@Megalomaniac2005 I've been a huge NMA fan since 1987 which is why we covered it. if you don't think we put our own twist on it, I'm not sure what to say to that, since I've never heard that from anyone before. I simply took what I felt was a great song and did it in the style of ANACRUSIS to hopefully turn some of our fans on to NMA (which we did).
Hey ken, I’ve been a fan since 1988 when I first heard the song frigid bitch from suffering hour. All the way In West Virginia. I forget how the album made it my way but I think I picked it up from a record store and I think some guy might have turned it in because he was hoping for it to be a glam record lol
I love Manic Impressions, bought it from an ex-bandmate back in 1993... Then some guys I knew who had a thrash/death band were like completely obsessed with Anacrusis, tried so hard to get my copy at any co$t, didn't happen, though I ordered Screams and Whispers for them through a small distro. we had back in those days (when even some radio commercial music was decent)... Great music, thanks for the art!
1st discovered Anacrusis myself listening to a local college radio station a little over 8 years ago when they busted out "Sound the Alarm", immediately went on the search for every release. As a fan of every type of rock & metal subgenre out there, whenever ANYONE asks me which band could be considered underappreciated, I immediately point them into the direction of Anacrusis. Truly a fan, they don't make bands like that anymore. Often imitated, NEVER duplicated.
This band were maybe 20 years ahead of where they would have got more attention.Kens vocals are fkn awesome.I feel like i was the only person knowing good bands in the late 80's-90'sin the U.K.Dokken,running wild, anacrusis, atomkraft, overkill, sodom while everyone else was listening to def leppard, metallica and motley crue.Alas I paint a picture.Suffering hour is still in my vinyl collection.
This is so much better than Sepulturas attempt at "The Hunt"! Love this version, you´ve put your own sound and twist into it. I have loved NMA since I was 16 (for 32 years...damn, time flies), so I´m picky about bands covering NMA, haha. And I´ve also been a fan of ANACRUSIS for a long time! This was a great thing when two of my favourite bands collided! :)❤
I love your version, and I heard NMA through you, and turned me into a fan. I think Anacrusis is an underrated metal band. Manic Impressions is one of my favorite album, I think I was still in high school when I listened to it. greetings from Jakarta, Indonesia. \m/
It took a big set of balls to record this kind of cover in 1991 when Death Metal was on the rise! My respect goes to one of the most honest Metal bands ever..Anacrusis.
This song is truly what I think when I think progressuve metal . Got everything and into my head .. I have to rush to the store buy these guys, found them on german radio Rock Antenne
Anacrusis should have never broke up!! I only wish I had the chance to see them live. I guess I missed out. HEY KEN I'D LOVE TO WRITE SOME MUSIC WITH YOU!!!! GIVE ME A SHOUT AND WE'LL GET STARTED!!!!
These guys were so lost in the fray just because they put so much effort into being different from all the other metal acts that were out there. I just wish they'd gotten the credit they deserved when they should have. Everybody loves them now, and it's too late.
Hi Ken! Just to let you know, you have fans in Singapore! :) "Screams..." would be my personal favourite, followed by "Manic Impressions"! Saw a video of your reunion concert, and I have to say you guys still rock the casbah! P.S. I know a guy from St. Louis who is living here at the moment who is fan of you guys since the 80's!
so under-rated, but you must know that people still love you... anacrusis has captured a small piece of immortality... it's more than most can hope for.
This song is so contagious! is in my head for several weeks! never heard of Anacrusis before, even when I have more than 15 years listening to metal/rock.
I think it was this and "Terrified" that really got me hooked into the band. I followed up with the debut, and got Screams when it came out. I am so glad they are back with new material, it's been FAR too long, and this is the band to show folks what REALLY GOOD metal is supposed be sound like.
Excited to see people from the group still backing up their awesome music. This cover stunned me when I first heard it, and now I love NMA, too. Anacrusis is amazing and their swansong Screams and Whispers still stands as one of the all time greats. SOUND THE ALARM!
