TOR PeRX C6 weighs significantly less than the C7's. just a penny for your thoughts. 3170ish pounds vs 3500ish. chevy needs to redesign the corvette and make it lose some weight in my opinion. looks great and has a nice interior tho.

falchulk with a change of tires and brakes, someone lapped a faster time on nurbergring with a zr1. for a change of tires and upgraded brakes, id take the 350pound lighter c6. the weight makes a difference.
TH-camr What track is the C6 Z06 faster around exactly? Chevy hasn't gotten a clean run for the C7Z at the Ring, but it's faster at every other track I've seen.
It's not that you can't race a SC or TC car in an Endurance race... FI endurance cars have their days and N/A has theirs... The issue is the C7 wasn't designed to race for long reliably... that's why people had to mod it and later GM did the recall on them I believe.

Meh... I dunno about that now..... The LS7s weren't exactly the most reliable performance engine GM made. The clutch master cylinder was garbage. Rear axle clutch packs will pretty much sing you a song on slow hard turns... When everything works right it's great...but the C6 had enough issues in it's generation through most models where I wouldn't buy another for anything other than turning it to a drag/track car.

The C6 ZR1 is truly the last of a generation of lightweight sports cars it weighs 3,300 lbs the 6 sp manual ALL the gears are forward gears no overdrive gears it has old school SFI not direct injection this car will never be duplicated again due to emissions and EPA regulations not to mention the LS9 is the pinnacle of GM engineering.
That makes a lot of sense. The 05-06 Cobalts have a different steering wheel. The 3 spoke steering(Same as C6 Corvettes which started in 05) was in 07-10 Cobalts.

*Fun Fact*: Most terminator owners upgrade to ZR1 if they can but default on Z06. David is right on the money when he says its a more civilized version of 03/04 Cobra. I'm not a vette guy, but I wouldn't mind owning ZR1 at all.

Can't hide the smile on your face, that said a thousand words. My opinion for the buck its the best vette made. Pick up a used one for $60,000 drop in cam, pulley upgrade, intake, exhaust and tune and now you have 750rwhp, total beast.
I have same short shifter in my c6zr1. It’s on point. I love how notchy it is. You missed the fact that c6zr1 has front widebody. I haven’t found a single review on TH-cam that states that. Don’t worry Doug missed it too. You hit a lot more specs than he did. He seems to only care about interior of car. Which is my least concern 😂

ABtheAgent i really doubt that. 755hp.. i know the c7 is heavier but the power difference and the downforce created by the new aero. it would mess with the top speed but when you have over 100 more hp it wont be noticed too much compared to the c6. imagine taking both on a backroad. the c7 has better engine cooling. basically they are both beasts but lets give the c7 Zr1 some time to be tested out more around the nurburgring

My greatest experience with a Zr1 was when I was valeting for a fundraiser at the Wright-Patt Air Force Museum and this guy in a Zr1 said he wanted to park himself. We told him it was fine with us, but to make sure he used the self park lot and not the valet lot. Of course, he decided screw us and parked in the valet lot anyway. He thought he was situated so that no one would be parking next to him, but we had other ideas. During the break between when guests arrive and leave, a bunch of us went and got our cars and parked right next to him. We were all perfectly spaced within our lines, but when he came out at the end of the night he was so pissed. He looked all around his Zr1 for scratches or whatever. A couple gals and guys from the base stopped by and had a good laugh about it. A pretty good night overall too :)

It'd be awesome to see you do a 90's ZR1 with the LT5. Probably hard to come by, but an amazing car for its time. If I'm not mistaken, same horsepower as an 03 Z06
Best Corvette ever made was the C4 ZR1 King of the Hill and the subsequent Callaway Sledgehammer Just look at that short wheelbase and Lotus engineering
8 years ago i was offered a C4 ZR1 for about 14k US. Canadian car, roughly 15,000miles. I passed it up because i was looking for a C5 Z or C6. Kicking myself in the ass now.
The later zo6's got all of the handling goodies that came with the zr1 (tires, magnetic ride control, ect) and it was all in a lighter car. So I'm thinking the later zo6's handle better.
The Z06 might handle better since it does have an aluminum chassis. But I think the LS9 might be more reliable than the LS7 motor, and it's kind of been proven. LS3/LS9 motors are damn near bulletproof.
ZR1 uses same aluminum chassis as ZO6. With plenty of magnesium and carbon fiber too. The ZO6 is no better at handling than a ZR1, just easier to control with less hp/tq
This video makes me happy.. I own a gt mustang but also love Chevy.. I love supra gtrs Evo's and most all imports also.. I don't discriminate.. I love all makes and models of cars.. I feel so bad for people who hate on a car just because of the manufacturer.. Then again I can appreciate all types of cars because I have driven most all of them.. So dont knock a car till you drive it

Fire Squad mustangs from the 80s all the way to early 2ks are actually probably the worst looking muscle cars. Fox body's were by far the worst looking, looks like a vw
C7s are absolutely gorgeous but the C6 ZR1 and I dare say even the C6 Z06 are quite iconic and make you think twice when roll up on one on the street. My GT500 will be paid off in 1 month and at that time I will begin searching for a C6 Z06!!!!
You always hear "ls motors are so reliable" yes but don't forget David that our coyote 5.0 motors are turning out to be just as reliable too😉👍🏻 I just wish we could do a cam change and sound as good at idle though😢 we have to change 4 cams and Hardly get any change in idle sound for like 1,500$😖

8 years ago i was offered a C4 ZR1 for about 14k US. Canadian car, roughly 15,000miles. I passed it up because i was looking for a C5 Z or C6. Kicking myself in the ass now.

The later zo6's got all of the handling goodies that came with the zr1 (tires, magnetic ride control, ect) and it was all in a lighter car. So I'm thinking the later zo6's handle better.
The Z06 might handle better since it does have an aluminum chassis. But I think the LS9 might be more reliable than the LS7 motor, and it's kind of been proven. LS3/LS9 motors are damn near bulletproof.
ZR1 uses same aluminum chassis as ZO6. With plenty of magnesium and carbon fiber too. The ZO6 is no better at handling than a ZR1, just easier to control with less hp/tq

you dont buy a sports car for gas milage, HOWEVER, good gas milage damn sure helps in being able to drive it around for a while
My 1999 FRC. Heads/Cam/Intake/Full exhaust LS1 made 465rwhp/425rwtq, and I got 33 MPG highway, and around 16-18 city. Wasn't too shabby!

at least this gen does. A lot of torque plus a very tall 6th gear means at 70mph you're spinning around 1600 rpm
most of them do the c5 did the c6 did idk about the c7 but im pretty sure with the 7th gear
the cam and upper pulley dont help.

Fire Squad mustangs from the 80s all the way to early 2ks are actually probably the worst looking muscle cars. Fox body's were by far the worst looking, looks like a vw
C7s are absolutely gorgeous but the C6 ZR1 and I dare say even the C6 Z06 are quite iconic and make you think twice when roll up on one on the street. My GT500 will be paid off in 1 month and at that time I will begin searching for a C6 Z06!!!!

You always hear "ls motors are so reliable" yes but don't forget David that our coyote 5.0 motors are turning out to be just as reliable too😉👍🏻 I just wish we could do a cam change and sound as good at idle though😢 we have to change 4 cams and Hardly get any change in idle sound for like 1,500$😖
