Arena / complete MTG newbie here. I have bought this pioneer deck yesterday and I wanna practice with it in Arena. I'm curious what steps you had to take to replicate it digitally.
Quick upgrades under 20 -> 4x Burning-Tree Emissary; 2x Halana & Alena; 2x Fight Riggings; 4x Ranger Class; 4x Fiona (Gruul Spellbreaker). Take out : 4 Oozes ( goes to side, it is good against Gravey decks); 4 Mizzium ( besides White People's pride, i mean, Mono W humans, there's no "Token" synnergic deck. But it also goes to side); 2 Chandras ( they are good. But the Aggro version is way more powerful); 4 Abrade ( Hit face, only face, FACE); 4x Luvstruck beast ( This one is great, but Gruul Spellbreaker is definetly more flexible and has almost the same board presence); 4 Elvish Mystic.
I've been playing gruulish decks since 2018 and tbh, this one is actually one of the most consistent midrange builds from 2019- 2021. Right now we use more things like Shivan Devastator, Defiler of Vigor, Atarka and her command... But this challenger deck got the core of EVERY green build ( 8 elves) + EVERY gruul builds ( 4 Elves + 4 Giants + 2 Glorybringers). Also, landbase is actually fine with this one. You could even consider the Tango Lands for a budget option.
When she enters you add 4 loyalty counters, as you see number 4 in the bottom-right corner of the card. You can activate her once per turn, so for example, you can +1 to add RR, which will add a Loyalty counter bringing her up to 5. If instead you -3 to deal 4 damage to something, she'll go down to 1 counter. After you have activated her once you can't activate her again until the next turn. So basically, you can + and - to add and remove counter to activate abilities. Keep in mind that players can attack planeswakers, and damage removes counters. If she has 5 counters and takes 3 damage, she'll go down to 2 counters. Planeswalkers are VERY powerful because of all the value you can get from repeatedly activated them, but they are also vulnerable since they can be attacked directly. Hope that helps!
@AffinityforMTG thanks for explaining. When you use her ult does she leave play and I'd assume any time you cast a spell ie summon creature or sorcery. She does 5 damage. Making that pretty horrid.
She'll only leave play if she runs out of counters. You can't use the -7 if she doesn't have 7 counters, but if she had 8 counters for example, you can -7 and she'll still have 1. If she has 7 counters and you -7, she'd go to the graveyard for having no counters. If you can manage to reach the ult, yeah, the emblem is pretty devastating. It triggers every time you cast any spell, creature, instant/sorcery, enchantment/artifact, and it deals 5 damage. The game usually ends pretty quickly after that, and emblems are impossible to interact with so the opponent has no way to remove it.
You misplayed the first game a bit in the beginning, but I am not sure if it would have made a difference- maybe :) Anyway, really liking this videos and I think the decks are a great staring point for pioneer. :)
The last game was awesome.... i'll be waiting for the up date of this deck!
Yeah, I thought all was lost once the Cultivator Colossus was played but I somehow managed to survive. :)
Hi, great gameplay videos - like that you edit them to get to skip boring bits, and that you don't think about a single move for 5 minutes :)

Most importantly, this looks fun to play.
Definitely! :)

I love the gruul pioneer deck what I hate is three colored board wipe I can't play magic very well decks😑
Board wipes are brutal against creature-based decks, for sure!
@@AffinityforMTG not against my green and black great henge land destruction deck there not🤠
How does chandra work ? I don't understand how the + and minus work on planes walkers ?

@AffinityforMTG that awesome the ultimate way of making your opposition pay 😂 thanks for sharing this 😀

Yeah, I could have held Glorybringer back, but they had reach blockers so I think it would have played out the same.
No, I mean you play the giant before the Lovestruck beast, that’s one damage less + the 2 direct damage from the giant you are missing.
wait you actually get 4 shock lands in a precon???
Nope! I just didn't have any Karplusan Forests, so I added 3 extra shocklands instead. :P
Oh 1 at least isnt bad I guess
