- Today I venture to Swanage on a cold winters morning for a seaside stroll, and need some sustenance.
Can the award winning Italian Bakery provide me the breakfast I am craving?
I order Shakshuka, a sausage sandwich and a tea cake!

Good morning folks - hope you're having a great weekend! Who fancies a nice relaxing breakfast on a Sunday morning??
Let me know what you would order from the breakfast menu here - also, have you got any great artisan bakeries that you use?
Looks awesome.
😂Good Morning Greeno sounds nice ❤❤❤
@@gtech66 It really was good - just what I needed on a chilly morning!!
I love shakshuka.
Hi Greeno! Had me hooked from the word "Bakery". What a fantastic review. Personally, one of my favourite things is to visit a great local cafe for brunch, which offers excellent food & coffee. If I was living locally, this place would be on my list hands down.
Your food looked fantastic & very tasty. I give you alot of credit for your filming too. You almost always sit inside, so viewers get a proper feel for the establishment. When things are getting busier, you maintain being discreet & cautious not to bother people, but still keep the filming smooth & with a good look at the different dishes as well. 👍
Take care & see you next time. 😊
That's very kind Erin, thank you! I do try to sit inside where possible - it's only really if it's summer time and I would sit outside anyway, or if the music is simply too loud to film that I take the outside option :-) I appreciate the kind words about the videos !!
That was a lovely breakfast, it’s interesting how so many cultures put eggs, and tomatoes together,Mexicans have Huevo Mexicano, scrambled eggs full of sliced tomato’s, onions, and jalapeños. It was 6:30 am NY time as I watched, and I was eating egg salad on toasted sour dough bread, topped with Everything but the Bagel Seasoning. A lot of egg complains, that egg was perfect for me. Have a nice rest of your Sunday.😊
Hi Janet - yes I think eggs with some kind of saucy tomato base make a great start to the day, well balanced and tasty! Sounds like you're having a great start to your day - hopefully to continue right through the day!!
Even the British if you think of the full English served with either grilled tomatoes or plum tomatoes 😂
@@Sharon46T Yes indeed, I wanted to say that, but didn’t want the post to be too long.
Never had jam on tea cake ….usually leave until I have a scone 💪
That looked yummy! What a beautiful area for breakfast! I have made a large Shakshuka and i use garbanzo beans and red chili flakes to give it a kick.
Sounds delicious!
Made the mistake again of watching this while hungry lol. That looked mouthwatering, wow.
Sorry about that 🤣🤣🤣
Another lovely video today Greeno❤
Thank you 🙂
Merry Christmas Greeno. The menu looks great ❤
Is Christmas coming? If only shops and adverts could have mentioned it 🤣🤣🤣
You made the right decision. I was very impressed ... Another excellent breakfast review.
Thanks Mark - your kind words are much appreciated!!
Oh wow, that all looked stunning..Top quality produce always shines through...
I wonder why there are so many truly amazing bakeries in the Wareham & Swanage area's? ..Your a very lucky boy indeed..
BTW ,Sunday lunch at Blacklock was just sublime.😊
Yes, this was great (although I bet your Sunday lunch was better!!)
A local establishment is always going to be better than a national chain. Local places try hard to please its customers to stay in business. A national chain will close a few stores here and there and continue to provide crappy food and service.
That's very true - and the quality here shone through - the baked products were out of this world - I am a bread lover.
You should try Burnt Toast (also in Swanage) they have several different breakfast/brunch options too.
Burnt Toast is on my list of places to get to :-)
The simple things in life are always the best! ❤ nice video Greeno
Yep - no need to overcomplicate things - a simple sausage butty with great bread and quality sausages - delicious!!
That shakshuka looked lovely!! I am so glad I make myself some breakfast whilst watching these on a Sunday morning! Great video Greeno, enjoy your Sunday sir ….Smithy
Cheers Smithy - hope you have recovered from teh disappointment of yesterday - I should have made my way up to Wolves shouldn't I!!
