- What is the best way to infuse genetic diversity into the wild Mexican wolf population?
Some argue that releasing captive-reared adult wolf pairs into the wild is the best way. But is it really?
Jim deVos, Mexican wolf coordinator for the Arizona Game and Fish Department, discusses the pitfalls of that method and why fostering of wolf pups into wild dens is more effective in the long run. Fostering involves placing captive-born pups into a wild den to be raised with a wild pack.

I camp and fish in the East central region of Arizona. From at least 2020 until now 2024, I have never ever seen a wolf… but boy o boy! They sing me to sleep every night I’m there!
Thank You
Keep up the Good work
You all do good work. Keep it up
This is so nice. Wolves are amazing.
Informative video which would be better without the background music.
You'll be alright...
But the survival rate of foster pups is less than in intact families! Why not consider placing half a litter as fosters and the rest with the parents?
Love to see one in the wild.
With DNA cloning where it is today is it possible to clone Mexican Wolves from specimens in museums to boost genetics?
Will they make there way towards lake Mary or even maybe down near payson?!
My family and friends have already seen foot sign, heard calls, and captured footage on trail cams wolves above the mogollon rim.
@@shamrock5725are you sure they weren’t coyotes?
