The light fury's eyes weren't sharpened while she was with toothless But when toothless and the other dragons were under the control of drago's bewilderbeast their pupils were sharpened. The other alpha bewilderbeast scared toothless but still didnt control him as the pupils stayed dialated
The LF's pupils sharpen at times to portray emotions however, when the dragons are loyal to Toothless, they follow him. I think the sharp pupils are more indicative of mind-control rather than manipulation (veeeeery similar). It's like someone who is charming can sweet talk anyone into doing anything but it is not mind control.
Ok so the main difference shown between toothless and the other alphas is he was more like the white bewilderbeast in the sense that yes he could control the dragons but he doesn't and instead they listen to him because they respect him. Especially noting he freed them from the evil one and doesn't use the cat eye mind wipe on them if he even can

It has been shown that Toothless can indeed turn it off when he wants to when he was playing with Stormfly with Hiccup's leg he was teasing her with his alpha powers and when the Light Fury was captured and would have been shot he called off the dragons and yes you could argue that, that was just another act of his powers but anyone of those dragons could have thought the best act of loyalty would have been to fight they are dragons after all. I think his powers are all about when and how he wants to use them, so I don't think forcing his mate to like him would be how he wants it especially when toothless has proven that it takes a lot to earn his trust.

No. There's no indication this happened against her will in the movie, nor that she actively fought the "Alpha Power", which given her being a fury variety dragon, we would have seen in the same way we saw toothless fighting the control of the Red dragon. It's made clear that the light fury is an equal to toothless, and we can infer that there's no reason 2 alphas, especially when pair bonding, can't coexist in a symbiotic relationship. If anything, as a pair, their alpha power should multiply since 2 alphas demanding the same thing should, in theory, work better than 1, meaning it's mutually beneficial for them to share their status.

Idk if he used mind control on her why wouldnt he have done it the first time they met in the forest or when he was trying to impress her with his mating dance? Plus when a dragon is being controled their pupils slit, which is something the Light fury's eyes never do. Plus, when Toothless was fighting against the former Alpha, you could see his resistance. You can't see that in the Lightfury.
Here's the thing; an alpha dragon doesn't normally have some magical power to manipulate and mind control other dragons. That's an ability the bewilderbeasts and some larger alpha SPECIES possessed, but toothless doesn't have that ability. The Red Death from the first movie controlled its dragons with a mixture of fear and a weaker ability to bend the will of other dragons, and the bewilderbeasts had a much stronger ability to subjugate other dragons and basically mind control them than the Red Death. The good bewilderbeast had the loyalty of the other dragons from respect and mutual protection, but Dragos' bewilderbeast subjugated the other dragons by force with its will-bending and mind controlling abilities alone, and the dragons essentially had no free will. Toothless isn't an alpha species, he's a "titan wing" which is a rare variant that most dragon species have which is just stronger than the normal version of that species and has some different ability or coloration. -The dragons obey toothless out of respect and loyalty, but they have free will. He can't subjugate them and mind control them like some other larger dragon species can, they just follow toothless because of trust and kinship. -The dragons obeyed the Red Death do to its weak and limited ability to control them, combined with fear. They still(mostly) had minds of their own and returned to the nest regularly to feed it, but fear of being killed is what mainly kept them in line. -Bewilderbeasts have a much stronger sort of mind-controlling ability than the Red Death did and other large dragons found in other HTTYD media, and it was strong enough to have near complete control over the dragons against their will. The good bewilderbeast didn't make much use of this ability since the dragons already trusted and fought for it without needing to be subjugated, but it was strong enough for bewilderbeasts that the one Drago controlled relied entirely on it to control other dragons because it was all the bewilderbeast needed. *TL;DR* *Some large dragons species do have an ability to mind control other normal dragons, but Toothless does not. Toothless is an alpha, but night furies aren't an alpha SPECIES. Toothless is a titan wing variant of the night fury, but that isn't related to him being the alpha. He physically can't make another dragon do anything by force, he remains the alpha because of his individual strength and because other dragons simply respect and trust him.*
You're not the only one reading into something like this, the internet does this all the time, Although sometimes unironically. Nevertheless, in the second film I think they showed that the previous alpha dragon had to send some sort of signal in order to manipulate the will of the other dragons so I don't think Toothless ever really did that.

Counter points: do we know if the light Fury is an alpha? Nothing states that she can't be, so would naturally be able to resist. If toothless was manipulating her, why go through all the trouble of winning her over and flirting? Especially as they were alone, so it wasn't for anyone else's benefit. You also are putting human morality to animals. While highly intelligent, the dragons are still animals. She's likely driven by instinct, to select the best mate. Seeing as he's the alpha, and another Fury, and already interested in her, she is quite likely to want that.