@ yeah it wasn’t our day but it wasn’t a 4 nil score line either. We gifted them 2 of there goals. At least you beat that lot though (I won’t be rude on the channel! 😂) yes you should of come up…. Kluivert doing something yesterday his old man never did.
Morning Greeno, so glad you find a winner for quality baked goods and breakfast in the Italian Bakery. 👍👍👍👍👍
Love your respect for people's privacy.♥️
I think a life without good bread would be a much sadder life!!
I love Swanage. I spent six months working in the Grosvenor Hotel (now sadly gone) way back in 1974. Great memories.
It's a seaside town stick in a bit of a time warp, but in a good way - nice little teashops, quirky little shops and colourful beach huts :-)
@@GreenoEats It was my aunt’s favourite seaside resort. She lived in Wiltshire and had memories of going to Swanage in a charabanc.😊
Oooh, that looks super nice. There's nothing better than a good breakfast to kick-start your day!
Yes, mad a nice change from eating a full English when out too!!
Another great review Greeno, good one this, the place looked really lovely. That tea cake looked delicious, nice sausage sandwiche, and the satsiki, looked very warm and comforting. Looks like this was a real treat greeno, would love to try this place one day.
If you are ever in the area it's worth trying that's for sure :-) Delicious!
No complaints on the layout and variety there. I would love a CALZONE anytime anyday washed down with some Chianti
Absolutely - some nice items - and the quality of the baked products was outstanding!
It looks yummy the tea cake ❤
Probably the best tea cake I ever had
I make shakshuka as a light dinner dish. We love it and as we have our own hens, it's a great way to use some of their beautiful eggs. And believe me, the yolks are orange! Looks like a great breakfast. The part I envy - the tea cake. No-one makes them here and sadly my hands aren't up to making bread products now, so I can't even do them myself! Never mind - you enjoyed that one for me!
Keeping your own hens means you get the very freshest eggs, I am jealous! Shakshuka is such a tasty dish, as you say it's light, yet comforting, yum!!
@GreenoEats We collected 7 eggs today and one weighs 132g!! A double or triple yolķer!
@@lizg5574 Blimey - poor hen haha!!
That's an interesting looking stew❤
Yes, quite attractive looking, I like the funky bowl with the handle it was served in.
quality all round greeno liked the look of everything looked like a lovely place inside as well : )
Yes, very nice, so tempting sat looking at all the lovely baked products in the shop part too!!
@@GreenoEats yeah mate im sat here eating cakes as we speak : )
Great idea greeno its always good to support the small guys .that looked amazing and cheap too ❤❤😊😊
Yes, I love it when I find an independent business knocking out real quality - hopefully the review helps send a few more folk in their direction, although jusdging by how busy they always seem to be I'm not sure they need it!!
Wow that's a cocktail of delicious food greeno ,glad ya finally got to nosh there, 10/10 hands down ,thanks for sharing the video
It was a cracker Dave - glad you enjoyed the video!!
Nice video Greeno, looked a nice little town…your food looked very heart warming mmmmm 👌👌😋😋
Yes - Swanage is like a little time capsule of what seaside towns used to be - it's nice to visit. Great breakfast to, just what I needed to fuel my wintery seaside stroll!
Great review of a local bakery. Respect for others is a credit to you.
Thanks, I appreciate that!!
That looked lovely Greeno a great find 😀
It certainly was Debbie!!
Just what we needed on lazy sunday😂
Thanks :-)
Those doughnuts and cakes looked spectacular!! Lovely brekkie too. Nice find there Greeno!!
Yes Chris - a really good place to enjoy a breakfast - hard not to be tempted by all of the yummy baked goodness on display too!
Lovely choice of Italian style breakfast in a very calming atmosphere. So much better going for small independent businesses. It seemed to relax you well and I imagine your day was enriched by that chilled start and incredible flavours. Thank you for a video that calmed me for a day of moving furniture around at my house so it is more organised for Christmas. My fingers are still crossed for you getting the 20k.
