You have the right attitude! $1M is a bit low though. The big sticky point for me retiring early is healthcare.

I am an EE, and I had very similar money goals and strategy as you. I made it to $1mil at age 35, which was 3 years ago. but I don't feel I am anywhere close to being able to quit working for the rest of my life. At age 38 I now make a little under $400k per year and am close to being a multimillionaire, but I would gladly give back the first million to take a time machine trip and tell my 25 year old self to keep being responsible with a 401k, but do not worry so much about money. Instead of racing to a million, enjoy your 20s and get the most out of them you can. The whole "Money is time" thing is only true to an extent... I cant buy back the time I had when I was in my mid 20s

I'm about to start my first college year in electrical engineering. Is it true that for EE students majoring in electronics or embedded systems are less likely to get a job because of computer engineers ruling them out of the market? In other words are employers more likely to hire computer engineers for hardware jobs rather than EE grads majoring in electronics/embedded systems?

@@aradam9837 That is absolutely not true. I am in hardware design and I have been on interview/hiring committees for 3 different companies, so I feel I can answer this question pretty well. First, there many different areas of hardware design: analog, mixed signal, RF/microwave/mm-wave, and digital. The computer engineers can only compete in the purely digital design area. I design RF hardware for wireless communication (cell phones, smart watches, etc), the make up of the teams I am part of is roughly 80% RF designers, 10% analog designers, 10% purely digital designers. And those 10% digital designers are all EE. It is helpful for the digital designers to be at least a little familiar with analog/RF concepts as the team works closely together, and for that reason we prefer to hire EEs over CEs, even for the digital designers. If you were to ask purely about digital hardware design (ie. CPUs, RAM, FPGAs, etc) my answer may not hold, as I have never worked in that area

Please consider 100% stock allocation until youre at least 60 years old. It will be a bit more volatile but consistent contributions will smooth out the ride and will result in significantly higher balances. Consider any market crashes a gift and take advantage as much as you can. Time is your biggest advantage. Otherwise great job and good luck with your journey. 👍

For the youtube income, just start recording yourself playing videogames on a separate channel and so many thirsty guys will flock to it

Very good to see young engineers thinking about money and their exit strategy. I am a structural engineer and my career went/is going differently than I imagined. Not from the US so I've gone about things slightly differently but I've arrived at a similar destination. I'm currently implementing phase II of III of my exit strategy with phase III within eyeshot. I'm in my early 40's and set to quietly exit stage right in about 8 years (mostly due to the fact that I'm timing it with the graduation of my daughter or I would be much closer to my exodus). Perhaps consider incorporating a spouse. Abundance is so much better when shared. Best of luck!
