Shipdock was probably the only department at Amazon that seemed like a normal warehouse environment. It wasn't fun, but you just stayed busy and people leave you alone, whatever. The jobs like pick, stow and count - the ones where you're alone doing repetitive robot work at a high speed all shift were much worse. Management up everyone's butt about rate and bathroom breaks. Extremely depressing, physically and mentally deteriorating situation.

This is so true. Shipdock is the only place I tolerate. When I’m in pick I am constantly bored and feel like a robot

I was so confused when they gave me shipdock, but I've done the pallet stacking before, and I like the looks of what you're doing. They told me there will be a *LOT* of walking the warehouse, but I could stand to lose another 40 pounds lol! Trying to stay positive. Thank you 🙏 I really appreciate your explanation and for taking some of the anxiety off me.

You don’t see many videos on shipdock. In my opinion it’s the best area to be in. You have so much more freedom. I work in shipping in an FC in the UK. What we use to stack packages in is cardboard Gaylords, or ATS carts. We don’t wrap pallets anymore. Although most of our packages are sorted automatically into gaylords from the shipping sorter, and we just change them out when they’re full.

What do they call the position that loads and unloads the trailers? I was thinking that was ship dock. In the sort center the position in this video is container building. I currently do cross dock and TDR in a sort center and am looking to go full time at a fulfillment center.

I worked for Amazon in Apopka for a few months. I did picking, stowing, staging, water 🕷 spider, trailer load & unloader. I hated that job. One of the worst jobs I ever had in my 26yrs of working. I literally felt like a slave. Can't even tell you which was the worst part. (Maybe stowing) No matter where they put u, the meteor storm nightmare of packages was always OVERWHELMING. So many overpack gay lords and crates In the ship dock area you can't even see anybody. All u see is packages in every direction u turn...🤦🏽‍♂️ and the pay was hello my name is..💩 15.50/hr but hey really enjoyed your vid. Very good clarity, quality & audio. Very informative, helpful & attention grabbing. Great content! & great job at producing it.

I am currently working at Amazon AUS2 in Pflugerville TX USA; I am very interested in working in outbound ship dock versus stowing/picking/packing/receiving. I like to walk or have mobility around the warehouse. Also I strongly preferred jobs that DOES NOT have to do with metric rates or being labor-tracked. Like any waterspider duties, non-inventory, or hazmat waste sortation.

Why are boxes being placed in the blue wire cage? Thanks for posting. I would like to see a video of you packing. From what I saw today you were steadily working but not rushing. All that I hear about the packing station is rush, rush, rush.

Hey and thank you. I don’t know why boxes are being wrapped in bags. All of those things come from pack but even when I was in pack they never told me to put a box in a bag. People do what they want at that some a lot. Boxed get placed in the cage to go to other filament center to be delivered. That’s just a way that we transport them. I will definitely try to make a video like that but stations like that have more being and I don’t want to get anyone on camera while trying to help other

They go to other Amazon facilities like sort centers and delivery stations where they get sorted out for delivery to specific areas. Fulfillment centers usually cover orders going out to potentially many areas. Delivery stations start to get more specialized to where the items will go to like within a city/neighborhoods.

Boxes are wrapped in plastic when put on a pallet to keep them from falling over, since the built pallet of boxes are moved around a lot from trailer to trailer, to different amazon centers before being delivered to the customers by the drivers. As for the blue wire cage, its usually reserved for smaller boxes? I assume, since there are different processes for x package going x. Ik this is 9 months old but thought I'd reply.

Correction @ 4:05 the blue / grey cages are *NOT* called "Gaylords." They are called "Go Carts." Gaylords are the big cardboard box that sits on a pallet that you can put packages in. You cut a "U" shape into to unload/load. Sadly Amazon is trying to get rid of these universal shipping containers aka Gaylords/ pallets in favor for these "Go Carts." These Go carts are only used in the AMZL ( Amazon Logistics) & sort network. UPS & other carriers does not accept this shipping container method for a few reasons. A. The Go Carts are EXTREAMLY dangerous, B. These Go Carts are owned and made by Amazon and aren't Universal, C. They have to be sent back to a Amazon Sort center. That is why they are only used in Amazon's own delivery service (AMZL). Supposedly they are there to save money & to make it seem like the company is going green. But once these carts brake they aren't fixable and get thrown away. Plastic & metal doesn't go well with the the environment so I'm not sure why they are using these Go Carts. They can only be used so many times before it brakes down and are rendered useless. But hey, what do I know? I just work with these at Amazon daily and see them brake and get sent to the garbage afterwards. They suck and they need to go back to using Gaylords/ pallets. At least those are recyclable, cost less, & have a less impacted on the environment. Go Carts are $500 per cart as Gaylords are $12 per Gaylord. Who ever came up with these Go Carts should be fired and be put into jail for not thinking this through. Sorry for the rant but I had to correct you so those who don't work at Amazon know, and can help change this. These Go Carts are new and only been around for the last year so the more people that are aware of this awful invention, the sooner we can get rid of them.

Recently, they made me sort. It’s hard to move at their standards due to my movement speed(compared to young people) and my eyes that are getting bad. That’s why I’m thinking about transferring to finding someplace else to work at.
