This is so sad and depressing, nothing makes me angrier knowing kids go hungry and especially if a school can make a difference but they don’t. The school program is entirely messed up, 3 in 10 kids go hungry everyday in America alone and it’s so sad.
Just make some donation account. Maybe raise money through some fair. Give each kid some free lunch. And if a kid never use free lunch give him/her award batch or certificate
My school said "if you don't have money you don't get anything" and if the lunchroom monitor saw that you jad no food they said "you have to get food or you're going to detention," outrageous
I’ve commented that our school is very very very different. But there is also a student resource lady that the lunchroom drops off extra packaged foods or she buys them. She has an open fridge and pantry. When kids are hungry or have limited food at home; they are allowed to grab things with no guilt.
So glad for my elementary school 😭 I didn't start getting the free lunch till about 4th grade, but my lunch ladies would NEVER turn a child away, with or without food. Once I went almost a month without lunch money, money was tight at the time and we had to cut funding where needed, so since we could eat when we got home we didn't get money for lunch, it annoyed some of the lunch staff, and there was eventually a phone call about it, but they never took our food away or told us we couldn't have it, and after the situation was explained too they stopped harassing my family for money for lunch also, it's called compassion and empathy, something a lot of people (regardless of age) lack these days. I will be forever grateful to the sweet ladies though who would slip me something extra for snack time or to take home, those small deeds went a long way for me and helped greatly where needed.
The massively shittier part is that there's STILL food leftover. My schools did a thing where if there were leftovers, then it was set out as free food. Paying got access to all the "better" things, like ice cream and fresh cookies and the complete menu of the day, but there were students just waiting to take the leftover main meals. No questions asked. Just come up and take it when the signal goes up. First come, first served. There was no point in saving the items as the menu changed daily, so it limited food waste, saved space, and let others feed themselves.
I just got the biggest flashback of my life. I was in 3rd grade when this happened, and I moved to a new school. My family was poor, so I couldn't bring my own lunch and remember them stamping me. It was so humiliting. Luckily, my teachers for the rest of the year got me lunch and let me eat in class. But I dont understand why they punish the kids instead of getting the parents to pay at a later time.
at my school, if we run out of money they will still let us buy lunch, but it just puts our accounts in the negatives, and you just cant buy any extra snacks if your account is negative
My school used to cost us for our food but it didn't last long bc they give us free food now. But if u want extra food like a bag of chips u have to pay
At my school we went and talked to the money lady before going into the food line. She had a book to keep track of how much money everyone had on their account, and if you didn't have money you still went through. If you built up a significant debt they would contact your parents and backdate an application for free or reduced lunch if needed, but they would never let a kid go hungry.
I know our schools are legally required to feed anyone. They choose to not label kids and do the same lunch for all. However; they also have a district kitchen that food probably costs more than old days, so they try to get ppl that can afford to cover their lunch budget. They though then budget every year so all kids get their school supplies 100% paid got (including high school lab/laptop/ college course / tuition supplies for high schoolers doing college courses instead of high school)
I have a similar story: When I was in 7th grade the lunch lady took a look at my account and told me I didn't have any money left. I asked to call my parents so they could bring me some money, but she refused, threw the food away, and sent me on my way. For the next 7 weeks I went without lunch, and lost quite a bit of weight. (I'm a big girl so it was surprising XD) It took a random teacher that saw me not eating to actually get involved and call my parents.
Bro thats basically ILLEGAL in my country- the only time you get to buy your own lunch is in college where you can buy restaurant food from like mcdonalds or smth
Ah, my time has come. When i was in primary school, they were extremely strict about "healthy" eating, im talking diet culture level strict, like they were giving kids picky eating habits. They had a policy that you had to bring your own packed lunch for break time, but if the teachers didnt consider it healthy enough theyd throw out the food your parents spent money on, and force you to go hungry. Apparently a young 8 year old going hungry is healthier than a yoghurt pot with, dare i say it, fat in it. They forced me to throw away my yoghurt one time because it didnt have 0% fat plastered all over it. Like your school, they didnt back down when my parents contacted them threatening to report them for neglect and abuse. My mum found a way around the yoghurt problem by printing out labels that says 0% fat on them and sticking them on the yoghurt pots. Idk if that rule is still up, this was years ago as im now in college, but im praying that rule is gone because all it did was waste money and food, and give kids anorexia
@@Snuzzled exactly, and not only that but their alternative was starvation. They thought starving children was a better alternative than letting children eat **gasp** FAT!!
This is an accurate situation in the middle school I went to. But instead of the cheese stick and crackers it was a week old or even a MONTH OLD half PB&J and disgustingly left out apples that they PICKED from the trash saying that “it’s perfectly good do not throw it out.” I doubt they washed it.
Mine is different! If you forgot to bring money the teacher gives you some 3 ringgit (money) the food in my school is cheap! This is my experience in Malaysia school :3
Wow that sounds incredibly insufficient!! My district eventually made all lunches and breakfast free, but back when they weren't atleast my schools were always kind enough to atleast provide a much lighter/cheaper meal for us if our money ran out. (Usually something like a sandwich or soup) They never made sure we starved!
