No...of course not. The Padres uni's were brown AND YELLOW!!!!! With just a tiny outline of orange binding. Not even close. Get your Steve Garvey on and get with it.
Geeez....Chris, No, no one thinks of the Padres dorky late 80's unis when they are talking about the great Cleveland Browns colors and famous orange helmet. Geeez.
When they announced the change back to the traditional look, I was looking forward to seeing them again in the all whites. I thought that look, with the sleeve stripes matching the sock stripes, was one of the best "old school" looks in history. But so far, 3 games into 2020 they haven't worn them yet. That used to be the home standard, from the Otto Graham, Jim Brown, Leroy Kelly, skip a few years with the orange pants, through the Bernie Kosar eras. Almost every important game in team history was played in the all whites.
Hi Carseye - I love it when teams announce at the beginning of the season what unis they are going wear throughout the season, just like the Bengals did here: www.bengals.com/news/bengals-2020-uniform-schedule-color-rush-dates-revealed. I like it because it suggests to me that their is some thought and planning, not just a whim. But I can't seem to find an equivalent announcement by the Browns for 2020. If they don't announce ahead of time, then we will have to wait and watch. The people at the Gridiron Uniform Database www.gridiron-uniforms.com/GUD/about.shtml do a great summary of each uniform worn by every team - their 2020 season summary will be available some time in the next 3-4 months. Thanks - Scott
Hi Pyro - Many thanks for the comment! Maybe you know this already, but here's a bit of info about Brownie the Elf. This blog posting tells a pretty good story and gives a nice bit of Cleveland Browns info re Brownie the Elf: sportsmascots.fandom.com/wiki/Brownie_the_Elf_(Cleveland_Browns) This Wikipedia page explains in more accurate detail what a Brownie is and where it came from. It doesn't tie back to the Cleveland Browns, but given that an easy nickname for the Browns would be the Brownies and given that there's a mythical elf-like figure known as Brownie, it's easy to see how the football Browns adopted some of the Brownie the Elf folklore and wove it into their own story. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brownie_(folklore)
This video is missing the most important aspect of the Browns colors--why Brown & Orange? Who came up with the concept initially?... if you recall, the Browns uniforms were always all White--white helmets, white jerseys and pants. Well it all started when the Browns training camps were at Bowling Green University starting at inception in 1946. Paul Brown respected the highly thought of Falcons head coach Doyt Perry and their compelling brown and orange uniforms including an orange helmet with a brown and white stripe down the middle. Paul adopted the BG colors for his new pro team in the early 50's and the rest is history. The Browns owe their colors to the national champion BG Falcons (from '59) or today.....they'd still be all white. You guys left out the most important part of the story.
Great video.. This video needs to be sent to ATTN:/ EA Sports Madden 15 team... They don't have a clue of what the Browns throwback NFL uniforms is all about...
Love this vid. I like the new orange. And the new pants. The brown jerseys and orange pants combo is great. The jerseys are so-so. Personally, I think they should've just kept the jersey design the same with the exception of the new orange and new block font (without that upshadow business.)
Fortunately I see their new ones being nothing more than pure desperation; the past 22 years and counting going back to Modell's Big Announcement have been an embarrassment not fit for words, so let's fling this crap against the wall and see if it sticks because why the hell not? I think the new ones look like something scribbled down with crayons by a 12 year old with ADHD and one day very soon someone will come to their senses and try to make it seem like these abominations never existed. The change in the colors is subtle enough that I barely notice it, which is fine because the colors were never a problem to begin with. Really for as simple as they were, the Browns have had very nice looking uniforms throughout their history....until now. And I imagine they will return to some variation of them after another front office house-cleaning or two. There's nothing wrong with simple. Just did too much losing in it I guess.
I feel like I'm the only one that loves the browns uniforms LOL
Bring back the old uniforms.
They're coming back April 15th 2020
Their colors reminds me of Reese's chocolate
The Browns colors reminds me of the 1985-1990 San Diego Padres colors xD

@@randybriggs8572The Padres uniforms were brown and yellow from 1969-1984 they were brown and orange from 1985-1990

Wish they would've worn white pants more, with both jerseys. The orange pants are okay some of the time but not 15 out of 17 games.

what do u mean without a logo there helmet is the logo
They meant no logo on the helmet
As a Cleveland Browns fan, I feel that the Browns don't have a logo. To me the orange helmet is not a logo

@@ScottSillcox no prob Scott...thank you--your post was cool

agreed
the browns should have a light orange helmet with a dark brown football logo on the helmet
If they put a logo on that helmet they're not the Browns anymore
When I see the 1980s Cleveland Browns uniform I think of Brach's corn candy. Do they even make those anymore?

Trust me. We have an official logo. (Hint: the arrow isn't just decoration.)

Look at my first response. The "
Lost their team for SEVERAL years...it was three
Well said Robert - there was no Browns team for three seasons - 1996, 1997 and 1998.
