A line I found interesting in retrospect was when Lucy said “My dad would not forgive me if I were to destroy an entire community just to find him” when that is literally what he did.
Love this type of stuff. Reminds me of Episode 2 when Wilzig tells Lucy that she might not want the same things once she becomes an entirely different animal...and in Episode 8, he's right, she doesn't want to save him anymore.
@@Krucifus It’s cool because they aren’t lines that directly foreshadow events but subtly show hints to things and payoff certain aspects.
She got a taste of what we got as kids in the 50s thru 70s. Where parents back in the day always pulled the, do as I say, not as I do. She also got a bit of the old, I brought u into the world, I can take u out. These were big when I was a kid in the 70s. Peace
@@Krucifus When you learn the truth, your priorities change (as long as one is capable of critical thinking). This can be applied to the real world as well (politics, religion, "culture war" issues, and so on). Brilliant writing.
@@Fairygrl_TW I remember 😜
Here’s the ultimate kick to the face:
Shady Sands was founded by the people who left Vault 15. It was a successful Vault Tech experiment that actually made the world a better place.
And then Maclean came along and nuked it, because he did not want the Vault Tech mission to be compromised. Not knowing the whole time he had burned down the work he wanted so desperately to see.
Kind of. Hank wanted a vault-tec controlled society. The people who made a civilization from vault 15 didn't make the kind of civilization that Bud wanted to see.
Puts the lie to Lucy's statement at 14:30 ...
@@bigyeticane True. Hank is pawn, I grant he is powerful person, but still brain washed zealot, who is not given the full picture. That makes him a pawn or a tool to use... And I really want to see who the real big bad one is...
@@thejamppai think we all can guess....Barb
@@galadballcrusher8182
But what about the person/people she looked up to above the meeting table in the shadows right before she started putting ideas on the table? I wonder who her and Bud answer to🤔
@34:48 "whoah a ghoul" that was the Ghoul who stopped and said "Thank You!" when Lucy had them all released, right before she had to shoot Martha.
Nice catch!
A quick note about Jonathan Nolan. He isn't just Christopher's brother, he was the screenwriter for most of Christopher's projects. Wrote the scripts for Batman Begins, the Dark Knight, the Dark Knight Rises, Memento, Interstellar, The Prestige and was Head screenwriter for Westworld, which like Fallout he directed multiple episodes as well.
Insane, did not know that. The man deserves that aknowledgement.
You missed that thaddeus missing lucy and maximus and saying ‘i suck without a scope’ is another nod to the weapons in the game.
In fallout 3, you couldn't aim down the sights lol
If season 2 is anywhere as good as this one was, I CANNOT WAIT!!!
Gotta wait 2026 😔
@@Amalibtrending aye atleast we qre getting it. 🥲
I agree and am obsessed about the show rn.
You are correct. 101097 was the day the first Fallout was released.
That was indeed Robert House!
The fiddle music is the music played by the Minuteman radio station once the castle is back up and running in Fallout 4.
I grinned so hard when I heard it.
Fun full-circle nod: when you see the original bomb go off at that house in the hills in episode 1, you can see the observatory there on the lower left.
did you notice that the Secretary in Barb's office was Betty and the brain WAS Bud Atkins
Vault 31 is middle management and support. Upper management is in some other vault most likely... one that is likely not an experiment.
Exactly. Mrs Cooper is above Bud title wise, only Buds Jrs are in 31.
That's a good point. They didn't show a guy hiding up in the shadows for no reason during the meeting of Fallout's major players.
Thats the enclave isnt it?
@@bigyeticane My completely bonkers, off the wall, theory is that the guy in the shadows is Matt Berry.
Both Lucy and Max got exactly what they had wanted -Lucy found her dad, Max became a knight, and both were ultimately disappointed. Dreams rarely live up to the expectations.
Lesson learned. Never draw on a cowboy! Especially a pre war mutant cowboy.
Honestly, what was the kid thinking? I know he was taunted into it, but he was never walking away from that.
That's good advice
1:01:18 - "the higher up you were..." - highlighted by the fact that at 42:22, you see Betty - the once-and-future Overseer to Vault 33 - introduce Hank to Cooper.
I feel like in these last two episodes, Mr October finally realised how wild fallout stories really get. I almost saw the moment itself, and I loved it.
58:28 lol that noise she made. Loved these reactions.
"IDK how he got that in there"
50s cars had TONS of trunk space. You could fit a whole dead body in there, just ask The Mob
The Radio is a nod to the classical radio station. People used to complain that they hated the music in the game, that's why its so funny that the guy with the booby traps was running the classical radio station.😂
8 years ago it wasn’t my favorite but now that i’m older i really appreciate it lol
@@TheOctobersReact At least you aren't a critic anymore😅
Radio Freedom, at the Castle in Fallout 4...
