I am a part time food delivery rider with my own channel in singapore. The situation you described is also happening here. Inflation is here. Cost of living is sky rocketing. Delivery platforms are decreasing the base fees to squeeze their way to cut losses. It's perfectly alright as a side hustle but tough to do this as a full time gig. Anyway love your content and it's a treat to watch hardworking riders such as yourself. We might be on opposite sides of the world but the issues facing platform workers seem to be universal.
As a customer, prices are really high for delivery, I tried deliveroo for the first time instead of me picking up a family takeout last night. The kitchen is around three miles away and I ended up paying £35 for an order that would have cost me £25 to collect (South Derbyshire), unsure what percentage goes to the rider but I feel it's unlikely I will order again.
I completely agree with you! Wages haven't gone up with inflation and the cost of living so delivery is becoming even more expensive and for me it was already expensive during the pandemic but it was still affordable for people. £10 to have it ordered is crazy...this is why I always pick up my orders myself. I know that it doesn't help my situation by saying that but it's the truth. Not sure on the percentage to the rider, we would probably get like £5 but I don't think it's calculated like that because the apps charge the restaurant too.
@@pmc8651 I care for my adult son who is house bound along with two disabled children - the occasional takeaway is more of a treat for them. It's a great shame that those who are vulnerable and house bound are even less likely to afford extra delivery costs which may even kitchen essentials delivered from a supermarket. With rising costs it's interesting to see a perspective from the delivery riders point of view.
Please please please come to Kingston upon Hull you guys would be better off getting your selves an excellent office where you can have a receptionist with a kettle on the boil for when it starts raining and you could leave some spare clothes and spare so KS and some nice waterproof foot wear to swap into and you could get changed into your waterproof coat and waterproof trawsers and you could even think about having a spare room in your own luxury office for your delivery service pick up points and you should discuss this with other riders so then you guys could have a very nice peaceful place to share with other riders to live and you can keep your bikes and bags safe in stead of having them stolen
I agree with you that Uber Eats, Just eat and Stuart has dried up. Deliveroo is the only app which gives me enough orders to survive. Only disadvantage on deliveroo is they don’t pay enough for breakfast orders and we also need to keep an eye on the battery too. If the battery is dead we can’t stay on the road for long unless there is a spare battery. And nowadays it’s very hard to get a new deliveroo account as well.
They are in a tricky situation...they are losing lots of money so they need to increase prices but at the same time that's killing off demand for their service. So I think this is a big issue for the delivery apps and why they never may be profitable until they can have self driving cars and drones doing the deliveries. Also the prices on the apps is controlled by the restaurants they have to put the prices up by 20-30% to cover the service fees of the apps and now that food is more expensive I guess they have to put that up to!
Compared to the states and the tipping culture out there we are getting paid peanuts but people still want to complain about a service that never existed before, I think being a rider they should increase the fees and for people to order more because then we tend to get paid more with larger orders if you see what I am saying
Yep have stopped using Just Eat cos of this. Just not worth it. I just try and order local and pick up myself or just eat in. The extra markup on food + delivery doesn't make it worth it.
I use to order from Uber Eats about 2-3 times per week for a very long time. Now I order from any delivery service once per month. The delivery fees are fair I feel but that in addition to the meal prices going up so much I’ve just about completely stopped eating out in any way. The delivery fees, which again I think are very fair, it’s all just too much.
There's loads of take aways advertising for delivery drivers and riders you guys would be better off working with each other well why don't you think about getting all of the riders to come and join you on deliverooh and there's loads of safe accommodation here for you guys
During lockdown and for 6-8 months after I used delivery apps 2-3 times a week. We eat a lot of take out in our house due to work hours. But I've either stopped using them, or I do collection as its saves me on average £7-£8 a time.
I can’t afford to order anymore 😢 last week I ordered a burger, fries and drink . It was nearly £25 before tip with delivery fee and service charge! wtf is service charge! It’s a burger place not a high end steak house 🤯🤦♂️ I always tip btw

