I’ve really been enjoying videos from “smaller” creators like yourself. I’m actually connecting with a real and regular person - not some influencer demanding that I build an “empire” and “generational wealth”. Also, it’s very easy to follow your coherent communication style.
Thanks for watching. I'm just trying to pay for rent, food, diapers and look after a family. If i can invest & save. 99% of people out there are just trying to do that
Hedonic adaptation gets to all of us at some point, but the fear of losing what you’ve gained can paralyze you into inaction. All I can say is that we all face some form of regret, whether it’s from staying in the same loop or taking shots and missing. The real question is, what kind of story do you want to tell yourself when you look back? Which form of regret would you rather endure? Thanks for this video, bud. Wishing you the best this year! 🇨🇦
Happy new years. I can really relate to this as well. I'm 36 years old now. I know my strengths and weaknesses, I'm an alright web dev. Want an app made in next ? Sure. Remix ? No problem, I'll figure it out. But I'm never gonna be that one dev rocks every leetcode problem and knows how to scale apps like Netflix does. I'm tired of being a developer. It takes a lot of energy, and more importantly often it's also not very fulfilling. Often you end up doing something only for it to be scrapped 1 week before it was supposed to be released. Often you just implement shit that annoys users to make some extra profit. For now my goal is by the time I'm 40 I want to code at least 50% less than I do now. How I don't know. Management? If I can't do that I'll try transitioning into doing freelance 3 times a week or something else.
a big reason why is autistic mega nerds made web-dev life (in JS ecosystem) a hellish treadmill JUST to create essentially the same crap we could just do in Laravel + PHP or NodeJS + Express + markup
"It takes a lot of energy, and more importantly often it's also not very fulfilling." This is me but yeah it pays well so what else can I do right now. Hope you can find the right path for you in 2025. Thanks for watching man.
As an engineer at a stable job in his 30s, this resonates with me greatly. One mindset that has helped me stay invested in coding is to actively look for ways to make my day-to-day work easier (e.g. infra improvements, alarms, etc) so that I can put less effort. Ironically, this has the effect of growing my skills, which keeps me employable and valued on the job.
More like Richard Stallman in his younger days. I was 100% sure he's some low level guru, maybe OS or kernel developer. I was quite shocked when React came up. But that explains why he doesn't enjoy programming anymore 😂
Relatable. I'm a dev moving to Tokyo in the summer. I made a career change into this field a few years ago because of the job opportunities, but I realize now that I will never be an elite engineer, either. I don't have the energy to make another career switch right now, so plan to just chill in a 9-5 in Tokyo for a bit and see what other opportunities I can find once I have the energy to push toward another path again
I'm just a year after uni working a web dev job in my country and I can already feel this way. It was exciting to work at first, but now it just feels more like a torture. I spend 5 days a week at home looking at a screen solving technical problems I don't care about. And at the end of the day I'm so drained I don't wanna do anything. I can't accept I'll have to do this for the next 20 or so years. I've tried to work on some of my own projects but haven't earned much from them and abandoned most. Now I don't have much motivation. Maybe changing a company would help, but it wouldn't solve the underlying issues. Would be nice to come to Japan for a language school and work in IT afterwards. I'm afraid that I wouldn't handle the job culture there though end eventually just leave. Looking forward to hearing your take on working only half a week.
When I started making shorts I got a flood of 10 million devs from India asking me for a job. No small talk. Straight to business. yeah you are right they don't have N1,2 or even 3.
I don't know why I'm watching this @3am as a computer science student. I'm glad I stumbled on this channel, I like you already. If I may ask, what should I do or learn to earn extra rent money as a student, I love kernel development but its hard to freelance
Dude, I am 36 male, with 5 years of experience. I mainly develop with React Native. But I am tired of using it, due to its limitations. I have been freelancing in the last 1 year, but looking for full-time job but it seems conditions are harder now. I am learning Kotlin-Jetpack compose, to see how native side works. Maybe I tried to publish a app to see if it grows or not. I am applying jobs but it is annoying. It is annoying to spend time for CV-cover letter, being reject, even not hearding. I am constantly switching between "Find a job" | "Forget it, work your own idea.". Any way, I have at least 16 hours a day but rarely utilize it.
I am a full-stack developer, and I want to create an IT company, such as a software house, that focuses on freelancing. Would freelancing be a good option for me? Can I successfully close projects and acquire new ones in Japan as a freelancing company? I have watched many videos about this.
If you are in Japan you should ask advice from a CEO/CTO of a tech company. If you aren't in Japan then there is no point to give advice. Anyway thanks for watching.
I’m on the discord as well. I think the pleb discord group. Is it just me or nothing really goes on there? Do I need to do some kind of verification? I only see the rules and announcements. No other place to connect with other members. Nice video by the way 🙌
Im japanese newbee Engineer. Sadly , expert Engineers around me always say "Coding id Dead. we have to learn Comuunication skills". wah, what should i do... :(
I was working in the low level programming domain, it was my first job after passing out from college. But it was too much work but it was good work , taught me a lot about the underlying principles of how a CPU works. So, I left it. Started working on my own thing, building trading tools using the soy stack. But soy stack is actually kind of nice, to ship products fast. But yes, I will not spend my whole life building tools using JS, had a blast when I learned about the auto garbage collection of these high level languages. When I build things in JS, the code just doesn't feel like its mine. Yes, I'm an Indian, will be coming to Japan in probably like in July and will work with 1/3 rd of what you get paid. But my work will never match the quality of yours. You have more experience, because of which the 3x pay you get is worth it to the employer. I have just graduated, so I might not know much about failing as you do. But building something of value takes time, and you can always take time out of your day to work on it. Goodluck.
Hey man once you get here gain some experience in Japan & learn Japanese. After a few years your income will increase and you will have so many more options. All the best in 2025 man
In some countries it's an earned title (like doctor or lawyer) so it's illegal to misuse it. Japan makes it easy to pass for one as they katakanized the English word. And they love overblown titles on business cards; I had an "Engineer" coworker who had no technical background or skills whatsoever, and I mean not even in another field (that wasn't needed for the job). There's 技師 as well but I never heard it in the context of IT.