I was thinking of Agatha of Fallout 3 who plays a very limited amount of violin music on her radio station.
Iiiiiii was alwaaaaaaaays a foooooooooool, fooooooor my............
The great thing about this show (besides it being ridiculously well done with great characters+actors, setting, story etc.) is that Fallout gamers and non-gamers alike probably enjoyed it equally as much.
Well Lucy isn’t from shady sands. Her mom took her there from the vault.
Mrs. October: "I don't wanna see the tattered tootsie."
Me: "The Tattered Tootsie would be a great name for a bar."
"Those small towns...." Yeah, it's all good until your cousin tells your gramma (an exaggerated version of) your business and now they wanna pray over you in church, where the sheriff plays bass guitar. I wish I was B.S. ing
Coop episode 6: "You think Barb is the devil?"
Coop episode 8: ... Well shit.
Rewatching the series and I'm catching a lot of foreshadowing. The writing is so damn good and I hope they elevate it even more for season 2.
I've enjoyed this trip with you. I also wanted to say I LOVE how you two interact. It always is from a place of love. I watch a handful of couples and so often there is flipping crap between them. I wouldn't watch it if it was too much, but I just find your way of working together refreshing.
Agreed. Some _are_ too much and I gotta bail. Lol
1:00:00
Nah, you framed it well enough sir.
Great reaction from both ya. Was great finding out Mrs. was a gamer and liked fallout no less. Really good empathy and thoughts, following the story beats well.
My personal favorite of the reactions, y'all didn't hate on Maximus unnecessarily, gave him a chance, and understood his actions for the most part. Been following y'all for several series/movies and so glad TH-cam recommended hall. Can't wait for more from y'all. 🤙🏾
There is one question I haven't seen any reactor ask. Of all of the characters from Vault 31, who obviously worked for Vault Tec before the bombs dropped, there is one character from 31 we haven't seen before it all started and the Ghoul was still Cooper. And that's Stephanie One Eye, so the question is who was she and what did she do at Vault Tec ?
And of course she was not so shockingly appointed as the new Overseer for Vault 32. I’m sure we’re going to get a lot more flashbacks next season, especially since there’s still parts of Cooper’s story that need to be covered.
Probably receptionist.
@@westfinest20 I don't know, they were all managment. A receptionist isn't management.
The brain was Bud.
I think it's fun that Maximus has apparently been told all his life that the vaults are full of monsters because, figuratively, that's totally true. Especially the vaults with "management" in them. And, for a number of the vaults, it's probably literally true.
I like the nods to New Vegas alongside the last two episodes foreshadowing the final scene: the helmet that the bullet farmer was using, the Salsaparrilla sign, and the cameo of the boss of RoboCo.
Also, the ghoul saying that cannibalism is a bit too much... like Jinx in Arcane, who is voiced by Lucy's actress.
"Who is that shady figure up there?" (during the exec meeting).
Probably ..... The Enclave !!!!
Maximus is a good person I think. He was saved by a knight of Brotherhood of the Steel. That is his core principle. To live up like knight who saved him. that is why he let Titus' die, because Titus' wasn't fitting in Maximus' idea of knight (and Titus' was also jerk who threatened him). That ideal is: Knight is someone who protects the weak. He has been in religious zealot organization, where he gets beaten and bullied. He has been weak his entire life. He has pretty much 7 year old's level communication outside hierarchy. Now he has been recognized and cheered, he is in position of power. With his luck and lack of knowledge... I am interested to see what happens to Maximus' in second season. I know Many doesn't see Maximus as that interesting or well written character. He is not the level of Lucy or The Ghoul, but the foundation they built on Maximus' character development is really interesting.
Dogmeats designation is CX-404 in reference to the 404 page not found computer error.
wow those things were 2000s for me
MVP's/RiP: Lee Moldaver & Siggi Wilzig.
Wilzig identified the cold fusion key, betrayed The Enclave, stole the key, risked his life and trekked across the United States to reach California with the key in his body. Then he killed himself to make it more likely for cold fusion to reach Moldaver.
Moldaver invented cold fusion, and instead of resting on her billionaire laurels, she crossed time and became an absolute badass in order to see her life's work gifted to humanity right before she died.
Some of the few altruistic people in the Wasteland. And then you have POS like Hank and Bud walking (roomba-ing?) free... at least for now.
Tattered tootsy was my gang name back in the 80s😂😂
They could be a band, too. Now presenting, live for your entertainment, Maximus and the Tattered Tootsies!