It’s basically a service for the rich or people that value convenience. Grab is the main player in Singapore and while the demand is still pretty decent here, the majority of customers that orders uses a promo code. They have a subscription where you can get 99x $3 off delivery vouchers for just $5.99/month, so lots of people including myself uses them, and I would rarely order food delivery without any discounts. It's no surprise the bubble is bursting on this. We're all being squeezed. I've noticed my neighbours who were regulars for getting food delivered on Friday and Saturday nights, never get deliveries now. I worry for the drivers who were relying on this to make some sort of income. It must be impossible.
What do you mean? Just Eat has shifts, Deliveroo doesn't. Amyway... it's not worth the effort, really. It's extremely frustrating and these companies don't bother with paying any decent money anymore. Total sh/t circus the entire food delivery business.
Saturated market (Lots of companies doing deliveries, lots of different individuals now working for these apps), higher costs of food and drink, lower amounts of disposable income. Lots of reasons for the market to be contracting.
Normally I ordered one or two times per week, now it’s down to zero. If we want something from a restaurant I get it myself, as the prices are ridiculous for the delivery. 🤷♂️

About a year later and I'm still working as a delivery driver for Just Eat in Germany. Can't complain much and I'm probably gonna stay with them until i get my Master's degree and get a proper job. Ideally, I should get it before the end of this year.
I'm delivering in Nottingham as well, and while I'm making a reasonable amount each week it's worse than last winter, but my worry is restaurants leaving and using thier own drivers. Two of the busiest restaurants in notts left and you can see the difference. If places choose to stay on the platform but use Thier own drivers were fucked.
Just eat is ridiculous atm they was all right when I stared beginning of the year now I got only one shift per week or two and they still taking more riders ….
You do look a bit fast and dangerous to pedestrians when you are meandering between people while going over pedestrian bridges and when riding in pedestrianised shopping areas which aren't as far as I can see actual cycle routes. If they are actually shared areas, you still look like an accident may happen involving you and a pedestrian when you are having to weave around and between pedestrians.
Ordered from Uber eats last week and the app said it was delivered, but we were waiting by the door and no one came. I decided to walk to the Chinese instead.

I was doing deliveroo in Exeter in the pandemic and after it. When fuel prices went crazy it was false economy as was spending too much on diesel. It’s dried up unfortunately and there’s too many scalpers who are abusing the system’s with multi apping all at the same time. It’s bad for customers and they don’t want to wait forever for food to arrive.

Your videos are great though it traces the journey of these companies through these economic recessions like the pandemic I wish someone would listen though because I do not think people realise what is going on in the real world and the economic factors at play which are affecting everyone, they need to look at the person and not the account. The fact they often do not have insurance or illegal immigrants show corners are being cut and like always we are the ones to feel the results.
I do deliveroo in my car part time to supplement my income and it's pretty decent to be fair. On average on a quiet day I can still achieve at least minimum wage. On a steady average day I can do £12-13 an hour, on a really busy weekend dinner time I can get £13-14 an hour

We should also mention the massive levels of immigration. These jobs attract migrants making a huge influx of drivers for minimum orders. I purchased an electric bike thinking of doing this on the side but quickly realised it's pointless. Just eat is the main company in my area and after seeing I'd have to sign for shifts in advance was the final nail in the coffin. I told them to cancel my application and to refund me for my bag. I prefer to watch others do it on the tv now....lol. Good luck dude.
It's interesting because during the pandemic there wasn't as many delivery people and there were lots of locals doing this work. Now I can't recognise any delivery people in Nottingham because there definitely seems to be a massive influx of immigrants doing this work legally and illegally. I do think this puts a downwards pressure on delivery fees because they are more willing to take low paying orders because for them it's a lot of money back home and I think they are probably sending money back home because I would do the same. On a side note you can still get good use out of your electric bike for fun and exercise!
they are at least all illegal they rent their account to others and pay a commission of 20 or 30% this makes people like us who pay every signle penny not profitable to work as rider

@@GigHustle Yeah actually this weekend they had a quest on here for the first time in agesssss. £3 extra per 2 deliveries, which is amazing. Maybe it's picking up? 👀
I only use just eat or deliveroo for food delivery as Uber eats isn’t available in my area.
Just found this ,boy what memories this brings back for me,I live in West Australia but I'am a Medders boy ,you went pass my old school on London Rd ,you went over the river into W.B (lived on Gordon Rd) followed by Bunbury St where my wife lived, pass St Saviours we got married there in 1965 and then went next to West End Arcade we had a cafe there in 79/80,as I say we live in WA in a place called BUNBURY so there you go...😀😀😀.
the small delivery bag you have in the main bag, was wondering where I would get one of those, as the other thing, how do you manage multiple orders with that setup?
It's no surprise the bubble is bursting on this. We're all being squeezed. I've noticed my neighbours who were regulars for getting food delivered on Friday and Saturday nights, never get deliveries now. I worry for the drivers who were relying on this to make some sort of income. It must be impossible.
McDonald's where I live always has stacks of orders just sat there going cold waiting for riders I have never had a McDonald's delivery that was hot
I've been approved as a Rider for Deliveroo for around 5 months and not a single shift! - Cheltenham. Love your vids @gighustle!
I don't blame you! It's already bloody expensive picking it up yourself let alone paying for all the delivery fees!
So is my food delivery insurance at over £1,300+ with a full license and 6 years no claims

