    In case anyone is interested there was a Company of men who became legendary during the war in the Philipines. They were entrenched in the church of a small town against heavy guerrillas; however, after a few months the fighting stopped and they were told by their opponents that Spain had surrendered and was no need to keep fighting. They, of course, thought it was a trick and kept fighting. Months went by and starvation took a heavy toll on them, and yet they fought on. As time went by the Philipinos kept desperately trying to convince the Spanish that the war was over, at a certain point even bringing a Spanish Colonel to order surrender, but the troops sent them off believing him an imposter. Spanish military culture placed a lot of value on never surrendering, and it was simply impossible for them to believe. The Saint of Spanish infantry is the Virgin of the Inmaculada Concepción; the story tells that when the Spanish Tercios were dug down, surrounded, fighting in the Netherlands during winter, and about to die of starvation and cold, one of the soldiers found an image of the Virgin Mary buried in the ground, during that night the water surrounding them froze, and the soldiers were able to march over the ice and assault the ships on foot. So inspired by many stories like that one, the soldiers fighting in the Philipines held out believing God would eventually intercede on their behalf or they would perish fighting. In was when the commanding officer was reading through the news bulletins that the Philippinos kept bringing them, that he found a small mention that one of his personal friends had been appointed to a post that he had many times said to want, and he finally concluded that it could not be fake. Finally, after over a year of siege, feeling betrayed by their country and their God, the Last of the Philippines capitulated and were escorted to Manila with honors, and without giving up their weapons.
    Truly, a legendary end to one of the greatest empires in World History.

And we pretty much single handedly defeated the Japanese navy in the Pacific and inflicted the most damage to the Empire of Japan. And the U.S. isn't in decadence, quite the opposite actually. See, if you could just pull your head out of that stinky Anti-American ass of yours you wouldn't be so blinded by Anti-Americanism.

      @@pepememe5572 Your clearly stating facts that aren't true, by stating that they need another 15 nations the British were the 1st to join the war when Poland got overran. So technically the EU was the country that needed the nations to win the war. While the Americans really only solely joined after Pearl Harbor were they focused on fighting for the Pacific. And for the fact of needing 15 for the Pacific side. You would be wrong it was really only the Japanese and Americans. While the Australians did fight back to it was only because they were being invaded by the Japanese as for the same as the Filipinos. But the Filipinos rather kill themselves than have the Americans liberate the Philippines because they heard nothing but the grueling story's that portrayed them as horrible men (true story, there is actually one major event with a death count highest from suicide - Happened in the Philippines. But in the end, the US liberated the Philippines. As the US went to find them to have a feudal system mixed with new they decided to drop the A-bombs on a Japanese city. Fun fact they actually planned to drop 4 A-bombs but in the end only dropped 2 because they knew how effective it was. So don't bring up this bullshit that makes the US look like some weak country probably defending yours when it clear ass shows that we have the most solid military in the whole world. Also don't bring up Russia because they had there own story in WW2 to and it wasn't so good they got there asses destroyed once Hitler decided to backstab Stalin.

    jabzy, the US fleet was already in Hong Kong when the war started. Theodore Roosevelt as second counsellor of the navy, strategically positioned the US fleet (disoveying orders) before the war was declared and even before the Maine explosión.

  • @MrGoncalobraz
    @MrGoncalobraz 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You check the build up for the war at least from the sinking of the Maine to the beginning of the war. How the US claimed to desire peace while a special commission tried to figure out what happened with the sank ship and at the same time expanded its army from a handful thousand to over one hundred thousand and its navy doubled its size. It should also be noted how relevant the delay forcefully imposed on the special commission by the US government affected its timely arrival in Washington to inform the explosion that provoked the sinking of the ship was internal and thus likely due to a malfunction or human error and not due to a Spanish attack, they just missed Congress's approval of the war for a handful of days but were forcefully kept in the Mississippi for over two weeks. Go figure.