@SamiPhiladelphia Thanks. We didn't write it...its a New Model Army cover (if you didn't already know). I agree its a fantastic song though and I'm glad you like our version.
Big up to that Cheffboy chap, who I assume is something to do with the band. I've never heard of Anacrusis, but was just on here to lift the NMA version to express my feelings about today's mosque bombing in Afghanistan, and found lots of internet kids arguing about how much better this version is. Obviously it was never gonna be, but I quite like it, and he's very honest in giving credit where its due. It's a decent cover with some nice double-time guitar. Well done everyone.
this is an awesome cover. really highlights how good the original is too. Is there any way to find out what tuning this is done in? or some tab for it somewhere? I have a terrible ear for figuring things out.....
Maybe after we get people like Lasf in here and kick you and your low IQ brethren out of here. Fuck off with your racist, inbred bullshit. Thank god you're a dying breed.
To me, this is what represents a great cover, a thorough reinterpretation of the original sound within the band's scope, and not some other band playing the same song. For the record, I really didn't care for the NMA version. Also for the record, I'm thoroughly psyched that people are still into this track!!!
An excellent cover with appropriate lyrics to fit in perfectly with Anacrusis. In my opinion they are one of the most terribly underrated and "before their time" bands ever. Glad to see this stuff is still turning heads
I grew up a metal head, discovered at some young point of my life, that there was other music out there. New Model Army, for one. This kills me, how fucking great it is! You're not alone, friend.
never heard of this band before but i have to admit that their sound is fascinating. this song in particular is already one that i like. too bad that i've heard of them so late. great band indeed.
I still love this stuff... Anacrusis ? damn, what can you say. Ken, your vox were so unique, kind of screamy but the range made it so memorable, the lower range with echo and then the higher parts... damn, it just worked for those of us who paid attention, thanks.
Anacrusis means memories for me, remember when I bought this album a long time ago. Had never heard them at that time but I liked it right away. At this time everybody I knewed listen to Deicide, Danzig, Slayer and more, But I wanted to hear more "unknown" band so I bought records that I thought were cool, and in these case I didn`t regret it...
I'd highly recommend the video for Division (Anacrusis, Screams and Whispers) by Voltronsky, an intriguing interpretation of a brilliant example of Anacrusis' versatility, and the talent of Paul Miles.
Cheffboy...please reload this video...it stops at 1.02. By the way...saw you guys at Mississippi Nights way back when.....hell of a show. Thanks ANACRUSIS!!! I love this song as much as I love the world.
yep but Im still love them, and lots of friends of mine too, even if now we listen to dream theater or todie for even coldplay :) anacrrusis is anacrusis, as a musician and songwritter I respect them and still njoy their songs.
@cheffboy I'm a huge NMA fan, and I bought the album because I saw the cover in the tracklisting. I think you guys did a great job. Original is best, of course. :-P BTW: I then went on to hunt down your other stuff... :-)
is that official video? never heard of it! :) Btw, great band, one of most underrated in history. To this day i wonder which LP is better: Screams or Manic ;) PS. holy shit! this is Ken Nardi profile i presume! Looking forward to see you guys at Keep It True festival!!! :) Cheers from Poland :)
Listen again. The phrasing is just a bit different, but that is exactly what I am singing. Justin puts the emphasis on "BUILDings" and I moved it to "buildings TOPPle..." so I could puctuate the word "dust". :-) Trust me, as a fan of NMA since 1987, I am more than familiar with the lyrics.
I remember at one of their shows, the dude standing in front of me dropped his t shirt on the floor so yeah, I picked it up and he never knew. lol. He was looking all over the club.