Thank you for the vid more pls ❤❤
So basically if it wasn't for the E-Bike you'd be paying to do this job?
Whatever camera you are using, it's giving a fantastic quality video. Very nice.
I live in Downtown Dallas, Texas. Americans are bigger than people in the UK. They are so keen on super sized fast food and giant sodas. Ugh. Those 44oz drinks don't fit on my bike at all. I'm a tiny woman. I can't carry those heavy drinks.
Can’t believe you’re clearly picking up and the woman just stands there in your way 🤷♂️🤪🤯
😂
In her world, nobody else exists 😂🤡
Entitled . She should try looking up from her phone
How are you supposed to know which part of the counter to collect from?!
Just eat is ridiculous atm they was all right when I stared beginning of the year now I got only one shift per week or two and they still taking more riders ….
Great video and audio. What audio setup are you using?
You do look a bit fast and dangerous to pedestrians when you are meandering between people while going over pedestrian bridges and when riding in pedestrianised shopping areas which aren't as far as I can see actual cycle routes. If they are actually shared areas, you still look like an accident may happen involving you and a pedestrian when you are having to weave around and between pedestrians.
Deliveroo give me nothing. As soon as I get home I get a ping. Sick of driving about with hopes and dreams
I turn on my ubereats app for 4 hour no orders 😢
That's why I went back to full time work. I do it only weekends some delivery. But I'm thinking to sell my ebike also now😂
Im trying to create driver account for just eat barnsley but it says my area nkt avaialble how do i do it
Ordered from Uber eats last week and the app said it was delivered, but we were waiting by the door and no one came. I decided to walk to the Chinese instead.
Feeling old when I can remember a meal at McDonald's used to cost £2.99 😢
it still does, when you get a tripple cheeseburger.
what kind of phone case do you use to keep your phone safe?
Mate, you’ve forgot to add in the list of items to support you, the bicycle you’re using (perhaps an affiliate link) I love that bike 😊
It's true where I live there's more driver's than there are orders
I am glad working at these companies for 8 years has helped me improve my shopping habits but I still find myself ordering from the which is interesting
How waterproof is that jacket you wear ??
Don't quit deliverooh loads of employment for delivery drivers and riders over Kingston upon Hull and the East riding of Yorkshire such places as COTTiNGHAM and Beverley willerby square Sutton park North point shopping centre Chinese delivery shops and fish and chip shops and there's also Asda Kingswood they are in real need of home shopping delivery drivers and other food riders and pharmacy deliveries
I just came here to listen to your accent because it's awesome 🎉🎉and the way you behave is really appreciated
Thank you bro! I appreciate that 🙏
Deliveroo is the only decent one anymore, as for your just eat shift problem London eats said there scrapping that in his recent video
Great. Right when it’s the only job I’m ready to start :)
It's still fine as a side hustle!
@@GigHustle okay 🙏🏼🙏🏼 literally applied last couple days so when I saw this I thought f*ckk😭
I am on the waitlist but I was just thinking hopefully it picks up by June latest for the summer, then I saw this so I’m nervous now 😭
Was looking at 5 days 6 hours what you think?
And thanks for the quick reply man!
I think food delivery is awful its all a scam costs more plus adding on delivery charge food is 8 out of 10 x cold some are illegal riders they create major accidents on the roads through driving like reckless idiots one incident a man deliberately stopped infront of my car causing me to hit him and then had a cheek to take a picture of my plate and rode off making a claim against me customer service is shocking list goes on this is uk
I work with a shop but a pizza meal deal is 7 quid but with food hub made it 26 quid
That's crazy
The issue is the drivers
Over supple of riders, less work then Big company's take the piss and offer lower wages, cutting each others throats to earn a pittance, wake up people
Straight to the point there mate 😅
@@GigHustle it's bollocks for the workers in this country ,we work for peanuts while rich get ultra wealthy
To many Romanians coming to work in England plenty work
Yea I stopped using just eat so many times they mess up
Have you thought about doing Gophr like London Eats does?
actually in edinburgh its been the opposite its been getting better and better
You only work on deliveroo after your 1 hour commute to the city john told me.
That's interesting! How is it getting better? I started at the beginning of the pandemic and so compared to then it's not great because fees have gone down and it's not as easy to get orders in my area
