Hi, thanks for making the video. It is very informative and helpful. However, my own test on the Kingston Canvas React Plus UHS-II card would make the card top 1 on your list. The card I have is 256GB version just purchased from UK Amazon. - Tests with CrystalDiskMark 8.0.4 (Default profile, 1GiB, 5 times): Read: 308MB/s Write: 220MB/s - Tests with CrystalDiskMark 8.0.4 (Real world performance profile, 1GiB - 5 times): Read: 292MB/s Write: 290MB/s - Real world copy and paste test (using a ~51GB file and Samsung 860 pro SSD): Read: 290MB/s (peak) Write: 255MB/s (peak) Speeds do not drop as the card gets filled (tested upto 86%) The 256GB card was £80 compared with Sony's TOUGH v90 128GB costing £219, the value is really good. Only time will tell if this card can last as long, but given the unlimited warrenty on the card (which is pretty standard btw), it looks promising.

My Canvas react plus 256GB gives 250 read and 192 write on a fast usb3 card reader. On a slow Usb3 card reader, I get below 100. Not all USB3 is the same. A smaller capacity card may not have as many parallel memory channels. I recommend my card to others, so it would be disappointing to hear of bad reports. I dont get commissions.
I learned the hard way to make sure you have the appropriate card for the task at hand...i.e not to film with cameras recording at higher bit rates than the card can write.. This is a good reminder, helpful video. (For photography, I am more willing to sacrifice slower write speeds in exchange for a high quality card, and for video of course it's a compromise determined often by a) budget and b) importance of what you are shooting.) Thank you!
Thinks for making the video, but I have to say the testing method do not make sense. We need to draw a line for UHS-I and UHS-II instead of put in the same pool. And you have to make sure they are the same size, for chip based storage, the size will affect speed(TBW also BTW) A LOT. For sd cards, they are using NAND flash, the chip is not just a big NAND, it has multiple dies inside. It's depends on manufacture to decide how big a single die is in their chip. Let's' say you have 16G per die, so 32G card/chip will have two dies, 64G will have four. What make the speed difference is, on 32G card, the controller can only access two die at the same time, but 64G can do four RW in parallel which means more bandwidth. Usually the bandwidth won't make the speed go double, but it will make a big difference. Check a random brand SSD speed specs you will see the following SEQUENTIAL WRITE 250GB: Up to 2,700 MB/s 500GB: Up to 5,000 MB/s 1TB: Up to 5,000 MB/s 2TB: Up to 5,100 MB/s The speed is different between different capacity even they are the same model. www.samsung.com/semiconductor/minisite/ssd/product/consumer/980pro/#ge_semi_anchor_stand2
This was a simple test to show the real speed you get with each of the cards. I get what you're saying in regards to the size, and this will be different in my 2022 update.

I think you have a defective Kingston card or bad batch from the retailer. I've seen user reviews and videos showing it goes 280MB/s+ so I was surprised to see your result. I would get another one from a different retailer and do an update.

Thank you for the informative video! Did you test the Kingston Canvas React Plus later again? In my testing on Blackmagic Dis speed test and AJA system testline I got around 220 mb/s write and 260 mb/s read. This was with a 128gb.
I had many comments about that, stating that the Kingston is indeed a very fast card. I'm currently working on an update on Best Micro SD Cards 2022, I bought about 15 different cards that I'm testing. When I'm done I will work on an update to this video, with SD cards and I shall include the Kingston
Would you do another video like this with a newer DDR-200 card reader and set of supported UHS-I SD cards? Also some of the 128GB cards are advertised as having a much faster write speed than their 64GB equivalents
The card reader I was using was brand new and better performing than the ProGrade. Since all cards have been tested with the same card reader, the results for an efficient comparison from one card to another are correct. Now of course I would make a new video with cards with 128GB, but these cards are more expensive and so for not many viewers used my affiliate links in this video. From all the money spent I made about $75 back. To answer your question: YES, I will make it, but it will have to wait a bit longer.

That's a good comparison. However, it's a bit deceiving. In order to get the speeds you've produced, you need an $80 card reader. You should do the tests with readers that people generally have. Also, this test is moot if using the cards in say a DSLR, Camcorder, etc. (which generally is what they will be used for) as these devices will never hit those write speeds. So it basically boils down to price and all of these cards are great for photos and near all are great for 4k video.
If your device does not support UHS II, then you simply buy a UHS I card and you're good to go. In this case the SAMSUNG PRO Plus would be a great choice. amzn.to/3cdhkg0
UHS-II card readers which can actually read at 300MB/sec are commonly available. I believe the Kingston FCR-HS4 is about $20 USD and reviews VERY well.

@@ParadiseBizz USB 3.2 means almost nothing. Do you mean USB 3.2 Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 2x2? You probably means USB 3.2 Gen 1 which is just USB 3.0. That's fine. That will give you about 300MB/sec in real world and is what I use the kingston card reader with to get those results (300MB/sec) from various cards. Your USB version has nothing to do with this unless it's USB 2 or USB 1.