They got everything right with this show. The care and detail is amazing, more than anyone could for probably. Wonderful reaction as always , guys. Happy gaming!
I was happy to see all episodes available immediately. I tend to lose the hype sooner if I have to wait longer. It’s probably a gamble for them to decide which way to go. And, Mr O really needs to see a bunch of vaults. Too much imagination is never enough.
Not only is the show over but we have to wait until 2026 for more or by some miracle of good takes, good editing, a perfect script, a better budget, and good time management we get it holidays 2025 but, I doubt it. Especially if we get more episodes from next season which I absolutely want. But yeah, good reactions as always, Octobers! I also hope one of y'all play New Vegas on stream at some point. It would be awesome.
If you go back and watch any of the "World of Tomorrow" movies from the 50s/60s, you'd see a lot of the inspiration on the pre-war US for the Fallout universe. Then it got blown up.
Yes that was Mr. House.
Yeah, Oct 10, 1997 was the release date for the first Fallout game.
I think Dane was trying to help Maximus recover from bringing back the fake head by declaring he'd killed the leader and should be made a knight.
The code dad entered 101097 was the date of 1st Fallout game release 10 October 1997 :D
Both Lucy and Max got what they wanted at the start, and by the end, they didn't want it any more.
58:22 I can’t say what it is other then that “radioactive ram” being one of the most iconic creatures in the franchise
she thought it was death claw
It is
1 thing I've just noticed is when Norm got locked in Vault 31 and Bud told him he should get in the pod, he said there's no food besides the odd bug. How do the bugs get in? Maybe there's a hole in the vault somewhere and if there is maybe Norm finds a way to escape instead of getting in the pod 🤷♂️
And the code 101097 is when the 1st game released, good catch.
What’s interesting is how Dane cheered Maximus for knighthood. One way Romans and others would get a war leader (such as Roman generals or even Ceasar) was when voted by warriors in popular acclaim at a battle. Dane may be a spy of the former legion or working for the Elder who spared Maximus.
Bruh, that "being 30 and playing video games for 3 months straight and having no urge to go see you family or friends" hit different.
foreal..
It makes a great visual, but I agree that after over 200 years, how did the power grid - let alone the light bulbs - survive?
The aesthetic of the Fallout world is a sub-genre of retro-futurism known as "atompunk." Basically, it's like steampunk but, instead of an alternate history where computers and advanced machinery were invented in Victorian times and run on steam and gears and everything's made of brass, it's an alternate history where atomic power became the big thing (like people in our world in the 1950s and '60s assumed it was going to be), allowing the world to develop into the "ultra-modern world of the future!" that those people of the '50s and '60s imagined when they imagined the year 2000 and beyond.
once again nice reaction guys..keep it up..much love god bless..
21:44 I believe Wilzig used 'Four' as a nick-name / short-name as 'CX-404' was a bit of a mouthful.
I haven't fast traveled since Daggerfall where it is pretty much mandatory due the map size. I have used builtin mechanics for it though (carriages etc), but never magic travel.
New Vegas looks completely busted up, I'm guessing something happened between FONV and the series that we're not yet aware of.
I miss the immersive fast travel, like all the boats and silt striders in Morrowind!
y’all missed it before hank came in cooper said I’m-I’m fine Betty. 42:22
Yes it was Mr House at the Board meeting.
Yes the code is the release date of Fallout 1 in 1997.
Someone knows her s...... :)
gg
27:01 Does Maximus even know where vault 33 is?
Probably not at that moment, but, with the vault's number, he at least has something to go on to track her down. On the other hand, maybe he does. I mean, it's not like the entrances to the vaults are very well hidden. AND they have big numbers on the doors so, really, how hard could it be to find the one you're looking for? Plus, everyone on the surfaces seem to be pretty aware of all the vaults, even if they don't know what goes on inside or whether the people inside are even alive (e.g. how the shopkeeper in Filly just assumed all the vault-dwellers were dead by that point).
@@johnplaysgames3120 You got a point that vault 33 isn't well hidden so the people around it probably know about it. But there are plenty of vaults that are hidden though. And of course just because surface dwellers are aware of vaults does not mean they know where they all are.
It is a nostalgic feel. Love the Retro visuals and sounds. Lucy got what we got as kids, where parents back in the day always pulled the do as I say not as I do. Its def what the elites would do...Nuke us, and those locked in protection, ruled by thoughts and ways that keep them under control. In the Fallout world, u could live forever by becoming a robo brain. Vault tec the true villain. Im hoping to see, super mutants, synths, liberty prime and more factions in seasons to come. Not easy to fast travel in Fallouts only because of the random missions/finds u get when exploring the world. Because...I love fast travel also, but its the reason I keep finding new stuff even in my 60+ play thru's, lol. Thanx so much, take care, Peace
The Brotherhood is all about the ends justifying the means, so no surprise Maximus defaults to that mindset at every opportunity.