@Megalomaniac2005 - Think you're being a little unfair... It's not exactly to my my taste but it's a good cover that doesn't rip the balls of the song as so many CV's do... NMA are a great band so in a way it's good that a set of people who prob have never heard of them get to know them through this cover. (and as the posts show Anacrusis are generous with their respect - all credit to themselves)
Manic Impressions was a work of genius... it still is.
@Megalomaniac2005 I've been a huge NMA fan since 1987 which is why we covered it. if you don't think we put our own twist on it, I'm not sure what to say to that, since I've never heard that from anyone before. I am one of the victims, thank you for opening my eyes.
sorry I am late to the party but this cover is what turned me on to you guys in the first place.
Hey ken, I’ve been a fan since 1988 when I first heard the song frigid bitch from suffering hour. All the way In West Virginia. Anacrusis is is still one of my favorite bands ever. Lyrically and vocally, you were in a class all your own.
"Manic Impressions"... probably the darkest and most haunting thrash album ever! I love it!
1st discovered Anacrusis myself listening to a local college radio station a little over 8 years ago when they busted out "Sound the Alarm", immediately went on the search for every release. Truly a fan, they don't make bands like that anymore. Often imitated, NEVER duplicated.
FANTASTIC cover. I, along with so many others, am astonished how you guys never made it big. You were/are so unique, talented, and original.
This is still utter awesomness \m/
You guys NEVER got the recognition you deserved. "Manic Impressions" is still an underrated gem. Thanks for posting all these amazing videos.
I am emotionally attached to this song
Excellent cover! VERY well done.
This is so much better than Sepulturas attempt at "The Hunt"! Love this version, you´ve put your own sound and twist into it. I'm Male 53. I bought this by artwork and song titles. In the day one had to go on what u think you may like. I loved it.
so under-rated, but you must know that people still love you... anacrusis has captured a small piece of immortality... it's more than most can hope for.
You guys were ahead of your time. And always thought it was cool you guys recorded in Wisconsin being from Wisconsin myself. ;)
KSHE95 Monday Night Metal on Tuesday night. That's where I first heard Anacrusis!!!
This song is so contagious! is in my head for several weeks! never heard of Anacrusis before, even when I have more than 15 years listening to metal/rock.

I think it's a great cover, and it deffinitely has a new twist. Proud to own this and one other album on vynil. Also; I'm a huge NMA fan, too.
oh holy shit... this brings back a few memories at Mississippi Nights.
Excited to see people from the group still backing up their awesome music. This cover stunned me when I first heard it, and now I love NMA, too. Anacrusis is amazing and their swansong Screams and Whispers still stands as one of the all time greats. SOUND THE ALARM!

Merda
I Heard this song on "Rockantenne", a Internet-Radio. Man this Song really rock! Good work!
I saw these guys open for Overkill in 90/91. They kicked major ass...they were/are highly underrated.
To me, this is what represents a great cover, a thorough reinterpretation of the original sound within the band's scope, and not some other band playing the same song. For the record, I really didn't care for the NMA version. Also for the record, I'm thoroughly psyched that people are still into this track!!!
excellent version of an excellent song
Wow amazing! One of my favorite metal songs, I love how Ken Nardi's vocals go from gruff to smooth :) Sends chills down my spine.
An excellent cover with appropriate lyrics to fit in perfectly with Anacrusis. In my opinion they are one of the most terribly underrated and "before their time" bands ever. Glad to see this stuff is still turning heads
Good version of NMA perfect song. Nice interpretation. Cheers!
@cheffboy absolutely great song ,i love anacrusis ...please guys do another lp.
Great song and great version. Actually I heard this one first and then I became fan from Anacrusis and New Model Army.
As a metalhead that has always had a soft spot for New Model Army, the fact that I hadn't known about this cover previously makes me feel stupid :|
I grew up a metal head, discovered at some young point of my life, that there was other music out there.
New Model Army, for one.
This kills me, how fucking great it is!
You're not alone, friend.
I legit didn’t know this was a cover
I never knew this was a cover!