That kingston tests at 299/289 for me for read/write. If you bought on amazon you may well have gotten a fake, even if sold by amazon. They bin real cards with counterfeit merchandize from third party sellers. You results are not typical for that card.
I will use it in my new Test video, However I first need to make up for all the purchases for this and for the Micro SD card review before I can spent another $500 on buying cards.
I would recommend buying the SAMSUNG PRO Plus SDXC Full Size SD Card 256GB (MB SD256H), MB-SD256H/AM amzn.to/3AFH3JG, amazing card for only $30. If you need your files to be protected against magnetic fields and for travel I would recommend the Sony TOUGH amzn.to/3ADmv4h, but this one is $130

I have bought 'fast' microsd's however, your info re the reader gave pause for thought, it doesn't matter what it says on the package, it is what reader it is put through, I have a sandisk image mate pro reader I use sometimes, but the sd card holders have 1 row, not 2. How can I get the fastest result from a microsd in the mac ( i have small card holders that are almost flush with the mac so I never need to take it out. ) It has a samsung evo 256gb, I have 128gb sandisk 170mb speed cards but need the extra storage in the mac. Any advice/tips gratefully received, my focus in speed and size, eg the fastest 1tb would be great. thank you B

My goal is to have a microsd card always in my mac, as I mentioned I have a card holder designed for macs which is almost flush, so stays in. I am needing to find a 1tb fast microsd, as moving stuff to back up drives is a pain at times, so one 1tb fast microsd would be a good solution. I think you probably got the defected Kingson USH-ii card. The result I get READ about 270 MB/s and Write about 250 MB/s

I think you have a defective Kingston card or bad batch from the retailer. I've seen user reviews and videos showing it goes 280MB/s+ so I was surprised to see your result. I would get another one from a different retailer and do an update.

Thank you for the informative video! Did you test the Kingston Canvas React Plus later again? In my testing on Blackmagic Dis speed test and AJA system testline I got around 220 mb/s write and 260 mb/s read. This was with a 128gb.

Would you do another video like this with a newer DDR-200 card reader and set of supported UHS-I SD cards? Also some of the 128GB cards are advertised as having a much faster write speed than their 64GB equivalents
The card reader I was using was brand new and better performing than the ProGrade. Since all cards have been tested with the same card reader, the results for an efficient comparison from one card to another are correct. Now of course I would make a new video with cards with 128GB, but these cards are more expensive and so for not many viewers used my affiliate links in this video. From all the money spent I made about $75 back. To answer your question: YES, I will make it, but it will have to wait a bit longer.

That's a good comparison. However, it's a bit deceiving. In order to get the speeds you've produced, you need an $80 card reader. You should do the tests with readers that people generally have. Also, this test is moot if using the cards in say a DSLR, Camcorder, etc. (which generally is what they will be used for) as these devices will never hit those write speeds. So it basically boils down to price and all of these cards are great for photos and near all are great for 4k video.
If your device does not support UHS II, then you simply buy a UHS I card and you're good to go. In this case the SAMSUNG PRO Plus would be a great choice. amzn.to/3cdhkg0
UHS-II card readers which can actually read at 300MB/sec are commonly available. I believe the Kingston FCR-HS4 is about $20 USD and reviews VERY well.

@@ParadiseBizz USB 3.2 means almost nothing. Do you mean USB 3.2 Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 2x2? You probably means USB 3.2 Gen 1 which is just USB 3.0. That's fine. That will give you about 300MB/sec in real world and is what I use the kingston card reader with to get those results (300MB/sec) from various cards. Your USB version has nothing to do with this unless it's USB 2 or USB 1.
Sorry. You have a big mistake with the Kingston Canvas Plus. Please check your motherboard bios ver. The canvas plus V90 is great

That kingston tests at 299/289 for me for read/write. If you bought on amazon you may well have gotten a fake, even if sold by amazon. They bin real cards with counterfeit merchandize from third party sellers. You results are not typical for that card.

I have bought 'fast' microsd's however, your info re the reader gave pause for thought, it doesn't matter what it says on the package, it is what reader it is put through, I have a sandisk image mate pro reader I use sometimes, but the sd card holders have 1 row, not 2. How can I get the fastest result from a microsd in the mac ( i have small card holders that are almost flush with the mac so I never need to take it out. ) It has a samsung evo 256gb, I have 128gb sandisk 170mb speed cards but need the extra storage in the mac. Any advice/tips gratefully received, my focus in speed and size, eg the fastest 1tb would be great. thank you B

My goal is to have a microsd card always in my mac, as I mentioned I have a card holder designed for macs which is almost flush, so stays in. I am needing to find a 1tb fast microsd, as moving stuff to back up drives is a pain at times, so one 1tb fast microsd would be a good solution.