Yeah, it's the only thing he's known since he was a kid. I think it's interesting that Maximus has this idea of what a Knight is supposed to be but the only person he's seen actually demonstrate those values in practice is Lucy. When she made him give back Vault 4's fusion core because it would be wrong to take it and leave them to die -- even though it meant not getting to use the power armor -- I think that really showed Maximus that there can actually be good and heroic people... and those people aren't the Brotherhood. Lucy is the Knight that Maximus has been imagining ever since he climbed out of that refrigerator as a kid.
the questions I was left with after finishing was
-how did Moldavor live that long
(i could’ve missed how they explained that if they did)
-the blonde women w/the eye patch, I want to know how she’s involved in all of this
-when the bombs dropped the ghoul was with his daughter but he says to hank “where’s my family” so clearly he has reason to believe his daughter might also be alive too so I wonder what happened to that.
i’m sure these will get answered next season & i cannot waittttt!
great reaction per usuall🫶🏻
Episode 8 is *chef's kiss*. So good.
2:42 - 2:50 amen brother😂
IMO Betty poisoned the prisoners, their usefulness is done.
And did you catch that Betty is who brought Coop into the vault-tec office
Also Hank was an idiot because Shady Sands was a Vault-tec creation from the residents of vault 15 I believe.
I don't see the issue with dropping an entire season in one go. Personally I lose interest waiting week to week and much prefer the full drop. I just don't see how I would find it less engrossing being able to binge watch it? But I suppose its horses for courses and takes all types ;) Loved you reactions and coverage
Great reaction.
I just recently started playing New Vegas for the first time. I've played some of the other Fallout games (not 76), but never played finished any of them due to consistent bad luck with PC hardware.
I'm extremely tedious with my OCD. Open world games. Read all the things, check all the things, must do all side quests, must find all the places, etc. Games with weight and item limits frustrate me. Throw in books/notes/lore, my gods. I spend several hours just finding and reading books in Skyrim before I even attempted to see the Greybeards xD
Also playing Dragon Age Inquisition FTFT.. same deal. I'm about 18 hours in and haven't finished The Hinterlands. But, I'm glad I can zone out
Just realized I’m watching my neighbors….sort of. I live near y’all’s PO.
I'm just across the river in Aiken, SC. Howdy, neighbors!
About going around and picking up all the fast travels - YEP. I'm not a huge fan of open worlds, but the last big one I made a significant way into was Dragon Age: Inquisition. And every time I opened up a new area, first thing I did was go around and get all the camps! 100% my way to go through areas. Especially if those become spawn points, because I know I'm not going to stay alive long in a new place XD
I just started a playthrough of Fallout 3 after watching the show after owning it for a while. Starting out as a shooting build was a mistake for me since ammo is limited (I'm a spray and pray player, lmao), but once I switched to melee I'm having a blast. Not sure I'll get through the entire game, but we'll see!
I also think the music was a nod to the Minutemen :)
Great reaction both
An epic twist at the ending episode and a sad one. Two main characters learning the person they love the most are nothing more than genocidal mass murderers. It would have been game over for dad. I don't care who you are, you don't hurt my mother, especially like that. Cooper's family wouldn't be in Vault 31, that's for Buds Buds. Barb is a top executive and would be somewhere else, maybe New Vegas? The NCR remnants didn't stand a chance against the BOS, they should have tried to get more soldiers there since this cold fusion is so important. That was Mr. House at that meeting and Fredrick Sinclair (BigMT) also.
love the show, love the game :D and yes thats Robert House!
Why? One simple word. Control. Absolute and total control.
At the end I wonder what happened to noor y’all talked about new Vegas n stuff but what happens to all the vault dwellers
season 1 was awesome i enjoyed it
Same. I never played thr game but i enjoyed every single eps. Hope they make a second season too.
if you watched rick and Morty before the guy with one eye is Morty lol
The fiddle music is also a nod to Radio freedom the Minutemen radio station in fallout 4 which plays that music and it annoys people so much most of us mod in different music for Radio Freedom.
You guys should watch Vikings next!
They call it futuristic retro. Lol
SHADY SANDS SOUNDS LIKE A FORTNITE MAP
Very good game adaptations! I love playing F4;F76 good stories! But i hate the Vault-Tech human research! New Vegas in the end right? I don't play F1-3;NV Win10 not working this game. In game 2077 but real world when?
Kind of a off-topic question sorry if I'm being nosey, are you guys last name really October or is it Just a nickname?
