Thanks for the rare view of the Halton and Weston Sub aboard VIA Rail. Not often you get a chance to film this from the rear without a locomotive trailing.
As an old Railroader that's retired from Canadian national I watch your videos all the time, I worked a lot of areas in Ontario and British Columbia and I spent a lot of years on the Dundas sub and surrounding areas, there's so many places I can see that you videoed, kind of brings a tear to my eye!! Thank you for posting you made an old guy very nostalgic and very happy! You have the best videos again thank you so much it means a lot to this old man!!
Wow! Thank you so much for this vid! I just caught this in Jan. /23. I love this type of video from the back of a train, uninterupted and clear. It is so great to find Canadian content of this nature, and this length. Fantastic!
Wow !!! That was absolutely terrific. I have filmed on the Halton often and so this was especially neat to see it from the tail end view. Nice also to see what looked like many brand new gons and hoppers from NSC in the freight just as we are make the turn from the Oakville onto the Halton. I was at Scotch Block and saw some of these diverted VIA trains. Very cool !! Thanks. James.
2:30 oh a train! 2:32 you realize it’s MOVING!!! LESGO! 3:25 a cool bridge 8:32 we FINALLY get to see the ENGINE! 8:50 welp…. Bye CN train….. 9:16 can still see the CN off in the distance.. 9:37 is the last point where u can see the CN train’s lights on the horizon 10:57 NEVERMIND! u can see the train on the horizon once again! But yeah….. around 12:10 ya can’t see it no more 17:51 maintenance thingies 24:06 satisfying turn 25:00 sick view Oh and we’re back to double track! 25:45 what’s this??? Triple TRACK? Oh nvm -------------------------- 27:44 *distorted ding* 34:00 CN- spayside 34:34 distorted ding 2 36:14 WY WE STOPPING BRO?! 37:56 it was because a CN train had to go by!!! Thanks for uploading this neat video. This is the only one I have seen that covers most if not all of CN Halton sub. I grew up in Milton from the late 80s to the mid 90s. I lived along Bronte St which runs parallel to the Halton line on the left (starting around the 21:50 mark). The dark apartment building, the grain elevator, the bridge passing over CP Galt sub, followed by the S-turn passing by the shopping mall and prison...all familiar sites to me. Milton has changed a lot since I was a kid. But it's nice to see that these familiar landmarks are still around. It's really cool to see what the entirety of the line looks like from a train view. I only ever saw freight trains traveling this route when I lived there. You definitely lucked out on this trip.
Question for those more in the know, how come they have two crossovers going in the same direction between the same two tracks around 3:10, and then a third not 200ft later??
Not sure about the max speed, I'm thinking it's probably 50ish mph judging by the speed they're going. And the station you're probably referring to is Georgetown.

When I was a CN Trainmaster at Malport 1979-80, the Halton and Weston Subs were part of the territory. Big changes since then

It covers Mile 11 to Mile 49.5 of the Halton
Question for those more in the know, how come they have two crossovers going in the same direction between the same two tracks around 3:10, and then a third not 200ft later??
It’s so multiple trains can cross over at the same time without conflicting with each other.
nice train tour
nice share have a bless day
What's the speed limit on the Halton Sub for passenger trains?
That station where the GO trains are parked is where?
Not sure about the max speed, I'm thinking it's probably 50ish mph judging by the speed they're going. And the station you're probably referring to is Georgetown.
@@chrisvazquez7 I thought Georgetown has a 10mph yard speed restriction
@@shauntakata1762 I think you’re right, but the VIA train was on the main, not in GO’s yard
This was recorded 2 days before my birthday!
Awesome Video Chris!
nice tour po
Where have you been? Liked the St Thomas vids
I moved out to Alberta.
Nice one! Thanks!
That cn train came from Jones Ontario
I don't know about rare. I mean, I feel like I was just on this diversion the other day.
This might happen for the next few weekends since GO is doing work on the lakeshore west line
What was the reason for the diversion?
Planned track work on the Oakville Sub
@@chrisvazquez7 ok
So I guess the flyover is between Norval and the Credit, but how do they expand to 3 tracks through Brampton?
Yes, the flyover should be at Norval. The 3rd track would be added on the left(south platform).