I don't want to regret not having a roof over our heads and food on the table.
Hope things get better for Canadians in 2025!

Sounds like you are in a good position best to keep your job and not follow your dream these days.
You look like an ancient greek developer ;D

I don't enjoy frontend at all.
It's a means to an end

It's not as bad and just as bad as people say.
All the best in 2025 mate.
I think it's all on point except for the 10 million guys with N1. They have N5 or N4 if they're lucky.
When I started making shorts I got a flood of 10 million devs from India asking me for a job. No small talk. Straight to business.
yeah you are right they don't have N1,2 or even 3.
Hire 1 Indian and he will bring whole village with fake degrees in japan running after women. Uggghh..@@devippo
Hello Tyrone, happy new year!!
Happy New Year Mate!
Pearls of wisdom.

If I may ask, what should I do or learn to earn extra rent money as a student, I love kernel development but its hard to freelance
Cheers mate.
Never met someone who gets paid to develop kernels. I am a soy dev so whatever is hot in web dev or smartphone dev pays the bills.

Lets get out of the noobie zone and get good in 2025.

“Making money from the soy stack economy” is probably the greatest line I’ve heard since 2025 began
Hope you are capitalizing from it!
At 16 minutes it sounds like you're negotiating your prison sentence 😂
happy new year
Cheers mate!
Happy new year!
That's a great plan.
Cheers mate!
This visa issue is why i moved from tokyo to Thailand
Must be fun in Thailand
"Soy stack economy" You know what, makes sense💀
It Makes Cents and now I can pay rent, eat food and invest in a shitcoin.

Dunno. I see some fairly paid full-time jobs, some barely paid half-time jobs, and no fairly paid half-time IT jobs at all. Any hint?
No idea to be honest

Dude, find people problem in reedit and solve it using ur skill. At least 10 paying people is good enugf hahah

Japan is easy mode man, so many 未経験 jobs around.
Learn some communication skills.
@@devippo me did't think it's easy. but from expert engineer perspective, japan is easy. okayy got it! :)

i am shit at IT , but can i go out and earn good money?
Not in this climate. No. You missed the ZIRP gravy train by a few years
This question is cooked.
That is what I am saying. Most of clowns these days call themselves engineers. Embarrassment.
You are triggered if someone calls themself an engineer.
I'm a REAL Engineer. React & tailwind.
@devippo ok . I believe you.

This is was a joke.
I am not an engineer
I'm a soy dev.
Mr. Mojo Risin?