In 2nd grade we have to get our tray (not buy it) and we say our name to the lunch lady and we go to our table sooooo if ur allergic to something they make something for you to eat then u char for some time and then we wash the tables. It’s actually really fun. They have to say ur number in line order!
My school still does that. If you don’t have enough money for your meal they literally take it away. They don’t even give you a replacement lunch, they just let you starve. It’s happened to me many times 😭
This needs to be addressed. This is NOT okay at all. Children NEED their lunch in order to get through the day. How do you expect them to act like adults when their brains are not fully developed yet? It's sad and disgusting.
In my school i would sometimes tell the lunch lady that i would pay her on monday since i only do this on Friday and they are always too busy ir too old to remember so it's pretty much stealing but not really if im feeling kind and the lady is kind i actually would pay her on Monday which only happened once!
At my school we never had to pay but the catch was that we always had to get a school lunch even if we didn’t want it, and I know you’re thinking “that’s a great idea” but no, it’s not, they never made enough food and the people in the back of the line never got food
Kids at my school just went into debt that they had to pay back by the end of the year. Some kid in my class went like 50 bucks into debt before paying it back. No reminder to pay or nuthin.
For my school, you wouldn’t be allowed to even go to the lunch period and just sit in a classroom doing homework. So I started bringing home lunches, that rule didn’t last long either.
It happened to me too! But all I got was an old roll a tiny slice of America cheese and a cup to get water from the water fountain down the hall. It’s like prison food.
I don't even get the food in the first place, they act like: "Awh it looks like you don't have enough money, now get out of here and I don't know figure something out."
at my school They still feed me but they don't even tell you if you have no money they just let you stay in debt until an random time and they tell you you have -243 dollars in your account
Fun Story, my school wanted to "solve" the trash problem at our schools yard and we had a Shop were we did get our Lunch, guess what? They were like:" We will close the Shop bcs of the trash" and they did close it, many kids did Suffer of this often their parents were going very early to work and couldn't make Lunch for them so a lot of kids were hungry asf sitting around whit stomach pain. A lot of parents complained about this, the principial got Fired and replaced, the Shop was reopened after 3 weeks
You should be shocked that kids had to pay for lunch in the first place, here you bring your own food so parents can manage the money for lunch, or you could buy something from the little food stand, but in public schools they also provide all students with free lunch at the end of they day, it wasn't the best but overall a better system for poorer families
Some adults see themselves as superior to kids and see kids as dolls that are lucky to even get food a house to stay and clothes, as adults treat kids like their always wrong even if they are in the right, then people wonder why do kids wanna grow up so fast...
My last school banned BACKPACKS. So basically everyone had to carry every single item they have by hand to each class. The rule is gone now since kids have been dropping their laptops in the hallways

My old teacher was an Angel she said “Now babys if y’all don’t have money I’ve got you”
I’ve commented that our school is very very very different. But there is also a student resource lady that the lunchroom drops off extra packaged foods or she buys them.
She has an open fridge and pantry.
When kids are hungry or have limited food at home; they are allowed to grab things with no guilt.
The fact the phone says "idiot"😂😂
Why would they do that, such a waste to throw it out and the poor kids who forgot money or didn't have enough money wouldn't get a good lunch. 😢
frr
So glad for my elementary school 😭
I didn't start getting the free lunch till about 4th grade, but my lunch ladies would NEVER turn a child away, with or without food.
That’s CRAZY!!
My school literally just told you. You still got lunch
In Finland every child gets lunch for free at school.
In my school we just brought our own lunch and if we forgot it they just gave us some toast or something like that
They would give us cup of noodles lol
Same for me. If we forgot lunch the teachers would give us some.
@@ellakeo6492lucky
That’s legitimately gotta be some form of child abuse!!!!! Crazy that was ever even allowed in the first place!!!!
In my school, you just sign up so the lunch ladies know if you're eating the school lunch or not, and you are paying nothing. It is free.
I remember hearing stories about how some students starved and lost weight because of that rule
Can u pls do more stories I love them 😍
at my school, if we run out of money they will still let us buy lunch, but it just puts our accounts in the negatives, and you just cant buy any extra snacks if your account is negative
same!!
If you built up a significant debt they would contact your parents and backdate an application for free or reduced lunch if needed, but they would never let a kid go hungry.
that’s actually pretty smart. also a whole lot better than what they did.
I'm so thankful to live in a state where all public schools get free lunch
Why can’t public school lunches just be free? Children are already required by law to be there, if not home schooled, so they should be fed.
BRO MY OLD SCHOOL WOULD COLOR OUR HAND WITH MARKERS IF WE DID NOT ANSWER CORRECTLY AND WE WERE IN KINDERGARTEN LIKE OML
I have a similar story:
When I was in 7th grade the lunch lady took a look at my account and told me I didn't have any money left. I asked to call my parents so they could bring me some money, but she refused, threw the food away, and sent me on my way.