Sepultura covered NMA's The Hunt on Chaos AD

great cover.
these guys were way ahead of their time when this album came out
never heard of this band before but i have to admit that their sound is fascinating. this song in particular is already one that i like. too bad that i've heard of them so late. great band indeed.
This song makes me so happy.
UNDERRATED BAND, BUT IS GREAT!!!
I love the chorus of this song!
I still love this stuff... Anacrusis ? damn, what can you say. Ken, your vox were so unique, kind of screamy but the range made it so memorable, the lower range with echo and then the higher parts... damn, it just worked for those of us who paid attention, thanks.
The most under-rated band EVER!!!....seen 'em live and they BLEW MY FUCKIN' MIND!!!
Anacrusis is playing a reunion show in St. Louis, on April 18, 2010.
~ December 7, 2019, AD @ St. Louis, Mo ~
I'd highly recommend the video for Division (Anacrusis, Screams and Whispers) by Voltronsky, an intriguing interpretation of a brilliant example of Anacrusis' versatility, and the talent of Paul Miles.
my fav band ever!!!
@cheffboy Your (Anacrusis) version is bad ass! Loved it the first time I heard it.
I love this song! I love this song! I love this song! I love this song! I Looooooooooove this song!!
love this band from the very first time I heard them
Cheffboy...please reload this video...it stops at 1.02. By the way...saw you guys at Mississippi Nights way back when.....hell of a show. Thanks ANACRUSIS!!! I love this song as much as I love the world.
In fact you did, I just bought "Thunder and Consolation" ;-)
Looking forward to your new album!
Still rocks today!!
yep but Im still love them, and lots of friends of mine too, even if now we listen to dream theater or todie for even coldplay :) anacrrusis is anacrusis, as a musician and songwritter I respect them and still njoy their songs.
@cheffboy
You sure did - at least for me. I heard of NMA thru your cover.
Your version is great and very 'Anacrusis' :)
Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. [ 1 John 2:15].
Wtf?
Post the lyrics to this song, they're spectacular.
@cheffboy I'm a huge NMA fan, and I bought the album because I saw the cover in the tracklisting. I think you guys did a great job. Original is best, of course. :-P BTW: I then went on to hunt down your other stuff... :-)
Ken, you were right, I revise my opinion, you have to play I love the world at KIT!!! ;)
P.S: The re-mixed version has turned out ver ywell!)
Best song in the world, get it because it's I love the world?
Need a comeback tour :)
is that official video? never heard of it! :)
Btw, great band, one of most underrated in history. To this day i wonder which LP is better: Screams or Manic ;)
PS. holy shit! this is Ken Nardi profile i presume! Looking forward to see you guys at Keep It True festival!!! :) Cheers from Poland :)
Some of my favorite lyrics, besides Left Hand Path by Entombed.
Masterpiece
yes and thanks. :-)
I
I love this song, i love this song, i love the song (8)
i like the way you combine metal with feelings it is so rare...
come to israel
Good job on this. I'm very picky about covers, but this sounds dope.
To be honest, I can't decide whether I like this version or the New Model Army one.
I still love this song, although it's from 1991. I think Anacrusis is a great band.
This is the ultimate anticiv tune. The perfect soundtrack if you read Derrick Jensens masterpiece "Endgame" or something like that.
yes
I remember at one of their shows, the dude standing in front of me dropped his t shirt on the floor so yeah, I picked it up and he never knew. lol. He was looking all over the club.
They have nothing after Screams And Whispers. But they have two albums before Manic Impressions.
Saint Gerard Park, Bridgeton Missouri, still representing. You guys still fukn rule.
Я и не знал что это кавер! Классно сделали на готику похоже!
Dosen't sound too thrashy. Still great song, refreshing, as usual from you guys.
@Megalomaniac2005 - Think you're being a little unfair... It's not exactly to my my taste but it's a good cover that doesn't rip the balls of the song as so many CV's do...
