Lex is an editing genius. I was thinking about my ramblings and wondered if she could ever put together a video that made sense. And BTW, Lex and Riot are the real deal. Kind, friendly, and real. I’m truly fortunate to have met them.
I’m loving your build, I have a few years until I hit the road, well as in retired. I’m a truck driver who lives out of my Kenworth. Planning on doing something just like you and Lex have done. I just wanted to say thanks for sharing your home and hats off to an ingenious built, I believe you are a genius!
I love your build Dan. How did you get the bolts in for the other bar holder on the door? I purchased on too...I just don't know how it's bolted to the trailer rib. Thank you so much for the additional ideas for my conversion :-)
@@sarah_n_tank_girl I screwed mine to the frame. It is inline with the row of screws that run vertically. I actually removed one of the screws and used that hole and added one more screw below it. It’s not as strong as bolts, but this is not intended to keep the door shut. It’s just to keep opportunists away.
I loved this interview! No swear words necessary. I like his slide window covers, his rods, made of electrical conduit rather than purchased shower rods to save $ and be a lot stronger. The water jug system is genius. The way he thought to refill his gas bottles to again, save $$. And most of all I love how respectful he is to you and his gorgeous dog! Keep it up, please Lex.
Yes! I was watching this thinking of what a contrast in "vibe" (for lack of a better term) between the last fella she interviewed and this one. Dan is inspiring!
@@bryant8635 Yes, so you felt it too. I especially liked that how was respectful to Lex and her followers. Although she didn't seem to be upset by the last guy so I'm not trying to be judgmental. To each his own. I love her though, she's just a little younger than my youngest daughter so I guess the protective Mama in me kicks in.
The gentleman featured here should sign up to be an Amazon Associate. If he has a channel or website that is. He can earn a bit of commission. And I LOVE his build!! It seems really roomy and cozy and he has everything one needs in a home! He is very smart and personable too. Lots of ingenuity - one of my favorite builds ever!
Wow. It's amazing how much he has in the trailer, but it doesn't seem too crowded. Great build Dan. You're right, when you build it yourself you get exactly what you want and need.
Dan is one cool guy, and that is because he isnt trying to be cool ! Very creative and intelligent solutions.. He has figured out the most important thing.. RV labeled stuff if Rip Off Priced Junk... . Big Thumbs up.
Them windows covers are great, im surprised when asked what he liked about living in the trailer he didn't say it's like a tree fort for big kids lol. If he doesn't have it in that trailer you don't need it, great build!!
WOOT WOOT! Dan is a genius! I love the interviews and tours Lex. :-) What a sweetheart couple Dan and Jill are rescuing all the dogs. Dakota is beautiful! And I love that he has big pictures of his pack, he must miss them a lot. Jill wanting him to follow his dreams says a lot about her and their marriage. He had sooooo many excellent solutions. I agree, Amazon should pay him ;-) Thank you for brightening our day Lex and hugs to Riot. :-)
I loved watching this tour. When you feature another nomad it’s the combination of seeing the rig and hearing their story that makes the video so enjoyable.
Your best tour yet! I’m going to watch this over and over for ideas on my eventual build. My problem with these tour videos, is well, there great but I tune in for you and your quirky life on the road, so when a week goes by and you drop a tour it’s a letdown for sure that’s all. So make the tours a bonus video and not your only one for the week. Who’s with me on this?
I really enjoyed this tour. He was super energetic about his build and I really enjoyed the fact that he did it on the budget with everyday items. Plus he has a awesome dog!
A couple that takes care of animals that need a home……wonderful! More than his great cargo trailer, his and his wife’s love for animals is really heartwarming.
You are such a good interviewer. You make people comfortable, and let them speak. Dan is a really nice man, and he's right. He is a genius. Great build. Thank you both so much.
I like Dans trailer and his attitude. I couldn’t agree more when he said basically that having those dogs is good for his health. Very soon we’re going to build a 6X12 cargo trailer too. I’m going to use his idea for the sliders to cover the windows, the oil change catcher for the grey water tank, the emt conduit for rods to hang stuff from, and probably the water heater setup. Those were great ideas from a true dog lover. 👍😎
I like how he did his cargo trailer. Loved the pictures of his dog's. I have camphosted, I loved it. I met some wonderful people I still am in contact with today
Great video.... I'm going to use at least two of his ideas: the bicycle sprocket stove top, and the oil change tank for grey water. Also liked his water tank set up. Yup, he wins the "Best Use Of Space" Award.... thanks Lex!!
Lex, thank you for the tour. Dan's build is just full of brilliant practical features. Dan I wish you happy travels! And one more thing; Lex you are a fabulous speaker without adding "like" to every sentence! Thank you!
I've watched this at least twice now. Thanks Lex. I've been in 49 states, but it's taken me a lifetime. I also got to go all over South America and some of Canada.
This is very creative. I've been watching these cargo trailer conversion videos for the past two years, and have designed a bunch of floor plans myself centered mostly around 6x10, 6x12, and 7x14 sizes for when/if I build my own. I have never seen nor never once thought of making a bed like that. That opens up many possibilities
That was a wonderful video. He seems like a sweet guy and his dear friend who isnill had him breaking. That is so wonderful he'll be able to see her! Thank you for sharing. Great video once again. Stay safe
Dan is such a lovely man and so creative with his cargo trailer build! Lex, I really appreciate you posting videos of rigs that you come across. I’m sure most people are pleased to share them with you. I like the simplicity of yours but it’s fun to see other interesting solutions to living in a small space.
Thank you so much, Lex, for introducing us to Mr. Dan. I think I, myself, would follow Dans build. It does work to refill the little bottles from a 20 lb bottle. Just don’t exceed the small bottle weight. Love and respect to you guys.
Lex: it's not what WE think you should do to improve your rig - it's what YOU think. You live in it, we don't. Watch enough videos on what people have done with their rig (any platform rig!) - and you get a real sense of the creativity of people and different ways of solving the same problems. And they all work for them. Yes, the addition of interviewing others is always interesting and you did a good job of this one, letting Dan tell his story and you staying in the background. Well done.
Coming from a truck, this probably feels like a mansion! Being able to cook AND SHOWER! OMG! That alone is a luxury! If he gets bored and wants to try "the never ending shower" that filters and recycles the water. I think Snow & Curt had a pretty amazing setup for that. His wife is an angel for giving him the freedom to go explore. Especially in uncertain times, who knows what will happen. Thank you for this tour - so many great ideas, and he made space for his best friend! I hope he gets to be with his other friend soon! It breaks my heart knowing so many are struggling. Stay well, Be safe. Peace.
What a wonderful man Dan is. Happy Trails brother to you and wife Jill. Always be safe. Thanks for showcasing such a clever, humorous, and fine gentleman Lex. Phil
The best thing about Dan’s build is Dan. That’s where it all came from. His thoughts on the narrow countertops are spot on. Especially in a 6x12. $7,000 in that rig and build is quite a feat. I’m still planning a 7x16 and l will easily end up spending double that. My favorite thing about these tour videos is the willingness of people to just invite us on in to their creation. It really is the biggest draw to this way of life. Simple, friendly, sharing and caring. The best of the best that the human race has to offer on the most basic level.
Dan is your viewer demographic. We are looking for great ideas and inspiration.

