    At least one excerpt of the Heptameron is mentioned in Reginald Scot's The Discoverie of Witchcraft, especially in the said "grimoire section", anonymously added to chapter XV in the 3rd edition, published in 1665. Even the 1st edition (1584) shows some possible influence by having a reproduction of the names and seals of the planetary angels. Considering that Dr Dee drew inspiration from the Heptameron, it seems right to say that the book has elusively paved the way for the development of esotericism in Britain at least until the XIX century.

    I never heard of the Heptameron, but now I need it in my collection right next to the keys of Solomon. Angel and "fallen angel" magic has been fascinating to me. Something intrigues me about the kind of will and mind one must have to feel that one can control such powers. Time to grab a copy!

    that concept of the magical circles being a tumbler to a vast cosmological immediately made me think of "Yog-Sothoth is the key and the guardian of the gate. Past, present, future, all are one in Yog-Sothoth. He knows where the Old Ones broke through of old, and where They shall break through again. He knows where They have trod earth's fields, and where They still tread them, and why no one can behold Them as They tread." H.P. Lovecraft. especially enlightening considering that Lovecraft's inspiration for Yog-Sothoth was the Sefirot of Kabbalah.

    You're comparison between demons and magnetism is apt. Indeed they are as physical and predictable as magnetism. It's just that the equations which define the actions of demons are far more complicated than that of base magnetism, which makes me think that the physics of 10,000 AD might look more like Solomonic magic than contemporary physics. That being said, I avoid interacting with these entities for all the same reasons that a biologist avoids a Bengal tiger. "He is not a tame lion."

Nobody wants to talk about how she stood up to both of them and asserted herself, and for that she was both banished from Eden and yeah, literally demonised.
    With regard to that, it would also be nice to hear your take on her connexion with the Lillitu of Mesopotamian mythology. And if an episode is not possible, could you recommend some reading material dealing with this topic?

    Thank You for a wonderful presentation. It brought these thoughts to mind.
    Angels or Angles present different vibrations of energy which in turn influences the human psyche. Once we view reality from a perspective of energy, from that “point of view”, alchemy’s transmutation is possible.
    Demons are angles in the consciousness container of human psyche that present low/slow vibrational energy which can cause experiences of shame, guilt, anger, pain, division, greed, pride, etc. the list is long. Because mankind is constantly evolving and awakening unto his true Self, these energetic experiences serve a path of Service to Self...out picturing itself which we can now see and in turn causes the HuMan psyche to contemplate and expand.
    Angels are angles in the consciousness container of the human psyche that generate feelings of brotherhood, peace, joy, creativity, enlightenment, etc....the list is never ending because when HuMan awakens to this He Is emPowered on a path of Selfless Service; this occurs when man knows reality As himSelf. He then nurtures that He BeHolds in a Frequency vibration of Unconditional Love or Neutrality in the Zero Point Field of Balance found between the polarities. In doing so, the Alchemist is transmuting demons within himself so to generate a clean slate for a newly birthed consciousness container.
    Are there those summoning demons? To Know thy Self is to relieve oneself from fear of angels and to beckon through different space, awareness and transmutation of false confining structures I/We ignorantly entertained. 😉

      @@wesallstar9273 That does make some sense.
      One thing that comes to mind when thinking about it some, is the islamic idea of the Djinn who are "Beings of fire" as we are "Beings of Clay".
      The stories I've read explained it this way (and please let me know if I"m wrong)
      Umm, sources I've read: Koraan, 1001 Nights (Richard Burton translation), and read a few books written by people who spoke on the subject (some were quacks, but those are always a fun read!)
      Basically my understanding why the golum works is that it's a proto-adam, since that's how God made humans.
      The Djinn are also beings who were made wtih souls, and the power of creation, but were not given the gift of imagination and foresight.
      Mankind was given the gift if imagination and thinking about the future, but takes longer to bring them to fruition, because he has to use his hands to create.
      Someone said, if you ever met a Djinn, be carefull of what you talk about, because if you spark their imagination, and their mind wanders, bad things can appear.
      So, back to Frequency, these beings of fire seems like another type of demon/spirit/creature that matches other descriptions of things that have been summoned.
      If they are a "being of fire" or plasma entity, controling them by a frequency does make sense, (as does their and fey creatures issues with Iron and Salt).

