Every old school Who Fan's favorite album, and for me Live at Leeds obsession through high school. The connection is visceral , as are chord layouts. Brutal then delicate. The Band is simply put , precious. "
Wow, that sounded perfect. A lot of people miss the two different G shapes in the main riff! Thanks for sharing (and for mentioning chordpic in the description - I always wondered what people were using.)
Excellent video and thank you for figuring out all the details. This sounds like the most accurate version of this song I’ve found on TH-cam. Your version sounds exactly like what Pete did on the album. When playing this song live, Pete plays a much simpler version.
Fantastic job my friend 👍 it sounds perfect, your tone chords and technique are spot on! Now it really makes me wonder if Pete actually used a "Ricki" to play this? I thought "Quadraphenia" was during his "SG/LES PAUL" time but I know he did play Riki's I've never researched what was used for this album or know if the information is even available but in any event "this is awesome" always loved this song and like all Pete's material very fun to play! .....and that is a beautiful axe!
Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins through a tweed Bandmaster that Joe Walsh gave him, I believe that was his primary rig during this period. I also remember hearing he had a '57 Strat as well as his stalwart Gibsons.
Great guitar work. You've done Pete proud. Of course, by this time in the 1970's Pete was a "Gibson man" BUT the rick sounds spot-on. I too have a 360.
Many thanks, Ian! I was trying to see how close I could get the Rick to a P90 SG. It's crazy how those two can actually imitate each other, given how different they are in construction.
It's a 1988 model. The 360s have the 'Rick-o-sound' stereo output, the 330s are mono. To my knowledge that's the only difference besides looks. I actually have never even tried to use the stereo feature, so it's nothing I would miss in a 330.
I believe that too..not sure of the name of the chord but the B and G strings on the diagram need to come up one fret each to have your sound I believe. Is that correct.
quadrophenia is townsends opus ... a work of genius.
I agree. His best. I heard this guy say at a record store that Tommy was his masterpiece and that Quadrophenia was trash..... can't disagree more.
. I Agree Also!
I love that red Rickenbacker
I just came across this and my 360 is sitting right beside me. Had to give a go..I declare I will be three inches taller...
Great stuff...
Excellent. Great display of Pete's genius for chords.

Great tone and technique. Nailed it!
Thank you!
coolest fucking guitar ever
You're not wrong
How have I only just found this?!?
What a song!
What an album!
What a cover!!!
Superb job sir!
Thank you!
As someone learning guitar for a year now, this looks a tough chord progression. Well done - impressed!
Thank you!
Brilliant ✌️
Great sound!
Thank you!
Great tone!
just discovered this. fantastic!
You sir, fuckin smashed it!!
Thank you!
Fantastic job playing this song !!!
Thanks for sharing all your videos!
You're a great player and I love the Rickenbackers!
Many thanks for your kind words, Steve!
Wow, that sounded perfect. A lot of people miss the two different G shapes in the main riff! Thanks for sharing (and for mentioning chordpic in the description - I always wondered what people were using.)
Thank you!
Must be guitar George, he knows all the cords ! 👍🙋♂️🖖🏻
An old guitar is all he can afford!
A couple of comedians. I love it!!!! 🤣✌🏻
Thank you for for working that out for me. Lot's of love from a fellow Mod. X
Very well done, my friend, very rare and perfect phrasing.
Thank you David!
beauty guitar

Thank you Stefan!
Nice job on one of my all time favorite Who songs! Nice axe too!
This is outstanding. Now I’m coveting a 360. Great playing.
Many thanks Mike!
He got me coveting one too! Get one, they’re fantastic.
Love what you do! One doubt I have on this score is that I had thought Pete used the Gretsch 6120 on all the Quadrophenia tracks...
He did.
You are exactly right. Pete played a Gretsch 6120 given to him by Joe Walsh on every song on Quadrophenia.
This is truly making me want to buy an electric guitar to learn to play this song!! Excellent rendition, and many thanks for your annotated chords.
Go for it!
VA VA VOOM !! Great job !
Fantastic
Love this song, love your playing. A must watch several times a week for me. Nothing beats Quadrophenia. Thanks!
Thank you!

Thanks a lot! You're right about Quadrophenia, the era-correct guitar for this tune would be a junior SG.
Gretsch 6120 Chet Atkins through a tweed Bandmaster that Joe Walsh gave him, I believe that was his primary rig during this period. I also remember hearing he had a '57 Strat as well as his stalwart Gibsons.
You tried to walk on the trail they were carving, and by the sounds of it, you’ve managed a stroll!..
I'm the guy in the sky!
@because And I’m the punk with the stut-ter!..
Fucking outstanding!
Thanks man!
WELL DONE, SIR!! Pete Townshend and Rickenbacker forever!! (Though Pete played a Gretsch 6120 on the entire Quadrophenia album.)
Thank you, and you're right of course.
Pretty guitar bro!
Such an awesome job and such a great song that you chose
Thank you!!
Beautiful Ruby 360. And nice playing.
Thanks a lot!
Outstanding!
Nailed it.....Bravo!!!
Awesome. A flawless. You're playing is, like the song, incrediby powerful!!!
Thank you Matthew!

thought Pete used a Gretsch in the studio for Quadrophenia
@@PlusdesChats
But the live versions are played on Gibsons 😳
Bravo! That was fantastic.
Thank you!
Good job ...lovely sounding Riccy ...
Pete Townsend's stuntman...
Haha, thanks!
Very cool! I have a 330/6 and it’s my favourite guitar ever.
Where did Townshend even come up with this stuff? Pretty amazing.
Awesome job, I wish I could keep up
Awesome job on 1 of my fave who songs. Btw, john and keith are monsters on that song !
Bravo!
👏👏👏👏
SUBLIME!
Dam, there’s a lot going on in this one. This may be out of my league
That’s what practice is for. 🙂 It was out of Pete’s league once too, til he learned it!! 🤙🏻
what amp are you using? sounds awesome
Thank you! It's the guitar straight into a (modeled) AC30, a little bit of reverb.
Well done!
What pedal are you using with the Ric?
Thank you! It's just a cranked AC30 and a bit of reverb!
What year is your Rick? Is there any difference besides cosmetic between the 360 and 330?
It's a 1988 model. The 360s have the 'Rick-o-sound' stereo output, the 330s are mono. To my knowledge that's the only difference besides looks. I actually have never even tried to use the stereo feature, so it's nothing I would miss in a 330.
Kill licks. Learning the Real Me and found you while searching 🤩
I’m SuBD’
Thank you, and have fun! Quadrophenia just rocks.
Bm/E is incorrect in the chord diagram
I believe that too..not sure of the name of the chord but the B and G strings on the diagram need to come up one fret each to have your sound I believe. Is that correct.
Is that you Townshend playing?
😅
Hate that the recording is not in standard tuning. I think it’s flat?Must’ve been a post recording pitch change.
You're right, it's a couple cents flat! No idea how that happened.
What amp are using?
You sound like Pete
Thank you! It's the Rick straight into an AC30, cranked. It's not at all the era-correct Quadrophenia set-up, but it gets you in the ballpark.
This is not an easy song to play. IMHO, Quadrophenia is the best work by Pete Townshend...
Looks like your chord diagram for the Bm/E is not what you're playing. Looks like your playing 050430 not 050320.
Yes, of course! Thanks for catching that.
you don't keep a good tempo thou