Such a joy to be able to ‘tour’ your cozy home, Dan! I hope to meet you for real when you make it up to AK!
Lex, you could make a video about how to boil water and I'd watch every minute of it!
Me too!
I want to be Dan's friend. He seems like such a wholesome and kind dude. I wish him all the best in his adventures!
You can tell he is a great dude. Just very personable..
I agree!
Really nice.
The trailer is good but Dan's great!
Interviews and trailer tours are great, just don't short us our RIOT time.

Really like his using the oil catch as a grey water catch. Very clever. Nice guy. Like his thinking and doing.
I liked Dan's demeanor. His cargo van seems to have everything a person would need. Very cool.
Dan had some great idea's! Thanks for sharing.

Wow you got nice rig sir. 👊✌

One of the best for sure. I love those window slide for security, especially for a female traveler.
I always enjoy everyones own
ingenuity that they come up with.
👍
Terrific layout. This guys got it together, with some good inexpensive ideas.
Nice and laid-back.
yup, WAY better to build your own, exactly the way you want it, and everything is fixable by YOU.
I love how he did all that for 7 grand! Did he mention how he goes to the bathroom though?
@@ScottSharpe2121 There was a pull out porta potty in the shower stall.

Love a build like this, so clean and simple and efficient.
I gotta admit when I saw the title my first reaction was "ho hum, another CT conversion video". But this really is pretty unique. Good job Lex.
Thank you lex and Dan.
BEAUTIFUL GREAT ENERGY.
God bless this man and his wife back home for the dog and cat rescues.
Thumbs up.

Dan, Just seems like someone I know as a friend. A kind soul and great build. thanks.
The used oil pan, is a great idea for grey water. Thanks
Variety is the spice of life. I enjoyed Dan and your tour of his rig. Thank you.
I wish I could like this twice. So much practical use of space

Great interview Lex. Dan has some great ideas. The window covers are a great idea.
Very creative use of a very small space. Dogs make life better. 🥰

Superb interview Lex!!
Dan is brilliant in bringing his design ideas together!
Everything fits and functions very well!
Dan did a great job. Only thing I’d change would be...I’d get a tandem axle trailer.
He did a fabulous job. Love it. Will pray for his friend. Peace!
Great interview and tour. That oil drip pan for gray water was a great idea. One of many good ideas that Dan had.
Unfortunately, she didn't show it for those of us who have no idea what an oil drip pan looks like.
Yes. I like you adding these in.
I loved watching this tour. When you feature another nomad it’s the combination of seeing the rig and hearing their story that makes the video so enjoyable.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Lex, nice video. Glad Jill "allowed" Dan to buy this trailer. Very innovative build. Window covers are great. Shower drain pan is wonderful. Very 🙂
