    Excellent video! Always an underrated pleasure seeing old footage from the glory days of railroading

    That first spot is Tie Camp, that part of the line is newer, it used to be a wider curve and went through a tunnel

    What company logo was on those green box cars around 2:03? I remember seeing those around when I was a kid (early 90s) but haven't since, really. Any idea?

    • @dhdisprsmith2296
      @dhdisprsmith2296  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gee I’m not sure. They’re international containers but I don’t know who the logo belongs to.

    • @patrickgbaird
      @patrickgbaird ปีที่แล้ว +4

      This logo is from Newfoundland's Terra Transport. It was a wholly owned subsidiary of CN that took over all their operations on the island after 1979 up until 1988 when the islands narrow gauge railway was abandoned. CN ran these containers as an Intermodal service starting in the early 80's to try turning a profit in the province in hopes of keeping the rail service going. The containers you saw floating around in the 90's were orphans of sorts. Eventually CN did repaint most of the containers but you can still find a few used as static storage sheds or abandoned out there with that logo.

    What is making the engine sound in the background?

    • @dhdisprsmith2296
      @dhdisprsmith2296  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m a little confused, but all the engine sounds are the actual sounds of the locomotives.

    That’s what trains should sound and look like. With vans “cabooses”. Trains nowadays just sound and look so fake. Something missing when there’s no caboose.

      My Dad was a section foreman for the CN back in the 80’s and I hung around with him at work so I grew up around the railway the better part of my young life. Lots of rides on the old fairmont motorcar through Algonquin Park on the Beachburg Subdivision.