You will be interested that I met a man in a pub yesterday who was a senior social media consultant and we discussed trigger words that the YT algo seems to love and he agreed with my research that the words breakfast, chippie and burger are ultra potent. So, you doing that breakfast should supercharge you towards your 20k target. ❤
It was a lovely breakfast - simple things done well. And the bakery shelves were rammed full of delicious looking breads and cakes - I could have spent a fortune there!
Interesting info from your social media consultant encounter - I guess those are likely to be some widely searched terms!
Sounds very tasty. Hope to get there on our next trip to the UK. Great Video as always. All the best mate 👍👍 Jim and Harriet
Thank you both - wishing you a great week ahead!
Beautiful looking establishment. I could live on sourdough bread alone.
Sourdough is amazing isn’t it!
Great vid Greeno, Oh that food looked lovely...
Thank you - it certainly set me up for my stroll !
Agreed -shakahuka is delicious - however, I find that it’s often poorly prepared in UK so not always as enjoyable as it should
be. So great to see such a a good one here!
Yes, a really good depth of flavour to this one!
Your right Greeno it was spot on ' good nosh by the sea at Swanage 🐸
A really good breakfast, and a bracing stroll!
sandwitch looked yummy❤
the Italian looks yummy too
It was very tasty from start to finish!
@@GreenoEats 💞💞💞
You did right to forgive them the egg! It did linger on the table a few minutes in a hot container just out of the oven, full of very liquidy stuff that holds and transmits cooking. Not saying it wasn't a bit over when it hit the table - that's pretty likely. But it probably did continue to cook for a little bit after it arrived ...
You made the fair choice. I'm glad you had such a delicious meal.
Yes absolutely right, I should have eaten that dish first!
I love to cook shakshuka fantastic dish ❤😋😋😋😋.
The secret i think to super eggs is place a lid on the top just to get the yolks right .
Yes, it could have done with a minute or two less - but better to be overdone than underdone I think!
Hi greeno another great vid mate. I would have never tried a breakfast like that but will definitely give it a try if it's sufficient I can always blame you 😉. Top man
Sometimes it's nice to have a little bit of a lighter breakfast - of course with the tomatoes and veggies in the sauce it's a healthier start to the day than a full Englsih too!
Love the energy
Thanks Simon!
Lovely early morning surprise
Can't beat a bit of a breakfast treat on a Sunday!!
Definitely need some 'That is a really meaty sausage' merch 😮
Haha !!
Nice touch changing the camera angle btw
Though it was only fair !
Love making a big pan of shakshuka or menemen to share when friends come to visit. As you say for something simple it tastes delicious! Have a great Sunday Greeno!
Yes, a nice sharing dish I imagine Will - I hope you are enjoying the day too!!
Good morning greeno, have a great week ahead mate
Thanks, I wish you a great week too!
Good morning Greeno. It all looked so fabulous. Me thinks, your eggs though, were still cooking in that hot stew, while you were eating part of your 5’’ tea cake, and your sausage sandwich... x
I think you are probably right Maria!
Everything looks so delishious 😊 Happy sunday, Greeno and Greenos ❤ I am baking an apple cake at the moment with lots of cinnamon 😂😂😂😂 Fireplace is on, so cozy today 😊 Living so close to the sea must be a dream ❤
A fireplace, an apple cake and a warming drink perhaps sounds perfect Jessi (minus the cinnamon of course!) - Living near to the sea is wonderful - and I much prefer it outside of summer time.
@@jessicanippes1730 sounds lovely Jessi! Have a lovely afternoon 😊
@theabandonedhunter3604 thanks Smithy, wish you a fab evening 😊
@ you too Jessi!
Yes looks great! 🥖
It was delicious!
Yaaay it's Greeno ❤!
It is indeed!
HI Greeno What a fantastic breakfast you had everything looked great.
You can always tell if a place is good when you see the place getting very busy.
Mark 5/5.
Thank you for sharing
Yes, the amount of customers tells you if something is decent doesn't it!