    • @studiosnch

      True, to some essence. For instance, there was not a united front to combat the Americans. Add to that the factionalism within the major groups such as within the Katipunan-led Revolutionary Government of Emilio Aguinaldo, and finally the tactic of "divide and conquer" as applied by Americans and you've got your early 20th Century Philippines.

      +Ajeoung Actually, this rule of our flag was only adapted during President Elpidio Quirino's time (1950s-1960s). During the Philippine-American War, the battle flag of the Philippine Republic was the blue-over-red flag that is the civic flag today, though of a different shade of hue (and you're right, it's kinda royal blue) and with a human face on the sun, like that of the Argentinian and Uruguayan flags.

    I know this war. This war Ottoman sultan II. It was built by Abdulhamid. It caused the two states to hurt each other. American ships passed through the straits of Istanbul without Abdulhamid's permission. These ships were bombed by Abdulhamid's order. When the Americans heard about this, they went crazy and sent a giant fleet to fight the Ottoman. This was a disaster for the Ottoman Empire, the state had just gotten out of the war, it was a tired situation. Because Abdulhamid knew this, he sent his Hafiye to blow up the ship that will pass through the Strait of Gibraltar. Americans think Spain is doing this. Cuba was then a Spanish colony. There were 4,000 Ottoman Citizens in Cuba. Abdulhamid used these issues to revolt in Cuba and to blame America. The Spanish declared war on America. This is how the war started. Franco wasnt precisely a nice guy, but you really help him to win the war and defeat Stalin Psycho comunist puppets, that compensates anything. If the communist had won the war they would have millions exterminated Stalin Style, then Hitler would have invaded us, and you would have bombed Spain and retaken it. By the tine the war had ended Spain would have been massacred, totally destroyed. So thanks, Seriously.

      Shakespeare, universal English, an ally of Spain for all eternity.
      In 2016 Professor Francisco E. Prado has discovered that Shakespeare, glory of English letters, wrote The Tempest (the literary testament) calling the Spaniards to invade England to save the oppressed English Catholics. Professor Francisco E. Prado Infante, has deciphered the enigma of Shakespeare's thought, after 400 years of the writer's death, showing that almost all the characters are Spanish, and that Shakespeare loved Spain, and he was deeply Catholic. While in Oxford and Cambridge and in Hollywood they continue to write and film imaginary nonsense about the island of Bermuda. Próspero (Duke of Milan) is Felipe II, owner of the island, and Duke of Milan (the Duchy of Milan was of the Spanish Empire in Italy, where the Pope of Rome is located). Miranda is María Tudor (daughter of Prospero, but also continuity of Catholicism). The wicked witch Sycorax is Elisabet I, already dead. Caliban, the deformed savage, son of Sycorax, are the Anglicans (the only children the virgin queen could have). Alfonso, chief of the navy and king of Naples (territory of the Spanish empire in Italy), is Alonso Pérez de Guzmán (head of the invincible army in 1588) and Felipe III (king of Naples). Gonzalo, the honest secretary of the King of Naples, is Gonzalo Perez, the honest secretary of Philip II, who accompanied Philip II of Spain, to England, when Philip married Maria Tudor (1554-58). Antonio, the traitor and usurper of the dukedom of Milan, is Antonio Pérez, traitor and son of Gonzalo Pérez (to show the bad servant, the son and the good servant, the father) Ariel, the spirit of the wind, who brings the ship of the fleet, is the Holy Spirit that came out of the tree (the Cross) where Sycorax had locked him. Prospero frees him, as Philip II freed the Catholics. Fernando, who marries Miranda or English princess, is the cardinal-infant Fernando, son of Felipe III. Shakespeare is sending a message to Philip III to disembarks in the Armada, in England. Shakespeare wanted Spain to win the war, to bring Catholicism. It is an immense cultural victory that is already knowing the world. Imagine: for all eternity, Shakespeare, the most famous Englishman, is an ally of Spain and the Armada. It is necessary to change all Shakespeare, to rewrite all the biographical books, and to put: Shakespeare, the friend of Spain. Amén.