    Evil Dead... wait. Dr. Sledge, are you a horror fan? Dude, you gotta check out The Boxer's Omen, if you haven't already seen it. The visuals, despite the low budget, are completely insane. But even more interesting is that a lot of the depictions of black magic and buddhist rituals are supposed to be a bit more rooted in real tradition and folklore than what you'd normally expect.

    It’s interesting how some strands of Feng Shui also considered heavenly bodies to have personhood and direct power over earthly fortunes. For example, the yearly Tai Sui (太岁, often translated as “Grand Duke”) is whatever star is opposite Jupiter as it goes through its orbital cycle, and some animal signs are particularly “offensive” to whichever Tai Sui reigns in a given year and thus must be propitiated.

    #angelicproletariatunite I am here for it! I just began a more earnest study of the Heptameron thanks to that esoteric archives site. Maybe there are far worse rabbit holes to get stuck in than studying Medieval necromancy rituals and getting real with the angelfolk. Still, it's not exactly the kind of subject matter one can bring up in mixed company.

    For some reason your talk reminds me of two novels about magicians by SF writer James Blish, Black Easter and The Day After Judgment. Part of a tetralogy he called After Such Knowledge (the other two being Doctor Mirabilis - about Roger Bacon - and A Case of Conscience, about a Jesuit priest-scientist finding a planet that may be a demonic illusion). I have heard that Blish consulted books of magic while writing it. Have you read them? If so, what do you think of Blish’s take on them? Might we worth discussing it in a Halloween show…And good news. The Blish novels aren’t published by Brill!

    I love the new perspectives that this channel has given me on epistemology, what would it be a good definition of "supernatural" for a debate that I've been having with a mystical-minded person that believes in this type of stuff?
    At this point we just happened to come across the analytic-synthetic distinction and the question of epistemology as a priori foundational or not.
    He probably doesn't have that much foundations, neither do I really, certainly more than him.

      "Supernatural", usually means "Beyond Nature", but could also mean the exceptionally Natural, as with "Superhuman" which means the exceptional, not beyond human.

      @@88_garnet8 Dude it's just an archive, calm down. The Church was also the central force pushing forward learning and knowledge in medieval Europe for the better part of a millennium, if they were trying to hold humanity back from evolution and happiness, they did a terrible job of it. Also if humanity was so terribly held back by the Catholic Church, is that meant to imply that non-Catholic/European cultures were accomplishing nothing at the time by coincidence, or by incompetence?

    • @LoudWaffle
      @LoudWaffle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@88_garnet8 Taking the blind pro-Pagan side of a pointless debate is just as bad as the countless Christians who take the blind anti-Pagan side in this debate. I wasn't saying pre-Christian Europe or even non-Christian Medieval Europeans weren't capable of sophistication, innovation, and intelligence, I was responding to what sounded like a perpetuation of the myth that the Medieval Church stifled learning, science, etc., in Europe. Also, nobody is praising them for raising humanity up, this channel is about the academic study of religions, so such nonsensical team cheering just doesn't really have its place here, imo.

    • @LoudWaffle
      @LoudWaffle 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@88_garnet8 You're arguing against a misinterpretation of what I'm saying and thus getting into the aforementioned pointless debate with a strawman. My final clarification: history and religion are extremely nuanced, and it does nobody a service to view it in black-and-white terms. The way I see it, you came in and implied that the Vatican maliciously withheld information from the masses - then when I pushed back on this you started ranting about how great pagans are. I'm sorry if that's not what you intended to say, but it's really how it comes across and you've only doubled down on that stance.