For the next 7 weeks I went without lunch, and lost quite a bit of weight. (I'm a big girl so it was surprising XD)
It took a random teacher that saw me not eating to actually get involved and call my parents.
What did ur parents do?
i’m a lunchlady and now we give the kid a cheese sandwich and they get the salad bar and hot veggies. glad they don’t starve kids anymore.
Wtf full-fat yogurt is _fine_ and fat is necessary to help absorb the vitamins in food.
@@Snuzzled exactly, and not only that but their alternative was starvation. They thought starving children was a better alternative than letting children eat **gasp** FAT!!
such a waste of food!!! 😢 when ur mom was calling the principal “ idiot” lol😂
Me too 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 and I was just thinking about some takes😂😂
Mine is different! If you forgot to bring money the teacher gives you some 3 ringgit (money) the food in my school is cheap! This is my experience in Malaysia school :3
Foods always been free at my school
My school is like that, tho if you did not have your ID You weren't allowed to get lunch at all.Because they claim that it slows down the line
So lucky my elementary school was a native school, so it was homemade food for free.
My school just puts us in debt
Wow that sounds incredibly insufficient!! My district eventually made all lunches and breakfast free, but back when they weren't atleast my schools were always kind enough to atleast provide a much lighter/cheaper meal for us if our money ran out. (Usually something like a sandwich or soup) They never made sure we starved!
my school, if you dont have money, you arent eating.
Dude that’s crazy 😭 how are we like denying kids food like that wow
My school does this 😅 it has never happened to me before but you have to go to the office and get a cheese stick and some other things 😭
In 2nd grade we have to get our tray (not buy it) and we say our name to the lunch lady and we go to our table sooooo if ur allergic to something they make something for you to eat then u char for some time and then we wash the tables. It’s actually really fun. They have to say ur number in line order!
When the father was calling the school on the phone it said _idiot_ on it
And so glad that school lunches are just provided for ALL children if they need one at the schooly kids go to.
Well, good news. Vermont law states that school lunches must be free. So that's good. 🎉
My school still does that. If you don’t have enough money for your meal they literally take it away. They don’t even give you a replacement lunch, they just let you starve. It’s happened to me many times 😭
I’ve heard this from so many people in my comments now and that’s so awful :(.
@@AvaOaksyeah :(. Schools need to change this.
This needs to be addressed. This is NOT okay at all. Children NEED their lunch in order to get through the day. How do you expect them to act like adults when their brains are not fully developed yet? It's sad and disgusting.
@@SonicGamerGirl2006 I agree.
Pretty sure thats illegal.
I remember when you were a smaller youtuber!! I was on your live and asked for you to draw a backflip!
In my school they would just say" you need lunch money"
You should make more of these stories
the fact that dad had "idiot" as a contact name for the principle and the principle had named him "stupid"
Why do I love her voice❤😊
In my school i would sometimes tell the lunch lady that i would pay her on monday since i only do this on Friday and they are always too busy ir too old to remember so it's pretty much stealing but not really if im feeling kind and the lady is kind i actually would pay her on Monday which only happened once!
If that happened at my school my mom would have sued the whole school 💀😭☠️
first! (btw i love your animations sm!!)
School lunches should be free for all kids
not me,when i have no money...my teacher would just ask if i bought food and i always did
If the parent(s) don't make enough income, lunch is free
Ava you have a really STRONG voice..
Oh I’m sorry 😭😭! I always try to emphasize more when I do voiceovers for these
Hey ava! Hows art going? Congrats on 333k subs!:)
My school didn't even give you lunch or anything if you didn't have money.
That's messed up 😡
For my school, you just dont get the food if you dont have money
This is actually crazy & psychotic. Elementary school felt so much like penitentiary than an actual school…
Under 1 hour gang
👇🏽(not forcing)
Yep
Yup!!
Bot
Literally inserting my last minute entry
*horrified European noises*
Well, my school, we only have to scan a card to get lunch😊
In my school we don’t even need to pay
my school just lets us go into debt 🤦♀️
Not minding the fact that the phone said idiot and stupid lol
I am so so happy that my state now has free lunches and I hope everywhere continues to do this!
Some adults see themselves as superior to kids and see kids as dolls that are lucky to even get food a house to stay and clothes, as adults treat kids like their always wrong even if they are in the right, then people wonder why do kids wanna grow up so fast...
My school gives us nothing for lunch if you have no money in your account
It’s nice they still give you a snack, when I was in middle school you just got nothing
i love this animation, just subbed! You should really make more they’re really cool.
Bro if i dont get enough money..i dont even get food😭
Literally prison gives you more food
Yeah fr 😭
Now I’m grateful that my school lunch is free 😮 I’m sorry that some ppl have to go through this
I’m so glad that the school district I go to gives lunch for free
My last school banned BACKPACKS. So basically everyone had to carry every single item they have by hand to each class. The rule is gone now since kids have been dropping their laptops in the hallways
I like the way that the phone said idiot and stupid on it. That was funny. I’m literally dying on the floor right now help me.