Well, if the alpha attempted to court her and not push things then his desire would have been to earn her consent, so if he was influencing her subconsciously it would have been for her to make the decision. The important part is that he attempted to get consent as much as physically possible in his situation.
Good theory and very possible but there are a couple of things that distract me from it first that bewilderbeast controlled the dragons in two ways with a roar and with some signal of his antennae on his forehead because we see them shaking and producing a strange sound that looks special to a bewilderbeast-type dragon while Toothless controls dragons only by roaring because we see in the movie how dragons listen to him only when he roars at them and not in any other way. So I think Toothless won the light fury with his charm but it must have taken him a long time to charm her although it seems that they got really close as they flew together.
I don't understand the problem here. This is how animal mating works in nature. The alpha male of a group mates with the females (usually all of them) and it's not always consensual. Just because they're fictional animals doesn't mean they have to follow our self imposed mating rules.

I read this title a thought that my mind had finally jumped ship and left me
Idk if he used mind control on her why wouldnt he have done it the first time they met in the forest or when he was trying to impress her with his mating dance? Plus when a dragon is being controled their pupils slit, which is something the Light fury's eyes never do. Plus, when Toothless was fighting against the former Alpha, you could see his resistance. You can't see that in the Lightfury.
Here's the thing; an alpha dragon doesn't normally have some magical power to manipulate and mind control other dragons. That's an ability the bewilderbeasts and some larger alpha SPECIES possessed, but toothless doesn't have that ability. The Red Death from the first movie controlled its dragons with a mixture of fear and a weaker ability to bend the will of other dragons, and the bewilderbeasts had a much stronger ability to subjugate other dragons and basically mind control them than the Red Death. The good bewilderbeast had the loyalty of the other dragons from respect and mutual protection, but Dragos' bewilderbeast subjugated the other dragons by force with its will-bending and mind controlling abilities alone, and the dragons essentially had no free will. Toothless isn't an alpha species, he's a "titan wing" which is a rare variant that most dragon species have which is just stronger than the normal version of that species and has some different ability or coloration.
-The dragons obey toothless out of respect and loyalty, but they have free will. He can't subjugate them and mind control them like some other larger dragon species can, they just follow toothless because of trust and kinship.
-The dragons obeyed the Red Death do to its weak and limited ability to control them, combined with fear. They still(mostly) had minds of their own and returned to the nest regularly to feed it, but fear of being killed is what mainly kept them in line.
-Bewilderbeasts have a much stronger sort of mind-controlling ability than the Red Death did and other large dragons found in other HTTYD media, and it was strong enough to have near complete control over the dragons against their will. The good bewilderbeast didn't make much use of this ability since the dragons already trusted and fought for it without needing to be subjugated, but it was strong enough for bewilderbeasts that the one Drago controlled relied entirely on it to control other dragons because it was all the bewilderbeast needed.
*TL;DR*
*Some large dragons species do have an ability to mind control other normal dragons, but Toothless does not. Toothless is an alpha, but night furies aren't an alpha SPECIES. Toothless is a titan wing variant of the night fury, but that isn't related to him being the alpha. He physically can't make another dragon do anything by force, he remains the alpha because of his individual strength and because other dragons simply respect and trust him.*

Counter points: do we know if the light Fury is an alpha? Nothing states that she can't be, so would naturally be able to resist.
If toothless was manipulating her, why go through all the trouble of winning her over and flirting? Especially as they were alone, so it wasn't for anyone else's benefit.
You also are putting human morality to animals. While highly intelligent, the dragons are still animals. She's likely driven by instinct, to select the best mate. Seeing as he's the alpha, and another Fury, and already interested in her, she is quite likely to want that.

Good theory and very possible but there are a couple of things that distract me from it first that bewilderbeast controlled the dragons in two ways with a roar and with some signal of his antennae on his forehead because we see them shaking and producing a strange sound that looks special to a bewilderbeast-type dragon while Toothless controls dragons only by roaring because we see in the movie how dragons listen to him only when he roars at them and not in any other way. So I think Toothless won the light fury with his charm but it must have taken him a long time to charm her although it seems that they got really close as they flew together.
I don't understand the problem here. This is how animal mating works in nature. The alpha male of a group mates with the females (usually all of them) and it's not always consensual. Just because they're fictional animals doesn't mean they have to follow our self imposed mating rules.