I love Dorset 😃 Lived in Lulworth in the early 70s (when Bournemouth was in Hampshire & Poole was a separate entity 😃)
That looks a smart eatery, Greeno
Lulworth is lovely isn’t it!
@GreenoEats We often went back to visit the area (We were only in Bristol). I've walked a good bit of the coastal path there.
That looked delicious if I lived there think I would have my own table
Haha - a season ticket to the bakery!
Hi Greeno. That looked like great grub. You can't beat bread from a good artisan bakery and thar satsuka looked delicious. It's not something I've tried but I'll look out for it in future. Got to be brown sauce with sausages. Excellent review 😊😊
HI Gerwyn - yes good bread from a proper bakery is hard to beat - I don't think I could ever do a low carb diet when such great bread exists!
Looks like a worthy local competitor to the excellent Le Petit Prince in Westbourne and Wimborne. Excellent review and always a pleasure to see Swanage.
Not been in Le Petit Prince - but often walked past it on my way to Jim's Cheesecakes :-)
I was so engrossed in my 'day job' (which I rarely do on a Sunday) I almost forgot about dear Greeno :D. Food looked great and anything will beat Denny's any day :) Time to cook my Sunday offering.
Give me this over Denny's any day of the week David. So what are you cooking up today then?
@@GreenoEats Salmon encrout imported from Iceland :D
@@davidbolton1770 sounds tasty to me !!
After 8 minutes I believed you would give it the green.
It was all pointing that way!
4/10. Great review and lovely place. My only gripe is the Shakshuka egg, by default, should be runny. Unless of course you don't like runny eggs!
And definitely think there should be more butter and jam. The tea cake was massive, and I at least want to taste the butter and jam! 😂
The egg could have been less cooked, but as I mentioned it's so hard to judge when baking an egg (and it may not have been helped by the fact I went for the sandwich first, allowing the egg to keep cooking in the stew.
Can’t you just ask for more butter, and jam, that’s what I do.
@@GreenoEats definitely. But normally they're cooked on the stovetop. Guess they have a different way.
Well that got me salivating , Shakshuka my go to breakfast and yours although you obviously found it very enjoyable wasn't quite there....
Shakshuka should have all the tomato and pepper as a base for the poached eggs to sit on , the eggs should still be runny and you shouldn't have to dig for them.
Next time I'm in Swanage I'd still give them a go , great vlog as always mate 👍
I think the egg may not have been helped by me tackling the sandwich first, so it kept cooking in the stew to be fair.
@@GreenoEats ....traditionally cooked in a cast iron skillet on the stove not in the oven , in a shallow skillet then the eggs don't sink and served in the pan it's cooked in.
Looked to me that yours was oven cooked in a deep bowl and the reason the eggs sank and were overcooked.
I could be wrong of course but that's my suspicion mate , enjoy your Sunday 😄
@@geebee6737 You too 🙂
@@geebee6737As a chef I absolutely agree with you, it makes the presentation better, but makes it harder to control the doneness of the egg.
Love a toasted teacake, lovely breakfast topped it off with a lovely walk along the beach. Great place great video 👍
This was probably the best teacake I ever had, so much better than the ones you get from the supermarket!
That's cracking bread !!!!
It's superb - I love how a bit of skill can elevate suchhumble ingredients into something stunning!
Shakshuka is a wonderful peasant breakfast originating in Tunisia. Became trendy about 10 years ago. Although a simple dish many manage to murder it 😢😊
Town Mill Bakery is worth checking in Lyme Regis. 👍🏾
Town Mill Bakery is on my radar :-)
Still very good but not as good as 12 years ago when it first started. Was way ahead of it’s time 👍🏾😊
not been there for ages but recognised swanage straight away before you mentioned it!!! its hardly changed in 20 years !! Breakfast looked great!
It’s hardly changed in longer than that, it’s pretty much as I remember it as a kid, and that’s a smidge over 20 years ago haha!
