Microkosm" lmao, Youwy is in his prime right now
I might put Dark Moon a bit higher due to its use as an additional evasive option.
Great list!
Dark Moon is awesome because:
- applies magic defense down 10%
- applies frost, which when full puts all defense down another 10%
- hits kinda hard
- tracks very well, and far
- the part where you're a moon is a basically an evade AND counter
It helped in my vid against Malenia and was my primary way to beat Sludge Horse.
Shard spiral was the MVP my first playthrough of the dlc with my magic character.
4:00 a hunter is a hunter even in the lands between!!
Microcosm has to be one of the top 3 spells in all souls games if not one it's such a cool spell glad it's actually viable too.
Surprised you didn't mention gravitational missile. It's THE best close range nuke for sorcerer's, and the cast time is ludicrous
Comet Azur was #1 for a while for me based on my vid but, I found Thorns in time to beat Consort in my video. Damage is supreme. Use it before it gets nerfed.
That Micolash reference made me smile
As a blood mage main, the DLC really upped the anti. Aberrant spells got a great spell, dragon communion got some neat toys, and blood oath got... anyway, Arcane casters are eating good.
I think we all knew what #1 was going to be right away
Surprised to see no mention of Myriam's vanishing this shit is so absurdly fast, lagless and great I frames, basically pre nerf BHS for mages (and looks so cool )
3:59 earned a like
Gravitational missile is better than fleeting microcosm imo. It has less range but it’s way easier to spam by just shooting at the ground and it has a bigger aoe.
grav missile is similarly useful but has more flexibility, loses out on damage a bit, but also amazing for pvp too which Microcosm isn't
If you're looking for an enemy that doesn't care about the Impenetrable Thorns at all, just mess around the Furnace Golems. It doesn't do a thing to them.
True. Furnace Golems require such a different approach that tier lists would be turned upside down and backwards for what's good just against them.
Just use pest threads and you are good
@@gabrielfernandes7370 It helps that impenetrable thorns is very efficient stat point wise on a pure faith build, so you have the option of both.
Hey youwy where would u rank ancien death rancor in terms of good decent or bad, that spell carried me thru alot of the dlc, unless it got nerfed but it virtually made fire knights not an issue for me and it would stagger bosses also
where's gravitational missile its just a better version of fleeting microcosm
also blades of stone is just a better rock sling, takes about the same time to cast but does more damage and does pure physical damage
It’s actually worse by a decent margin
@@youwy you can cast gravitational missile towards the ground to explode it immediately, forfeiting its delay, it does more poise damage, and it does a majority of its damage in 1 whole hit meaning enemies cannot avoid it as easily as fleeting microcosm
i can get calling blades of stone worse than rock sling due to it being way more easily cancelled, but it definitely does a whole lot more damage and its easier to land on the bosses that its really good against, like rennala.
Replace Zamor Ice Storm with Ranni's + Freezing Pot and you get the frostbite debuff plus moon debuff.
The better no nerf the thorns. If they do it’s gonna go from great to dog shit. They aren’t that good at balancing. I also see no point in nerfing it because it’s not a bug, it’s not that good in pvp, and you can just not use it in pve if you don’t want to.
random question but what are the sliders for your character lol its hilarious
I hope they won't nerf Impenetrable Thorns. I always wanted to have another Dark Bead in Elden Ring. Dark Bead was a much better spell than Impenetrable Thorns btw. and they never nerfed it.
can you do a level 1 run top useful new items? I could really use that
Now then, which is better: Terra Magicka, or Flame Grant Me Strength?
Shard Spiral is my favourite spell in the game!
As an int main user i knew how this top 10 would look xd
Best Elden Ring race list, next.
