My father had amazing grace played on bagpipes at his funeral , 21 gun salute as well . he was a nam vet came home with 2 purple hearts a silver and bronze star and left a part of himself in those jungles. He never missed a trip to the wall on the anniversary of his return to the states. It was the only time I ever saw him cry .
Ain't very many folks still here with us that feel this and understand what it truly means, no matter the branch of service. Some things are universal...
July 3d 07' I was at FOB Echo in AL Diwaniyah, Iraq. We got the crap rocketed and mortered out of us for 3 hours straight. I can remember talking to God and telling him if I survived that I would build a pond next to my house and get some ducks and never leave. 3 weeks after I was discharged I started to put the pond in. I go to the VA hospital and the Feed store now. Don't know if it's my best life, but it's a good one.
Never forget that there’s some of us that still get choked up thinking of the sacrifices of the warriors like you, as well as the ones who didn’t make it back 🫡 🇺🇸
Proud of ya Sarge, I'm busting my ass to get my "ducks". Glad you found your place... Echo was a bitch, rockets always a possibility; Echo took a friend of mine, William VanOsdol.... he was an awesome youngman with talent coming out of his ears. I'll never forget him. Congratulations brother, never give up your peace.
he is noy just a hero..... also my brother all who served we are family my e 4 mafia brother Spc Barbieri Till we meet in vallaga your brother .... Bco 1/506 Combat 11b . I remember And we're always now when I come to boise ....

Thank you brothers for your service & awesome song, truth we survived in a job where men die at a early age,we owe it to them to live the best live we can Navy Gunner 1982-1992
First of all, thank you for your Service to our country. I am the host of the Brushpile Fishing show, and every year in Ohio we put on a Veteran's fishing tournament. For the past 4 years, we have donated to the Travis Mills Foundation. This year we will partner with the National Veteran and Memorial Museum in Columbus. Proceeds will go to Face the Fight, dealing with Veteran suicide. This is your personal invite to this event! Great song, God Bless
I remember them playing Toby Keith's "Red White and Blue" every night before we went to sleep in basic training, 2002. Turned 21 in Iraq. 21 total years of service...and I still hope to figure everything out someday soon.
This is a new breed of combat veteran, and a new embrace of them. Prior generations of veterans didn’t share this optimism and welcome. I’m glad I belong to this new cohort, and that I made it out alive. I relish the chance to humbly and openly share my experiences, if only to talk to myself, or, better yet, change someone’s mind. Either way I’ll just keep moving and taking it all in.
Let me start by thanking you both for your service. I thank God you made it out alive because the message you just related can make a huge difference in many soldiers that still dont know what to do after they come home. Its also a wake up call to the civilians that do not appreciate your sacrifice for there freedom. Thank you, God Bless and God speed.
God bless America and all our fallen soldiers. The fiddle solo always brings tears to my eyes. Keep on keeping on War Hippies, great lyrics and music. Helps soothes the soul
Good Morning To All Here. Hugs and Much Love today. Remember our Fallen, Amen. Especially those that came Home to a Mental war. Lord Grant them Peace. 🙏💝
Awesome song. Thank You Both for your service. Made me cry and brought me back to seeing my cousin's flag drapped coffin come home. Also agree every soldier should hear this song. What you guys went through no one but other soldiers can truly understand. May God Bless and keep you always❤🇺🇲❤🇺🇸
Was never in Combat,...., but I had the privilege seeing what COMBAT does to the Human vessel, (71G) ,..., youth squandered by those that would never risk their own. I saw so much , ENOUGH to know I was a blessed Male, and after the Army, a path was waiting for me to get back on it. So many soldiers, combat vets and those that supported them in the military, Supply, Medical, Administration, ...., we all that "made it out" in our own ways were changed, pray for the ones who did not find that path waiting for them,..., I see it all day long at the base and VA hospital, everyone should walk the halls of a VA hospital for a day,... one of my favorite "less heard of" bands. They do not have to imagine what they sing about. Bless the Soldier.
What an INCREDIBLE find! Thank you fellas for SERVING, and coming back... and bringing US these stories! The fiddler, well... he is certainly channeling Charlie Daniels! Charlie is certainly smiling down on this song, and you two!
As a new fan of war hippies this song really hits the heart and soul I may not know what I means to be a military member but have been by those that have I have family and friends who have been there and know some of the things that can be in the thoughts of the ones who have served my father was a volunteer firefighter and every chance he had he shook the hands of the ones who have made it back home sadly he lost his life a few years back from covid but I will always remember the inspiration he taught me even my grandfathers who did serve God bless all the troops who over seas right now and even the ones who have made I back home thank you for your service
The Veteran community is incredibly. The more important issue is for Americans to keep our "representatives" in line for the American public over corporate interests and the super rich that keep manipulating financial markets. The veteran community are people that volunteer to better themselves and train to defend America. It's our duty at home to make sure it's for the right reasons.
Wow... I don't know if you realize it... but you guys just set a standard in the Country Music industry 💯... I'm baffled, all of it is amazing, and your newest with Mr. TRAVIS 😢😢😢❤❤. Letsssssss Gooooooooo📻📻📻📻📻📻📻📻👊👊
Scott and Donnie saw you at Honeywell in Wabash Indiana May 23rd, this was one of the most moving songs I've heard about our patriots in a long time. You could see it in the audience. Good Luck on your journey to the top! You will make it because you already have your priorities straight GOD, family, country & then job! God bless your band!
A brother just shared this with me. Dang, what an awesome song. The sentiment of the song being matched with their vocals and violin/guitar is felt in the heart. Thank you, gentlemen, for creating a masterpiece. It resignates with so many of us!
God bless you both and thank you for your service! I saw y’all this week with Travis Tritt and you both were great!! Thanks for meeting us after the show also. 🙏🏻 🇺🇸

GOD BLESS OUR GREAT MILITARY 😔😔🇺🇸🇺🇸
Tears. Chills. Love this! Thank you for what you are doing to honor all those who have sacrificed for our freedoms. Thank you Donnie and Scott!
There are good reasons why warriors and mothers were the highest honoured and most revered people in Sparta.
I remember them playing Toby Keith's "Red White and Blue" every night before we went to sleep in basic training, 2002. Turned 21 in Iraq. 21 total years of service...and I still hope to figure everything out someday soon.
Godspeed Patriots!

I’m writing this before music even started. Your testimonials of raw truth makes the song. The good tunes thrown in are just an extra bonus.