Morning Greeno, do you often get asked " can you show me the way to wear 'em😂😂😱 " Joke, out of the way 🤔?? Looks a fabulous place. Clean and bright. Very inviting. The type of establishment needed to revive the knackered shoppers. When did Sourdough start to rule the world?? Anyway onwards. Classic sausage sandwich, so easy to get right but with cheap ingredients just as easy to make it inedible. Teacake, bustin' with dried fruit. Good even cook. And served with hot coffee, a good starter, in an a**e about face way☕🍪 Shaksuka, more a brunch type of dish. And nowt wrong with that. My personall choice is to have a runny yolk. Overall, fair price for a very fair feed. Oh again a personal thing. Don't draw on my coffee. And living in London, West Hampstead in London I'm knee deep in artisan shops, so have a good choice of breads, different pate, and a bigger range of the "HOW MUCH" for a tiny sliver of cheese 🧀🤔😱!!! ". Still nice way to start the day, watching a cold but happy Greeno eating well and until the next video Allan&Family saying drive safe and wrap up warm
Forget about Wareham - at least I am never asked where to go to get your Huddersfield haha! This was a very nice breakfast experience - obviously in a bakery I tried to focus on things involving the baked products, which were excellent. And not crazy Hampstead artisan pricing - and I didn't see a long beard or turned up jeans behind the counter once!
Greeno cracking looking flat white. Re the teacake would be nice if it was decent butter in a ramekin and homemade jam as they're a bakery
Yes, perhaps, although the jam really tasty!
Good value breakfast, I always find that brown sauce overpowers somewhat. Stunning view from the beach. Enjoyable video, thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it Chris - I am lucky to live close to the coast!
Imho the Shakshouka needed to have another egg. The yolks should be runny Grreno. Besides that it did look quality
Yes, possibly not as runny as I like a fried or poached egg to be, but less cooked would have been nice - hard to judge though!
That shakshuka looked delicious, Greeno! Not something I’ve come across before. Nice cafe too.
Very nice cafe - shakshuka is a great breakfast / brunch dish - worth trying to make at home I reckon!!
Fantastic looking food, prices ok. If i lived there, i would go. Quality food, quality video. So very enjoyable.
Yes - worth a visit - glad I managed to get there early enough before it started to fill up!!
Wow. Looked fab. Swanage is lovely too. Brown on sausages. Red on bacon
It was indeed. I do like Swanage, it's like a time capsule of a town!
I'm tasked with cooking an all day brunch as we can't handle a full English roast dinner today, so I'm going to cook something very similar to what you're having there.
Nice - I hope it goes well !!
@@GreenoEats thank you.
looks great, shakshuka is a super dish, it's hard to get a soft egg but not impossible - looked tasty though.
Yes, hard to judge as the size of the egg makes a diiference, and you can't see it as it's cooking!
@@GreenoEats exactly but as you say in a dish like that it's not vital to be runny
Yum I love this breakie. The snag sanga looks delish but you were missing grilled onions and shakshuka YUM! Good choice xx
It was great, made even better by the quality of the baked goods!
I agree Greeno the only downside to that sausage sandwich was the size. Therefore a little expensive imho but clearly quality.
Yes, a bit bigger would have been better, especially as it was so tasty!
I am bloody starving now!
Sorry about that haha!
5 of 5 and looks enjoyable.
It certainly was John!!
@@GreenoEats Thank you and yes it is.
I fully agree and you picked a few unusual items like the stew. Whilst it all looked delicious i would personally just restricted myself to having only the coffee and sausage sandwich with the brown sauce, agree what a breakfast😅
You have greater willpower than I do Geoffrey!
Looks like a lovely cafe.
Yes, very nice, and very popular indeed!
Hi greeno , your food looked absolutely delicious great review thanks
Glad you enjoyed it :-)
It is very difficult to beat food from a good bakery although we do have one bakery chain here in Australia which is usually ok.What you ate looked fine and well worth the visit.Good review again and it's time for my breakfast ( bacon sandwich with wholegrain sourdough).
