    I have this exact same vehicle in black (had it for almost 2 years now) and I LOVE IT!!!!! I will never drive anything but an Explorer from now on! I feel so safe in it and EVERYBODY who has ridden in it has said how insanely comfortable it is and what a smooth ride it is! In fact, my boyfriend's best friend went right out and bought one for himself last summer after riding in mine and instantly falling in love with it! Mine just hit 70k miles last week and I've never had a single problem with it. The only things I've needed to do are the oil changes very few months and I put new tires on it last year, but that's it!

    We bought this exact car yesterday except mine doesn't have leather seats. I'm so glad I came accross this and you told that the key fob has to be in your pocket for the back lift sensor to work because I was thinking it didn't have one but I also didn't have the keys. I'm also glad to see that it has the blind spot sensors because I haven't driven it much yet and no one has been in my blind spot yet and I was hoping it would.

      Going to look at a 17 with 92k tomorrow. How many miles do u have on yours now and have u had any problems with it?

      @SeanP973 make sure the transmission shifts smooth. Take it on a longer test drive if you can. For me we haven’t had any major issues yet but every once and a while the trans will shift hard at low speeds from 2nd to 3rd

    I bought mine in October 2016 brand new. XLT with almost all the upgrades. 150,000 miles and still going strong. I had the water pump replaced at 60,000 miles which lead to an engine replacement 2 weeks later. Loooong story short the new engine has 90,000 miles on it and I still love this truck. Take care of it and it will take care of you.

    I recently Sold my 2016 Explorer, Limited. While I love the suv, but the previous owner sisnt take care of it as it was a Fleet car. (The car was with me from 2018-11/2023) truthfully it was a great family car. I just would prefer to buy brand new and NOT a Fleet car (rental or company)
    It was a 4WD (technically it's an Awd) so, it has served me well. I would love to keep it, but don't need two cars yet.

      We still have our. Been very reliable, but the two things I have seen myself and one that I’ve heard is the alternator going, which can be a struggle to change and very expensive expensive I’ve done at the shop. And then the water pump I have not experienced but hear from many people they can fail both of these before 100,000 miles.

    I own a 2013 Ford Edge with the 3.5 non-turbo. Mine has 140k miles on it with very few problems, same drivetrain as your Explorer. The one thing to watch for is the water pump. If it goes you can count on a $2000 repair bill if you are lucky enough to catch it before you trash your engine. A friend of ours had an Explorer like yours but her water pump failed and trashed the engine, new engine required.

    Pete,
    I might have some good news for you. You stated you didn't have the tow package but your window sticker plainly states the Class III trailer tow package is installed and cost $570. The package does NOT come with a Ball assembly and is hidden behind a removable access cover panel. Your video also shows the access cover on the rear bumper cover under the rear hatch door. Simply place your hand under the rear access panel and pull up and out. The panel will swing up and then pull it away from the bumper cover. You will find the hitch receiver and the electrical connections. I have a 2019 model with the same "hidden" tow package. Your Class III package is rated at 5,000 lbs with a tongue limit of 500 lbs. Great tour of the vehicle and I'm sure you will enjoy.

    Nice!! Didn’t know they came in 6cyl. versions. I’d definitely lay the black wrap up top. They look so much like the Range Rover. Really sleek. Good choice! ✊🏽

      The 3.5 v6 is a SOLID engine, my dad has one that’s running like a top at 250k. Also, not to be that guy in the comments but…my mom is the service manager at a ford dealership and she swears by the v6 3.5 in these things. They VERY rarely are in the shop. The worst thing about them is the water pump is internal, so you have to take the front end of the engine apart to change that.

    I’m considering this vehicle but the platinum version at 15k. Battery has been replaced and AC repaired. Fully serviced before sale. 75k miles. Is that a good/fair price? And have you ran into any issues?

    • @petescarport
      @petescarport  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      That sounds like an incredible deal. We paid $28k when market was insane but we also got crazy money for our trade in so it worked out for us. I would say it’s worth about $20k or more with those miles. Only issue we have had so far outside of maintenance was the alternator going and I changed it myself. We have noticed the transmission with slam sometimes in low gears when going slow. I have also heard the water pump will give issues around this mileage. I would plan for $5k in fixes over next 50k miles if you get it.

    • @riskybiscuits7361
      @riskybiscuits7361 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That’s a good tip about the additional maintenance. I really like the limited 4Runner, but this deal may be hard to pass up. Thanks for the insight.

      Well so far Ford $0 cost outside regular maintenance. Bmw was about $4k first year and more the next few. But the bmw was a superior vehicle. If they could just put a Honda motor in a bmw we could all love them