@@GigHustleEdinburgh has gone downhill massively the students are not spending I think Sebastian has got that wrong.
The reddit famous seb! Clearly making 100k a year on roo!
Big uni city - students will still order delivery
Hay do you own a Barbour wax jacket ??
Please don't leave deliverooh your fellow workers need you out there with them
Food delivery is not really a job for me .
You need to get a permanent work and you do the delivery in your spare time.
The job itself will be non existent in just just a few short years with robotic delivery. There are already automated deliveries happening in my area.
I did notice that people don’t seem to tip, that’s a shame as you are providing a service, l would definitely do that.
Ironic that you’re delivering calorific food to people but getting a crazy workout doing it.
See there is a positive side to fast food 🍔🍟🍕
Bro please stop with theses titles, nans Just tryna make some bread and go home. You scaring me and whiles typing this comments I’ve just watched 2 ads for you.
Thanks for watching the ads bro! Honestly this is just my experience in Nottingham and it maybe different in other areas of the UK but I genuinely believe things are getting worse to the point that people need to find other work because this is no longer sustainable as a full time job at least from what I'm seeing!
I hear you bro. I feel like Alice in wonderland and thinking how deep does this rabbit 🐇 hole 🕳️ go?, but I am glad I have been given a job, it could be worse
Mannn he not lying Dallas ,Tx went from
Making 1500 a week to it being sooooo slow and barely hitting 300 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
@@Thepastor272 I think because everyone wants to get out after the pandemic being locked 🔒 in at home for two years it is less busy
@@Thepastor272 Reading town United Kingdom had consistent orders now nothing. Maybe covid has hit harder then most think. Everyone wants to be out and about plus probably flooded with riders 😝 sad times
So much is going on pandemic, brexit economic recession crisis, shift to carbon neutral et cetera, these companies need to make savings somewhere, I just hope it picks up. I have noticed orders stabilising over the last few months, I just stick to Uber eats as I do not trust deliveroo
Economy is fucked just when we get an 07/08 event. Interested what would happen if you did 12 hours Friday, and Saturday and nothing in the week
That's the worst feeling 😭 being drenched in rain. 🌧️
I hate that feeling too but I couldn't do anything about it haha. Thanks for your support mate! I love your membership badge. I just bought some new badges :D
Your videos are great though it traces the journey of these companies through these economic recessions like the pandemic I wish someone would listen though because I do not think people realise what is going on in the real world and the economic factors at play which are affecting everyone, they need to look at the person and not the account. The fact they often do not have insurance or illegal immigrants show corners are being cut and like always we are the ones to feel the results.
i thought it was nottingham whayyy im from notts
I do deliveroo in my car part time to supplement my income and it's pretty decent to be fair. On average on a quiet day I can still achieve at least minimum wage. On a steady average day I can do £12-13 an hour, on a really busy weekend dinner time I can get £13-14 an hour
love your vids bro, i give you a challenge though..1 video without saying awesome 😋
Cheers bro! Oh man I say that word too much! When I'm editing I'm like stop saying that word Jay lol - it's just my personality I pick up new words and then use them constantly haha
I live here in nottingham and I am a rider you are right deliveroo is way more better
Ohhh I am the guy you say hi at barburrito 😅
Good video to learn how to drive for Uber, Ola and Rapido in India, specifically Hindi speaking States, for new drivers to learn and drive. Thank you. Good luck.
I want to do delivery with you it would be amazing
On a side note you can still get good use out of your electric bike for fun and exercise!
they are at least all illegal they rent their account to others and pay a commission of 20 or 30%
this makes people like us who pay every signle penny not profitable to work as rider
@@GigHustle A house was rented out privately to a group of men at a close I live in (family home before) around 4-8 men live there, no idea what country they are from, all dark haired with beards, they all work as food delivery drivers, have a brand new shated moped and electric bikes several cars. When they arrive they didn't have a pot to piss in. Wonder if they'll be affected in what you say.

Hello sir, I am from Bangladesh. I am big fan of you ❤
Yo 🤟
Dry....
Delivery is a rip off we no longer get takeaways
Of course you shouldn’t take food delivery as your main job. You should find another stable job and do food delivery job as part time.