Definitely worth the visit - glad I managed to get in ! Enjoy your breakfast!!
Nice Thumbnail there Sir,
Best meal of the day a big breakfast
Diolch David ! This was indeed a good breakfast!
Great video greeno, I like brown sauce on most foods x
Glad you enjoyed it Joanne - brown sauce is definitely my breakfast condiment of choice!!
HI look's great yummy good video 👌👌👍👍
Thanks :-)
Thankyou that all looks good, 9/10
Glad you enjoyed the video Carol!
I love Dorset lve had great holidays there and had great food
I am lucky to live here, that's for sure!
Thank you Greeno, looked good, one day get a Teacake, toast it spread on some Marmite and top it with a nice piece of Cheddar. For me with a cup of tea, it is pure Heaven. With that Shakshuka, if they add the egg at the end you can keep a nice soft Yolk, stirred into the stew beautiful!! Regards to the family. Cyprus is cold at 5c at night, normally cold in Jan/Feb can go down to 0C!! But with your English weather you probably think that is warm ha ha. 🤗🤗👍👍🙋♀🙋♀
Shorts and T-shirt weather that Jacqui !!
@@GreenoEats HAHA Greeno
those guys around the corner are definatly making sure the Christmas decorations are not going to fall down...but on another note as always great review and it did look nice ! and price was ok ,I could go with that
It was well worth the visit 🙂
An amazing bakery and café! Their restaurant, The Italian Kitchen in Wareham is pretty good too!
Mrs Greeno has been to the Italian Kitchen with some pals before, but I am yet to go myself!
That was top notch all around. I could eat that bread all day.
Me too, probably why I have the build I do! 🤣
Oh yum, bakeries are my kryptonite. Hot fresh bread? Yes please.
Absolutely - no low carb diets here at Greeno Towers!!
I make a version of that with some minced beef and quite spicy, bit of melting cheese on top. 5 out of 5 for table 5
Sounds good to me that Jason!!
Worth supporting independent local businesses where you can. The brekkie looked lovely. Cheers xx
I will always showcase local independents doing good things - it if helps get a few more bums on seats then that's a win (although this place is so busy much of the time, they may not need more bums on seats!!)
Can't beat good quality bread .
We have a delicatessen in Chorlton Manchester Barbakan won numerous awards amazing bread, bagels cakes.
Have year round outside bbq type set up delicious bratwurst bockwurst ,spicy lamb sausage .
Fried potato onions pickles etc sauces .
Highly recommended
I just had a look online at that Deli - looks very well priced. The BBQ thing seems to just be on a Saturday, which makes it a little more difficult for me to get to - most of the time I can travel around the country is during the week - but you never know!!
Never come across a shakshuka with a baked egg before -- so much better when they're runny -- but those breads and the sausage looked delicious! Certainly a cut up from Denny's!
Give me this ahead of Denny's any day of the week!!
I love sausage sandwiches ❤my dad was always barbecuing sausages in summer ❤
Sometimes the simple things in life are the best!
You've been going to some great places lately ❤
I always try to go to great places, or at least go in hoping they’re gonna be great…. just it sometimes turns out they aren’t!
Egg should have been runny Greeno but glad you liked it.
It wasn’t helped by the fact I left it sat in the hot stew while I ate the sandwich.
Well that looks amazing.
It was very, very tasty!!
A trip on the Polar Express at 1530 on the Swanage railway after that.
They do some great Christmas special stuff on the Swanage Railway that's for sure!
Looks good. Had similar at the coffee box an individual cafe in Brecon. Not cheap, but worth it..
Yes, very tasty indeed
Good sour dough bread is hard to pull off, most of it is a teeth shattering rocket sledge into pure misery (slight exaggeration). I'll take normal fresh white bread over anything especially since they've managed to incorporate lots of fibre into it that you don't even notice.
This place had such a great slection of breads - from the normal white sandwich tin thgouh to all manner of flavoured breads, cheese and chilli, prune and walnut - outstanding stuff!