    I live on a naval base in the island of Guam 🇬🇺 and the island used to be controlled by Spain 🇪🇸, actually, where the navy base is, is where the Spanish mainly where. Spain controlled the island for a few hundred years until Henry glass ( admiral & captain of the USS Charleston, captures Guam from the Spanish General/Governor, Juan Marina. The Germans would later show up here in ww1 in a ship, where a little fire fight broke out, that was the first American-German encounter in WW1. And the Japanese invaded Guam on the same day they attacked Pearl Harbor.

    Actually Puerto Rican's and Cubans went to NYC to do a strategy to get rid of the Spanish. Cubans and Puerto Rican's attempted to form a a revolution on our own but gathered enough intel for US to take a step in and get rid of the Spanish. Puerto Rico's population helped but soon after they got rid of the Spanish they took control of the Island and declared it the free state but associated to USA (US territory). Then PR wanted independence like Cuba and failed.

      +Gustravo A. Fernandez Ortiz What race were the Puerto Ricans that got rid of the Spanish? Who were the original people there because Puerto Ricans now have Spanish blood if not how did they have their own identity was it like the European settlers who had developed their own culture and went to war with their British cousins? What mixture of races are Puerto Ricans and how do you know they have no Spanish blood and how did their bloodline come about? Do they speak Spanish? I don`t understand your comment, it`s way too vague.

    • @Wastelandgoose
      @Wastelandgoose 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Puerto Rico's first culture were Tainos, they expanded to dominican republic and cuba. Then the Spanish came along and brought african slaves. The Spanish mixed with Tainos and African slaves that were placed in Loiza and mountains. Then different generations of mixed race came and Puerto Rico got more civilized. But there was a problem because the Spanish that came directly from Spain were promised with titles and some other rewards. But many things happened in the mix where some population rebelled against the Spanish because the government were taking away properties and there was other situations happening in the moment. Then they went to USA because they wanted to get rid of the Spanish government. USA used the explosion of the ship as an excuse, but thanks to the intel of Puerto Ricans, Dominicans and Cubans they did a good strategy.

    Spain, discoverer and explorer of the entire American continent. Helped greatly to the US to become independent of the English, and how they paid? provoking a war they knew they were going to win due to the depressing state of the Spanish Empire. Their expansive yearning was the worst thing that could happen to Spain, however the great history of this empire will always endure, not in vain in many of the flags of the states of the USA there are Spanish symbols everywhere.

USA sank his own ship as an excuse to seize the entire Spanish territory did not already own, as he had done before in Florida, Alabama, and 70% of what is now the USA and was formerly New Spain.
    In Philippines___ there was a genocide of USA, more than a million people killed, there people who murdered the entire population over 10 years Philippines practiced and experienced all the more cruel torture, ended all colonial buildings over 300 years old and forbidden to speak Spanish. The Philippines was one of the richest places of asia, to day is now the poorest.
    In Cuba___ USA put a cruel dictator who led the people to poverty and inequality previously not known, before the revolution called the island's brothel of USA.
    Guam___ island prison where they still practice torture without legal Protective wear without any public record.

      +Carl Tem As a Filipino, I would partly agree with your comments. However, to call it a genocide would be misleading or even erroneous, even though the Americans did eliminated many Filipino communities and villages during the war (one of the most notable was the Balangiga Massacre in Samar).
      The restriction in Spanish was true. Thankfully nowadays Spanish has been also taught as an "elective language" subject in secondary education.
      And to say that the Philippines was one of the richest in Asia under the Spanish is somewhat misleading. Economically, maybe, but culturally it is.

      +Lane Thornton one reason for Filipinos "not caring" about the atrocities that Americans (or even knowing the atrocities that fellow Filipinos did on Americans and Filipino sympathizers) was because it was prohibited in education and social discourse during the Commonwealth period. After the country gained independence after WWII, many of our social and civic structures were carry-overs from the American period, including the lack of awareness about this period in history. Add to that the manipulative power of mass media and those who own it, and you've got a population fooled for generations. And the "loving" relationship of Filipinos to America is only because of economic reasons.
