An Orange once? He used a lot of orange amps for many years, including the famous 2007 reunion
Jimmy has definitely used Orange amps in last handful of years, I think he used them during the O2 show and he was playing through one in It Might Get Loud!
Fantastic videos, glad someone is finally doing something like this. It's a great education on what different petals and amps do to tone as well as guitars, thanks and keep it up!
you are an awesome duo. You make good sounds and your personalities work so well together. Thumbs up a gazillian times. But TH-cam will only allow one.
I'd say you nailed it for sure! The sound when rolling back the tone for Whole Lotta Love was bang on, and of course the Chorus jingle for the start of the solo on Stairway was also perfect. I think the only way you could get closer is actually having Page's fingers on the gear.
I'd say tied with GnR. Tell me a more iconic rock band than Guns N Roses, what with Axl and Slash with their bandana and top hat, they gave rock n roll it's swagger, whilst Led gave it it's heaviness, it's oomph, they and Floyd pretty much ruled the 70's sound, and influenced tons of people to this day. They both contributed hugely to rock n roll and I don't think it would be nearly what it is without them.
Want to be surprised by a Page tone? Vox AC-15, wah, big muff, Gibson ES-335 clone (preferably an Ibanez). Low output pickups of the semi-hollow body and the reactivity of the AC-15 make for good starting points in his tone, followed by setting the muff halfway on tone, minimum on gain, and maximum on volume and running it all the time. It drives the hell out of the amp, gives you that really classic low-output humbucker sound that he had, and is loud as hell. That whole setup probably costs about 1100 Euro.
my sons vox 15 and tokai goldtop with p-90s come real close to pagey tone.. it has been said that p-90s get close to de-magnetized pafs like the ones page had in the 70s played through certain amps. my son gets some hair-raisingly page - like tones when jamming.
Don't know if a Marshall would be my first choice. Sure, he used them a lot on stage (among other 4x12 stacks from other brands), but most of his studio work was performed with a variety of combo amplifiers. I personally would opt for a fender blues junior or vox ac15 + a drive pedal then
Hi fellas this concept is nice because many guitarist have their favourite guys and try and emulate their sound.Another company Sweetwater I believe has a fellow doing something similar as far as artist gear on a budget, but there's always room for more and you guys have your own style.good work !!
Last 2015 I bought this Epiphone Traditional Pro (same burst color in the video) thinking I needed a Les Paul because I'm a big fan of Jimmy Page. And also i love the coil tapping and zebra pickups on this guitar. Now I just saw this video accidentally and out of curiosity I just watched it, when I saw them picking up a Les Paul, my heart jumped when they took the same guitar that I have. On my mind, I was like, "come on! please! please! pick it up! pick. it. up!" haha I'm so happy seeing the guitar I purchased last year being used to copy Jimmy Page's sound!
Of course Jimmy had NO coil tap/ phase reversal stuff in Led Zeppelin. That came way later POST Zeppelin.. Jimmy Page Tribute guitars are all 'Period Incorrect' for Led Zeppelin. They are modelled on his Solo Career. See my comment above to duplicate his #1 Les Paul.. I replicate the Madison Square Garden 1973 tone on my channel if you're interested
You guys nailed "Wholle lotta of love", I guess it's all about rolling the tone and volume in the beginning!!! Awesome to see Matt playing some riffs as well, great job guys

Once again, you guys nailed it. Really fun segment...."more please". I know you guys are guitarists, but how about a "Sounds like Bass Player" episode? Jaco, Geddy, Entwhistle, Squire, ...so many to choose from. Great job, Cheers!
Yeah I'm must admit, on its own it's not amazing. But we literally replicated but as close as we could. Don't forget, both recording equipment and the gear itself has come a looooooong way haha!

I like the sound likes series, but this in particular i didnt like at all, i think if you gonna try to "replicate" the early zep tone, you should go with pretty much small tube amp and a tone bender or some brit fuzz like and control the volume of the pot of the guitar to get the crunch or lead sound, and of course, the hand of the person playing the guitar, that part is the most important of all. Cheers
Great job guys. I think you got VERY close, considering the budget you had to work with. But then that Gibson (Epiphone) / Marshall combination is THE classic rock sound anyway.
finally someone who plays Whole Lotta Love right is not metal, its rock, so its not that distorted, and it more individual notes than two or 3 note riffs

Very good video. It should be noted that Mr. Page played a Telecaster on the first three albums and some of the fourth. The Stairway to Heaven solo was a Telecaster also, I have heard. Our hometown boy, Mr. Joe Walsh, gave him the famous Gibson Les Paul everyone knows.
JIMMY PAIGE USED ORANGE AMPS MORE THEN ONCE, YOU CAN SEE THEM IN THE MSG SHOW AND CELEBRATION DAY, AND I THINK HE USED THEM WHEN HE DID THE 1 SONG IN THE FOO FIGHTERS WEMBLY GIG

If not how do you feel about doing one?
Tanks for the fun and informative vids...
Sound like primus, bass and guitar!
Enjoyed this one immensely
Do a sounds like Tom Morello. That would be sick if you haven't already!
Best ever ... Playing it over and over
Page used Orange on the Celebration Day concert
I think it was an old pa type head, sounded wicked with all the Amps he had running
Keep up the series guys. Really loving it. much appreciated
you should do a sounds like bass edition!
+Eric Eckhart Absolutely. Then they could finally do some punk bands.
+quasarpuffs I'd love to see then tackle a les claypool sound
Eric Eckhart Yeah, that would be cool too. I love Primus.
Eric Eckhart They could also do Joy Division. Peter Hook played a lot of the guitar parts on his bass.
Definitely great job on this one though guys, that Whole Lotta Love solo tones is spot on, as is the presolo chorus chord progression for Stairway.
"Sounds like Gary Moore from the 80s" - who's with me?
Please keep making these videos, love the parts you explain how you reach the tone with amp levels and pedal settings. Please could we have sound like Bernard Butler early Suede or Johnny Marr of the Smiths.
You didn't pick a violin bow→_→LOL
5:07 someone's playing the solo to you shook me all night long
Sound like Warren Haynes - Now that would be a challenge for £1500.
I love these sounds like series! It would be really cool to see and hear more options and comparing different gear for that particular sound, I mean I would certainly watch it even if the video was twice as long or more.
sound like Kiko loureiro of Angra/megadeth
Very good video. It should be noted that Mr. Page played a Telecaster on the first three albums and some of the fourth. The Stairway to Heaven solo was a Telecaster also, I have heard. Our hometown boy, Mr. Joe Walsh, gave him the famous Gibson Les Paul everyone knows.
Not at all! Jimmy Page started to use Les Paul on led zeppelin II
sound like jimi hendrix?
JIMMY PAIGE USED ORANGE AMPS MORE THEN ONCE, YOU CAN SEE THEM IN THE MSG SHOW AND CELEBRATION DAY, AND I THINK HE USED THEM WHEN HE DID THE 1 SONG IN THE FOO FIGHTERS WEMBLY GIG
Orange amp for the theremin in msg
Jimmy used a tele originally
And Supro amps as well in the studio
+mandolingrass it would've been way more interesting if they had done the studio stuff he us
Especially on the stairway to heaven solo.
First album Telecaster and Supro
you guys look like you're having alot of fun! i've seen 4 or 5 of this series of vids and they have really helped me understand a few tone tricks. Thanks for doing this!
